Chapters Aqua Light
The year was 17 S.D. and humanity had taken to the stars in exploration for new possibilities, but it still took far too long for standard space travel. Humanity had only managed to drop the time it took to travel to the moon by a mere 1%. And sadly no one was willing to take the time to progressively work towards faster forms of travel.
Revamping an old rundown building the World Government had it's best scientists working around the clock, yet even at their pace it still wasn't enough for them. Expanding their efforts countless bright young minds from around the world were gathered under the new educational program for gifted minds. Ascension Science Assistance Program, or A.S.A.P. for short, was a means to get the young to work on dangerously experimental theories under the guise of granting college aid.
It is here we find the young brilliant mind known simply as Aqua Light, researching all she can on Black holes and the Einstein Rosen Bridge. She hopped to replicate an old science fiction movie called 'Event Horizon'. In the movie they used a black hole generator to bend space-time around the ship and jump from one end of the universe to the other in mere seconds.
"Maybe if I put this here and this there, it will work!" Aqua said to herself, but more like to her Golden Lab, Sam.
Sam panted excitedly as she sat there while her master tinkered away, Sam had been with Aqua since she was just a pup and the two of them were near inseparable. Other than sharing the same birth date, Aqua and Sam also shared a rather strange connection with one another. Aqua never had to give a command yet Sam seemed to do as she was expected with out training, many of Aqua's colleagues often joked how she was the human version of Fluttershy when it came to her dog.
Aqua didn't mind the statement, like most of her colleagues she too enjoyed the old show. How she pondered what it must have been like to live during that time, when the first episode of MLP: Friendship is Magic first aired on the relic called an HD Television and it's close relative the computer screen. She let out a happy sigh as the thought about it only to be startled by an old friendly grunt.
Turning around she saw Leyline, "I see you've made some more progress since I last came by." He was slightly older than Aqua but his gray hair with streaks of white made many question his real age, "Still trying to prove that old movie right I see," He chuckled as he looked at her math on the board, "are you sure you've got it right this time?" He worried for her as he did for many of those he called friend, but more so for Aqua than the others.
In his eyes she was like a sister to him and he didn't want to see anything happen to her.
"I know I got it right. Because I asked Sam about it and she said it was right." She said without looking at Leyline. She was looking at the wrong paper and the right paper, trying to find the mistake she did before.
The mistake she made was putting the blue wire together with the brown one, but now she put the blue wire with the red wire. Leyline was like a brother to her. She looked up to him. He been there when her parents died when she was just 12 years old and ever since she felt safe with him.
Sighing as he looked around he feared that something horrible would happen, far too many times had he seen many bright young minds fail through their hubris, far too many gone because of one overlooked calculation or one supposed minor flaw. He mostly blamed himself for not keeping a better eye on them. Looking over her shoulder he stared at her paper work, he wanted to go over every last bit he could with her just to keep her safe.
Sadly as he started to look at her notes his phone rang causing Sam to growl at the device, "Hello Director how ar-..." The Director's voice was angry as usual telling Leyline his care for the students was none existent, "sir I know you promised the board bu-..." The Director's voice grew louder and far more aggressive, "sir they are just students, bright and far beyond many their age yes but students and children none the le-..." Leyline's head slowly started to hang low as his limp arm twitched, Aqua knew his arm twitched like that to warn him something was coming, "I-I understand sir... yes sir... very well sir... the-they will have something for the board by the end of the week."
Sam whimpered a bit as Leyline hung up the phone, she tried to get his attention by rubbing her wet nose against his left hand.
Sam looked up at Aqua telling her Leyline couldn't feel anything in his left arm causing her to ask what happened to it, "The same thing that always happens, the Director makes demands, someone makes a mistake. Sometimes I'm there, sometimes I'm not." Raising his left hand he moved his fingers and hand as he walked out, "I'll try to buy you some more time..." Lightly punching the door frame as he stepped out he looked back, "just... just don't do anything reckless alright kiddo. I'd hate to lose my little sister."
She nodded at his blank expression trying to grant him some reassurance, everyone there like it when he smiled and was cheerful. But it was times like these many worried what could happen, some said it was luck he lived as long as he has. Aqua however felt something was protecting him as he tried to protect all of them.
