Princess Twilight gets a hold of a new spellbook that is connected to Celestia's darker past. Naturally, decides to try out some new spells. However, this book also possesses dark and forbidden magics and Twilight accidentally ends up casting a portal spell which casts her into a strange new world.

Now, with nothing but the spellbook, her magic and wits, and new friends she meets along the way, Twilight must find a way back home, all while surviving in a world at war.

While stuck in this human world, Twilight must uncover the secrets behind the book and Celestia's dark past. She also needs to survive the natives of this world, where the concept of "good" doesn't seem to exist, only "bad" and "worse".

Who is the mysterious Shadowflame? How will the natives react? Will Twilight be able to get home, before something happens that denies her return and leaves her stuck?

This story takes place right after season 6.
