Twilight's the Last Gleaming
Chapter 6: Asst-ing to: Twilight
Previous ChapterRight now after a long and busy day of assisting the solar sister I was now about to help the Princess of Friendship herself, Twilight Sparkle. Princess Twilight was a rather beautiful mare, from the images of her as a unicorn she was pretty looking, I was not sure if it was she got older or becoming an alicorn had a part in this but the bookish mare blossomed into a marvelous mare; she stood at '6-7" medium build, a healthy bust and hips that flow fluidly with the whole figure, she was wearing a suit like Celestia that complimented her color scheme, wearing purple half-inch heels and her crown, her mane was free flowing not done up in a style.
"Twilight! Welcome to Canterlot." Celestia greeted warmly as she hugged Twilight.
"Thank you Celestia, great to be here; and is this?..."
"Yes he is, he will be assisting you for the day."
"Has he been efficient?" Twilight asked as she made her way over to me.
"Yes he has, and been very composed." Celestia chimed.
I admit I had to blush as she did; composed my ass, while the sisters were easy on the eyes something about Twilight made my heart flutter and skip a beat as she glided to me, her hips having a subtle sway to them with each step, her chest gently rising & falling, moving as she places a foot in front of the other; also her tail swished and swayed gently almost in slow-mo to me.
"P-Princess Twilight." I forced out but it sounded more composed than I thought I was as I lightly bowed.
"Please that is not necessary, I'm alright with it but I am not that formal about my title." Twilight said waving her hand
to instruct me to cease bowing.
"Common habit sorry to repeat with you." I replied blushing I later realized about now.
"You going to be alright Jesse?" Twilight giggled.
It honestly didn't help the situation with Celestia smirking like the Cheshire Cat behind her looking right at me with a smile that screamed if not taunted me saying 'I see you getting flustered and I find it funny/cute'.
"Yes your Highness, I will be." I was not sure if I was even sweating all I hoped was we got to work soon.
"Okay then Jesse let's get going then." Twilight giggled as she walked off to leave the room.
I made way to follow her when I got a throat clearing from Celestia, I look to see what she might wish to tell me but all I got from her was a smirk and her left brow lifting up...Thanks Trollestia.
I walked off at last to trail Twilight as we headed to whichever task Twilight had.
"So Twilight, what is it you need help on today?"
"I need another hand in sorting out a wave of fan mail."
"I feel bad for you already, imagine the fan mail you will get later."
"I know but Celestia assures me she will ensure that despite the following we all will get there will be rules about what tourists will do and what they can't do."
"That is a relief, you deal with enough attention."
"It's not all bad, some is sweet and welcomed; besides I have somepony's attention that matters most."
"Oh? Who?"
"My coltfriend, Flash."
"Oh...Right him." I said which I was afraid came across as bitter, I had to remember my place; I was the secretary, she was the princess, and I was not the love of her life, or anyone else but my current girlfriend, as distant as we were.
"You know him?"
"Yes and details are not totally necessary but I know him, how is he?"
Twilight's expression was heartwarming and adorable as she seemed to look off like Flash himself was standing there or approaching and with a dreamy expression sighs.
"He makes me feel less stressed out, when I'm with him it feels like I'm normal again; I don't think about being a princess and I can be like your average mare."
"Sounds like he either is under pressure to treat you right or your brother is threatening him with a kind-hearted 'You break her heart I will break you'."
Twilight laughed at this and shook her head dismissively.
"No~! He's not dealing with any of that, Jesse you are too much." she says giggling trying to regain her composure.
"But if you ask about how he is and where he is, he's in the Crystal Empire again and doing well; he writes me when he can."
"You are quite lucky, my girlfriend and I could be doing better far as contact.."
"Really? What seems to be the problem?"
"Well I and her are a distance apart, she lives in the state of Idaho 900+ miles one was over a thousand another nor-east of my state; she and I at the start were more or less in communication, but over time that became more sparse."
"Long-distant relationships are very hard Jesse, there is...And I bet you don't want to hear it but a 70% failure; but if it makes you feel better one statistic would put it at only 40%."
Twilight I think pulled something or was serious when she added that last part to encourage me not to despair.
"It helps a little bit, but I worry because..." I trail off part of me rather not dwell on the pathetic fact of my track record.
"You don't have to share it if you don't want to Jess, I understand this is some kind of stakes level deal."
"Thanks Twilight, I rather not ruin the mood and distract your thoughts."
"Of course, but I do insist that if something is truly troubling you don't hesitate to tell me."
"I will keep that in mind." I consented, for I felt if things did turn sour for me in the future I will be needing a kind mare to comfort me in my depression.
After we walked a ways we find ourselves in the library, no doubt Twilight would have chosen this place to find peace of mind to work on replying the mail she received.