Looking at Aqua's work through a thick pane glass window he sighed as he thought about the old movie, in theory it could work but one consequence the movie had brought to the table wasn't a simple mistake during a jump from one end of the universe to the other. It was far more than that, he worried that it could open up a path to other realms or even planes of existence. What awaited them on the other side of those jumps, was it good, was it evil, could they even survive the jump? Far too many variables existed and each one a new question in his mind, his worries escalated when he saw Aqua smile and wave at him.
He kept his fears to himself not wanting to bring her any worry, with a faint smile he waved back and walked down the hall whispering to himself, 'She has to succeed, if anyone here can it has to be her.'
Pushing up her geeky glasses onto her nose more and putting her long black and aqua hair into a ponytail while looking at the clock. It was just getting past nine. She never stayed this late at work. As Aqua started to put the papers in her desk for the night, something started to happen to her machine. A bright glow came from the middle of it, then poof, it started to work! She started to jump up and down. Running out of her office to see if Leyline was still here, but he was not. She headed back into her office and locked the door. Thinking to herself 'I can't believe it's working!'
She was ecstatic to see the fruits of her labor pay off, her only regret was Leyline not being there to share in her enjoyment. Quickly turning on her camera Aqua started recording to document her achievement, Sam however was barking at the machine as it continued to power up.
Walking back to Aqua's lab Leyline ran every possible thought through his mind, the Director demanded her project next but he feared she wouldn't be ready. Everyone else he had been to wasn't anywhere near as ready as Aqua was, but he didn't want to risk losing her or anyone. Walking back into the hall Aqua's lab was located he gripped his left arm feeling a slight sting, he gasped at the sensation as he looked down the hall.
His arm twitched before but he hadn't felt anything in that arm for years, running down the hall he slid across the tile floor as he looked through the pane glass to see Aqua was alright. He sighed in relief to know she was fine, smiling at how she jumped he knew she accomplished her task. More than that her project was working with what appeared to be no mistakes, he watched as she turned on her camera to start her data logs.
"Thank God she's alright..." Leyline slid down to his knees thanking God she was alright, "Aqua you did it sis, you've done what others couldn't." Feeling the same sting in his arm once more he looked towards the machine only to see it crackle and spark.
Looking to his right he saw the door and hoped it was open, rushing to it he found it locked. Banging on the door he called out to her hoping she would hear him, each time his fists hit the door harder as his cries grew louder. Moving back to the window he saw her back was still turned to the machine as the gravitational pull slowly started to build.
"AQUA!" He cried banging on the window hoping it would give into him, "AQUA YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THERE!!" He knew his voice fell on deaf ears but still he cried out to her, "GOD DAMN IT NOT HER, NOT MY LITTLE SISTER..." He sobbed shaking the window with each strike, "AQUA PLEASE, YOU HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN. AT THE LEAST GET OUT OF THERE!!!" As the gravitational pull grew it slowly pulled Aqua and Sam, Leyline could only watch as his little sister cried out for help.
The trip felt instantaneous to Aqua and Sam, and though Sam was color blind Aqua saw a vibrant spectrum of lights in many different colors. Many of which she couldn't describe by sight alone, in an odd way they could only be described by either taste or smell. She shouted how wonderful all of it was and wished Leyline could see it, before she knew it all that she saw came to an end.
She was surrounded by darkness, it was cool yet she could slowly feel the air around herself warming up. Not by much only to a rather comfortable temperature that made her feel like sleeping.
Suddenly she was startled awake by an overly cheerful voice, "OHMYGOSH!!!"
Popping up from under a small mound of books she was far more surprised to see Pinkie Pie,
"Um no I'm not. I don't even know where I am. Wait where's Sam!?" Aqua said looking around
Looking up Pinkie pointed, "Would that be Sam?" Following Pinkie's hoof Aqua saw Sam cowering in a corner of the ceiling, "I wonder how that poor puppy got up there."
Worried over Sam, Aqua began looking around for a ladder or at the least anything to help her get up to Sam. As she frantically looked around she heard the hopping from Pinkie only to turn and stare in awe of what she saw.
"I've got my party cannons hidden all over the place just for a party emergency..." She snickered as she stuffed herself into the cannon, "or in case of a cannon emergency." Before she could as where she was hiding such a thing in a room with nowhere to hide Pinkie launched herself up to Sam, "Don't worry your little head puppy, you're auntie Pinkie Pie is going to get you down."
Aqua felt Sam call out to her as Pinkie grabbed Sam, 'But in dog years I'm older than she is, in human years I'm still older than she is.'
