My name is Stanford and I am a freak.
I am also alone, that is, until I met Twi. Leading up to our encounter, all I had was my brother, but that doesn't count. Brothers are often kind.
I'm getting ahead of myself, let me start over. Here, I’m exploring Glass Shard Beach. Alone. One of the few times I was without Stanley as a child.
Also one of the few times I was without Twi throughout my life. Before I met her.

I pushed my glasses up the bridge of my nose, examining the map of Glass Shard Beach. It was pretty worn down after all the times Stanley and I used it. My eyes ran up the twisting lines around the large blue mass that was the Atlantic Ocean and across all the little scribbles left behind by me.
A breeze made sand fall across my cheeks. The breeze turned into a wind which turned into a howling gust of stronger wind. The map was yanked from my hands.
“Hey!” I shouted at no one in particular. My feet pounded on the sand and up a rock face, following the lost paper.
It finally came to a stop in a medium sized crevice in the rock wall. Two average sized toddlers could fit comfortably in the ledge. I stuck my hand inside and it became enveloped by shadows. My fingers brushed against the map and- something soft?
“Ack!” I nearly fell of the stone edge in fear. What was that? A spider? A stray cat or dog? A toddler? Half of me tried to run away but my other half, curiosity, won the battle.
I sat on the ledge for a little over an hour, my brown hair blowing in the wind. Then, she came out. A purple hoof poked out from the hole, followed by frizzy purple lock of hair. Finally, a whole head of hair made its way out of the darkness. When I saw her huge purple eyes, I knew she was like me.
A freak.
Lonely.
A nobody with nobody.
