A Mother's Love
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterNext ChapterScootaloo watched as her dad sat down to read the news paper. She waved goodbye to her dad and walked outside. A cool breeze hit her causing her main to get tangled. She walked down the path to school.
Once she got there she leaned her back pack agents the wall and went to her seat. Miss Cheerliee walked behind her desk and smiled to her students, "good morning class. I hope your ready to see your grades for last weeks pop quiz!"
The students all paled as Cheerliee asked Twist to pass out the papers. Scootaloo knew she hadn't studied so she would probably fail. She groaned when Twist gave her the paper, she got a C.
Cheerleader then began a math lesson, Scootaloo couldn't think straight, her mind drifted to thoughts of what her mom was like. She rested her head on the desk and closed her eyes slowly. She dreamed that her mom was picking her up from school with a smile on her face, "Hey sweetie, did you have a good time?"
"Yeah." She jumped around a bit, "but I don't get it?"
"Don't get what?" Belle Vie asked.
"Your supposed to be dead."
"Well as you can tell, I'm very much alive Scootaloo." She replied, a hint of worry in her voice.
"You mean I was dreaming it?" Scootaloo hoped this was true.
"Scootaloo..." her mother replied.
She felt the ground shake and she was immediately teleported back to her seat in class. She looked up to see Cheerliee towering over her. Scootaloo blinked a few times.
"Scootaloo, where you a sleep the whole time?" Cheerliee asked.
"I think so." She looked around to see that everypony else was gone, "huh?"
"It's time for recess Scootaloo." Cheerliee walked away. Scootaloo got up and went outside.
The fresh air brought a pleasant strawberry smell to her nose. She walked to the school playground and waved to her friends. They seemed to be talking with Dinkie hooves. The purple unicorn filly smiled.
"Hi Scootaloo."
"Hi Dinkie." Scootaloo nodded, "how are you doing?"
"I'm good, how are you?" Dinkie smiled.
"Meh." Scootaloo looked at the ground for a brief moment, "I'm fine I guess."
"Well you girls can come over to my house tomorrow or something." Dinkie shrugged.
"Sounds awesome!" Sweetie Belle smiled, everypony else agreed.
"Yeah why not..." Scootaloo looked away.
Dinkie seemed to notice the sorrow in Scootaloo's voice, "something wrong?"
Scootaloo gulped, "no it's just that, my dad doesn't want to find a new wife he's been sad that my mom died. But that was like nine years ago!"
"Oh, my dad left us last year." Dinkie shrugged, "but I think it was for the best he wasn't the best dad..."
"What do you mean?" Silver Spoon asked.
Dinkie shrugged and began to kick the dirt. They all stood in silence untill the bell rang, "Well we better get back to class." Scootaloo said as she began to walk back to the school building. This would be a long day.
Once back in class Scootaloo found it even harder to pay attention. She didn't fall asleep this time but stared off into the distance as Chearliee talked. She looked out the window as ponies passed by going to their jobs or just hanging out.
She saw a mother and a small colt walk out of sugar cube corners. The colt seemed about four and quickly gobbled up an ice cream cone, his mom seemed to be taking her time with the diary treat. The colt noticed her and waved vigorously, but he didn't seem to be able to stand on three hooves so he stumbled.
She looked at the blackboard and sighed. She rubbed her hoof across the wooden desk. The bell rang and she jolted.
"Scootaloo would you mind staying after class?" Cheerilee asked.
Scootaloo nodded as everypony else got up and walked out, her friends waved good bye before leaving. She waved back, Cheerilee motioned for her to come to the desk. She did as she was told.
"Is something wrong Scootaloo?"
"My dad just dosnt want to find a wife." Scootaloo looked at the ground.
Cheerilee nodded, she had no experience with this kind of problem but she wished she did, "have you tried talking with him?"
"Yes, but he's either to busy or to big a baby to care!" Scootaloo replied.