As Pinkie held on to Sam she tried to pull her off the ceiling only to feel Sam get pulled back towards the ceiling, "Boy oh boy, you sure are stuck on here good. But by what!?" Walking around Sam, Pinkie examined the dog while surprising both Sam and Aqua, "It's not glue, not gum, definitely not peanut butter. Oh boy, I'm gonna need Twilight for this one." As she hopped away from Sam she made her way down the wall and out the door leaving Aqua bewildered at what she saw.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHH! Why am I a pony and how did I get here!!??" She yelled looking at herself in the mirror. Her mane and tail was black with aqua tips.
Before either of them knew what was going on Pinkie had returned with Twilight,
"Who are the two of you, how did you get in here, and where did you come from?"
As Aqua began to introduce the two of them all she could manage was her name before Pinkie popped up, "Oh their a duo from another world where she is a creature that walks on two legs called a human." Pouncing around the room Pinkie noticed that all eyes were not on her, "What? You think that's weird, I called what happen to Twilight when she stepped through that magic mirror portal."
With an annoyed sigh Twilight waved her hoof in the air, "And let me guess you can also tell us how she got here."
Looking at Aqua she hummed, "Starswirl Rosen Bridge, though in her world it would be called something else I guess."
As Aqua looked between Pinkie and Twilight, she noticed that they were from MLP: Friendship is Magic. That show was her favorite on T.V.
She was bewildered and shocked that not only did her machine worked, she had gone from one world to another with little to no memory of the trip itself. All she could recall was the colors she saw and how little she felt, it was almost like a dream in its own way.
As Pinkie started hopping around Twilight looked up at Sam, "Well if that's what we are basing our guesses on, then I would have to say that what holds Sam there is an alteration of gravity."
Looking at Sam they both spoke at the same time, "So to get Sam down we just need to find a way to reverse the gravitational hold to gently bring her down." They stared at one another as they shrieked, "You know theoretical physics?" They gasped, "Of course I know it!"
As they continued with their little moment Pinkie started floating in the air, "Screw physics I'm Pinkie Pie."
Aqua looked at Pinkie and Twilight. She could tell that they would be great friends. Aqua held out her hoof and said "I'm Aqua Light and this cutie is my dog Sam"
Shaking her hoof Twilight smiled, "It's a pleasure to meet the two of you."
As Pinkie wrapped her hooves around Sam she started taking in air causing herself to slightly puff up, before Aqua could ask anything they watched as Pinkie slowly lowered herself and Sam to the ground.
Once they were safely on the ground Sam looked up at Aqua, 'I don't know how she did it, but she took in air and became heavier. I could understand if it was a gas like propane or something heavy that turns into a liquid when compressed. But to do that to air requires 61 atmospheres at a temperature of 292 kelvin, that's not physically possible to do within the body!' Sam sheepishly whimpered into Aqua's mind, 'She is just not normal, where is Leyline, he can answer this. Where is he?' Same started sniffing around the room hoping to find a trace of him somewhere in the world.
Before Aqua could tell her she couldn't find a single trace of him Twilight welcomed them to enjoy breakfast with them, Sam however wasn't ready to give up in her search as something in the corner of the room had caught her senses. It was faint but still there, yet at the same time it wasn't the same Leyline she knew. Something about the strain of hair was off about it, what she couldn't tell.
'Aqua...' Sam called out to her as though a squirrel had just crossed her path, 'Aqua he's here.' She started running down the hall trying to get Aqua's attention, 'Leyline is here somewhere, his scent is strange but I know him from anywhere. Aqua!
'How can you tell, Sam? He can't be here. Leyline wasn't in the room with us.' Aqua said to Sam. Sam barked knowing Leyline was here somewhere. Pinkie looked over at Sam and Aqua. "Something has that little puppy excited." Pinkie claimed picking up Sam in a loving cuddle, "Well your auntie Pinkie Pie will help take care of that."
Sam whimpered wondering how Pinkie was floating in the air with nothing to help her do so, 'To be fair, in dog years I'm far older than she is.' Wiggling out of Pinkies grasp she ran up to Aqua, 'I know he's here, the scent is off but it's his. And lets not forget Leyline once gave a lecture on the theories of the multiverse and possible varying flows of time. He could have fixed the machine and came here to look for us...' Sam began to walk at the same pace as Aqua giving a faint growl, 'although that wouldn't make much sense, he would have had to go back in time.'