Twilight sat at a desk that had a pile of letters by it, she probably had them sent here which would confirm the theory of what we were doing here, I took a chair and sat beside her; we began our work with no further word and I took letter after letter reading each one and she told me what I should write.
I then after observing her writing style did my best to impersonate her writing and replied as needed, we would be here quite a while so there was no hurry to be done with this assignment, such a monotonous task was going to be apparent.
"Thank you so much for helping me out Jesse, I know what your job is but I give you permission to tap out if you like and attend other assignments."
"I appreciate the offer Twilight, but we only started; I will keep your offer in mind only when I need it, until then I will stay."
Twilight could only smile at my dutiful attitude, she I could guess was maybe surprised I would choose to stay for this grueling paperwork responding to fan-mail because had it been someone else she wouldn't doubt that they would have bowed out and moved onto something less repetitive.
"If you say so, thank you for considering it anyways and I will think nothing of it if you do choose to stop."
"Thank you Twilight."
"What do you think of this job so far though?"
"Honestly? It is tasking and requires patience I did not think I had; but I feel important I was trusted with this."
"I feel like I am contributing even if it is to a world I do not live in."
"You don't need to feel like you are doing something when you partake in tasks of great work or selflessness Jesse, I know it sounds strange or contradicting, but even when you can't do anything you can still find a way to contribute."
"Even those who can't move due to a disability can do great things, depends on what it is but it can be beneficial if for the right reason; it is very easy to mistake an act of nobility as an act of selfishness."
"How do you figure?"
"Well say for example 2 people are doing a selfless act, anything selfless; but which person is doing it to benefit others and which is doing it to benefit himself? The one person could be doing something purely because it is the right thing while the other is acting thinking he/she will gain something out of it."
"That is a heavy message." I said letting Twilight's words sink in.
"It's the truth is it not?"
"I think it does sound like it."
"It's one that many never really give much thought especially those who think they are righteous, it is a truth that is hard to take, it really make one evaluate what their intentions are."
"It does...Where did that come from Twilight?"
"I thought I just should help you feel not so ashamed of yourself not yet finding accomplishment in your life, I want to make sure you know what matters most and that you are not finding success; you are simply moving onto a greater one."
"Thank you Twilight, that helps me a lot." I said with a smile, honestly her words helped me a little; I worried about my romantic future but the worry I had for my financial/productive future was now totally gone.
Twilight and I spent more time to finish up her task at hand about an hour more before wrapping up for now.
"I think that is all for this day."
"Aw already? My hand was almost numb to holding my quill."
Twilight giggled and rolled her eyes at the sarcasm and put away what she carried on her and sealed her inkwell before standing.
"I'm afraid this is where your service to me ends, I will be heading for Ponyville now."
"I was afraid you would say that, I hope maybe Blueblood has gone on to do whatever he wanted and has no need for me."
"Cheer up Jess, you will be fine; I think he will be not as big a pain as you think."
"Famous last words." I dryly reply.
"Behave you~ If you are polite and strong willed you may find a way to overcome anything Blueblood throws at you, you don't have to do everything he says you are not a butler."
"Sure thing Twilight." I say with a slight sigh but was comforted by a smile from the purple alicorn as we made our way. I however had to part from her to deliver the mail to the Royal Mail Room so the letters Twilight and I replied to would be sent to the respective pony.
"Have a good day Jesse, well done; I'll first tell Celestia your work performance."
"Thank you Massa." I playfully say.
Twilight giggled again at my antics, "Must you always make jokes? You sure you haven't been around Pinkie yet? Or Rainbow?"
"Keeps my attitude light."
"I like the idea but tone it down just a little, just a hair okay?"
"Yes Twilight, I will."
Twilight nods with a smile before she then left for the Thrones Room, I then made my way with a large cart for mail being pushed down the hallways.
It was a lot of postage, it was heavier than I expected as I pushed it along, passing staff as I trudged onward. Luckily the mail room was not too far away but it was not close enough for my liking.
"Letters from Princess Twilight, handle with deep care." I ordered as I walk up to the sorting station in the room.
"Yes sir." A mare sorting answered, she had a red coat, brown mane, and blue eyes; wearing a white shirt with a grey vest over it and a matching skirt.
The mail room was huge! It was at least 30 yards from the door long, about 25 yards wide and the ceiling was easily 25 feet.
So I left the room and headed also back to the Thrones' Room to get my next assignment.
As I made my way back I passed Twilight making her way out, we smile as we pass then keep walking; finally I made it and Celestia...Was not alone.
"Hello again new staff, I trust you will be quite helpful in my day to day tasks I must deal with with but only so short a time to myself."
It was him, the one I was cringing at having to help even though part of me knew I was going to, the stuck-up unicorn prince himself, the privileged pretty colt who was lucky Rarity was not willing to shove a heel up up his Armani's seat...
"Prince Blueblood, good afternoon; what is it I am assisting you with today?"
TO BE CONTINUED.