"Now Scootaloo, don't call your parents names." Cheerilee smiled.
"But what's that point? It's true!"
"That's not important, what's important is that you and your dad are happy."
"I don't care, and its non of your business." Scootaloo grumbled.
"It becomes my business when you don't focus in class." Cheerilee replied sternly, "just try talking with him again and maybe if your more respectful everything will work out."
Scootaloo shrugged at walked out the door. Cheerilee watched, she hoped her advise was good enough. Scootaloo let the door slam.
Back home Scootaloo opened the door to the house and stepped inside the kitchen. Her dad was setting the table for dinner, he smiled and waved at her. She shrugged and sat down.
"Something wrong Scoot?" Tornado asked.
"No, I've just been thinking about mom." She looked at the empty plate in front of her as Tornado put some macaroni and cheese on it.
"I thought we talked about this yesterday." He put some food on his plate as well and sat down.
"Well, yeah but it's just so hard dad." She picked up a fork and messed with her food.
"I know." He did the same with his food as she was doing.
"Can't you try?" Scootaloo looked up at him with hope.
"Scootaloo I don't want to talk about this again." He shook his head.
"Yeah fine..." She folded her arms and made a pout face.
He threw is hooves onto the table, "Scootaloo!"
"Ya know what dad, just stop I don't care anymore." She grumbled, "you don't want to, and that's fine."
"Now Scootaloo..." He began.
"No! Dad, this won't work! I need you to find me a new mother!" She yelled.
"Go to your room again Scootaloo." He pointed up stairs.
"Fine!" She jumped out of her chair and ran to her room.
Tornado watched her leave, she didn't just look like her mother, but she acted like her to. He sighed, he shouldn't have been so hard on her, but she was asking for it. He stood up and looked at his plate of food, if she wasn't going to eat he wouldn't either, he began to put up the food when an idea popped into his head, grabbeing Scootaloo's plate he walked upstairs.
Scootaloo banged her head agents the wall, her dad just didn't understand. She looked at the nightstand, and opened the top drawer, taking out the picture of her mom she held it close in a hug. She grabbed her backpack and after putting the picture inside, she opened her window and flew outside. She wasn't the best flyer but she descended almost perfectly.
She looked around, no pony noticed her, as if they cared. She went to the back of the house and climbed on her scooter. She put on her helmet and strapped on her backpack. She kicked the dirt for a while before zooming away on her scooter.
She whipped a tear from her eye gently. The scooter hit a bump in the road but didn't faze her. The picture fell out of the backpack, but she didn't notice.
Author's Note
If I could thank everypony who added this to faves we'd be here a while...Thank you guys this really means a lot to me. I'm not the best writer in the world, but I try. Thank you for reading this chapter I hope it satisfies your need for this story.
Yes I'm shipping rumbloo in this, thinking the story over its not romantic enough between Rainbow Dash and Tornado so I thought I'd rumbloo for a bit. Really no big deal. And as for Dinkie's dad...he beat them, mostly he beat Derpy when Dinkie wasn't around, that's why they're not upset with him leaving, all will be explained soon.
If no one has noticed by no...the picture of Scootaloo's mom holds a lot of importance to the story. And the characters each give the story a new meaning, Tornado is the one who mourns for his loved ones and dosnt want to let go of their memory, he thinks if he gets somepony to replace them he will just be forgetting them.
Scootaloo wants so badly to find somepony to fill in for what she never had, a mother's love. She wants to mourn but she can't, she never knew her mother so what would she want to mourn about? She can't miss somepony she never knew, no one can. She wants, no needs a mother to give her love, hope, joy, and care.
And that's all this story really is about, it's amazing how many people have fallen in love with it, seem a like every time a add I chapter I get a load of faves on the story and some new followers it's amazing and I'm glad so many ponies love this story, as for anyone who dislikes it in the future, I hope I can write better to give you a chance to love this story and all my upcoming ones, I'd love to hear from you if you have advise for the story.