Sam whimpered again trying to make sense of any of what was going on, "It is possible that there are two of him in the multiverse and you happened to pick up the scent of the one from this world." Pinkie chimed in causing all of them to stop and stare at her.
"Wait who are you talking to?" Twilight asked baffled as to what caused that answer.
"Huh, duh Twilight. I was talking to Sam."
Looking at the dog both Twilight and Aqua shouted, "YOU CAN TALK TO HER!?"
"Well of course sillies." She giggled hopping off.
'I'm going to be careful as to what I say when near her from now on.' Sam whined nuzzling Aqua.

A New Friend
As they walked Twilight and Aqua discussed theoretical physics and her work that brought her to Equestria, "So then in an attempt to create faster forms of space travel you came here by accident. That's fascinating. But what I can't place my hoof on is how attempting to generate a black hole caused you to come here, Starswril the Bearded had a few theories on worm holes connecting one end of the universe to another. But not alternate worlds or time lines."
"Well whomever this pony Leyline could be he might have the answer." Pinkie claimed opening the doors to the throne room.
Seated at the map Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity were having a conversation over a bit of tea. Though their topic was over some of the recent financial shifts that had taken place in the last few years, it was still a lighthearted and warm conversation that ended with them giggling over the matter.
"Where's Rainbow Dash?" Twilight inquired certain that all of them would have been in the room by now.
"Oh she's running an errand at the moment, but said she would be here soon enough." Fluttershy softly spoke pouring Twilight a cup.
Aqua thought about what Rainbow Dash looks like. Is she like a rainbow. Does she have wings like Fluttershy and Twilight? Maybe she's a doctor too!
"AQUA!!!!" Pinkie screamed
Aqua looked at Pinkie. She zoned out again.
"Yes, Pinkie?" Looking at her.
"I've been calling you for the last five mins!"
Twilight passed her a cup of tea as she hummed, "Well the affects of interdimensional travel can't be full explained as it hasn't been studied that much."
"Wait, what in tarnation are you talk'n about Twi?" Applejack inquired in a baffled tone, "Haven't ya'll traveled to another world several times already?"
As all eyes became trained on her Twilight sighed after her sip of tea, "Yes but that was because of magic and though we have some of Starswirl's notes on the theories, there's still far more we don't understand." Gently swirling her tea with in the cup she looked over towards Aqua Light, "She came there through another method called Starswirl Rosen-Bridge, this was noted by Starswirl to be far too dangerous to use as the gate way that is made can often close faster than it can open."
Hearing this Sam faintly whimpered, 'So then it's only a stroke of luck or even a miracle that we made it.'
Setting her cup down Fluttershy let out a faint moan only to cower below the edge of the table as Aqua's eyes came to her, "We could ask Discord, perhaps he might know the answer?" She sheepishly spoke looking at Aqua's glimmering eyes as she pressed upon her cheeks.
Aqua looked at Fluttershy. Hmm she wonder who this Discord was? But she can't think of that now. All she wanted was to go home with Sam.
"I'm going to take a walk." Aqua said. And maybe I can run into this Rainbow Dash every pony talking about she thought to herself. She turned towards the door, as Sam wagged her tail. "No Sam you stay here."
Sam whimpered a little at Aqua's command yet reluctantly obeyed her. Lying down she soon felt a gentle hoof glide across the length of her body, only to stop and scratch at the base of her tail.
Raising her hind end into the hoof she let out faint growls, 'On second thought maybe we could take our time.' She thought to herself rolling over onto her side as the hoof moved to scratch her belly, 'Leyline was good but this is great.'
"Oh you are such a good puppy aren't you?" Fluttershy's inquiry was far more rhetorical than she let on as Sam let her tongue dangle out the side of her mouth as she panted letting out groaning growls.
Slowly Fluttershy's hoof came to a stop as she simply rubbed Sam's head, 'When Aqua comes back I'm going to ask if we can stay a little longer.'
Aqua walked over to the garden that was at the back of the palace, looking at the roses. She thought to herself. 'Maybe we should stay here. I got no family left. Leyline might be or might not be here. I met some nice ponies here. I can tell Sam likes it here as well' while she was looking down at a pink and blue rose, she felt something go pass her. Aqua looked down at the pony beside her. Her mane was rainbow and same with her tail was rainbow.
"Oh sorry I didn't know you were there" The rainbow pony said
"I-it's okay" Aqua Light said while looking at the Rainbow pony.
"My name is Rainbow Dash" she said holding out her hoof.
"Aqua Light"
