Canterlot Castle Equestria

Late one evening the crystal mirror starts to glow. Sunset Shimmer walked out of the mirror as it rippled like water. Her hooves clop against the marble floor. Feeling a little dizzy from the transport she walked away from the mirror and turned around.

“Come on Adagio, I don’t have all day,” she said and sat down.

The mirror glowed as another figure stepped out of the mirror and fell forward with a flop.

Adagio Dazzling pushed up on her front hooves and tried to stand up but noticed something was wrong.

“I should have known this would happen,” the yellow Siren said and dragged herself forward feeling like an earth seal without water. She said looking back at her large flipper.

“Well change form already, so we can get going,” Sunset said sounding impatient.

Adagio closed her eyes concentrating as her large tail slapped against the floor. “It’s not working,” she said in frustration and touched her chest with her right hoof, realizing what the problem was.

“What’s the holdup?” Sunset said and sat up.

“The problem is, I can’t change because I am missing the gem that you and your friends busted,” Adagio said with a snarl showing her sharp teeth.

“Wonderful,” Sunset said, rolling her eyes.

*****

“This is embarrassing,” Adagio complained, her front hooves wrapped around Sunset neck as her body laid across her back and her large flipper touched the castle floor as it slid along the tiles.

Some of the royal guards passing by and started mumbled to themselves watching the strange scene in front of them.

“We better get out of here before there is a misunderstanding,” Sunset said, moving faster.

“Couldn’t you ask your mother for help?” Adagio asked, looking around trying to avoid the stares.

“Ssshh, let’s keep that between us,” Sunset said, turning around to look at Adagio putting a hoof to her lips. Then continued to talk. “Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are both on a diplomatic mission, in other words there not here,” she said, moving again.

"Halt right there," one guard said walking forward in front of them.

"Sorry, I should have called ahead," Sunset said as her horn glows as she used her magic to remove a parchment from her satchel and showed the guard.

The guard looked over the paperwork and noticing both Celestia and Luna seals stamped on it.

"Sunset Shimmer yes we know you have a full pardon from Princess Celestia but this creature does not," he said and pointed to Adagio who frowned back.

"Adagio Dazzle is a citizen of Equestria and as a citizen, she has the right to go home, I will take full responsibility for her," Sunset said, looking at the guard in the eyes not backing down.

"Very well, I will inform the Princess when she returns, make sure that the Siren does not upset the locals or else," the guard said stepping aside.

Sunset walked away trying to avoid running anyone else.

Adagio smacking her lips feeling dehydrated. “Sunset, I need some water soon or I will dry out,” she said in a weak voice.

“Alright let me get you to the bottom of the waterfall,” Sunset said, quickly headed towards the exit.

“Waterfall?” Adagio said and her ears perked up.

*****

“Adagio?” Sunset called out looking at plunge pool near the base of the waterfall. She was not able to see anything under the water.

There was a large splash and Adagio emerged with a mouth full of live fish still wiggling. She chomped down on the fish swallowing them whole.

“Eeewww,” Sunset said, sounding disgusted and tried not to watch.

“Mmm, that hit the spot,” Adagio said, letting out a burp and covered her lips with a hoof.

“Time to go if you want to catch the train,” Sunset said and started walking as Adagio swam nearby.

“There is no way, I will be able to ride the pony express like this,” Adagio said, keeping her head low in the water to avoid being spotted as some locals walked over the drawbridge.

“It’s a long way by hoof, but if you swim south you will eventually end up in ponyville,” Sunset said, looking at the map that she had in her satchel.

“I was planning on heading south anyways,” Adagio said as her head disappeared underwater and a large yellow, orange flipper splashed propelling her forward under the bridge.

“Adagio there’s another waterfall ahead!” Sunset yelled out as she watched the outline of Adagio’s body going over the edge of the falls.

“@#%$!” Adagio yelled out as she went over.

Sunset rolled her eyes and then started walking to the train station.

Days later in Ponyville

Diamond Tiara, Babs Seed, and Silver Spoon are walking along the river on the way to the park.

“Did you hear the rumors?” Silver said as she looked at them.

“About the Mokele-Mare monster?” Babs said, looking at the water.

“That’s just a story some pony a made up to scare the commoners,” Diamond said, kicking a pebble into the water with her hoof and then rubbed her chin thinking. “But if it is true, it would make a fantastic story for the Foal Free Press,” She turned and looked at Silver. “We need a picture of it or not one is going to believe it,” She said.

“I’ll get my camera,” Silver said and headed back into Ponyville.

“Babs you and me are going to start an investigating,” Diamond said and started walking.

“Awww, I want to play hoofball,” Babs complained as she followed her.

Adagio slowly surfaced and rubbed the small lump on her head and growled before disappearing under the water. There a small splash as a pebble was tossed out of the water and hit Diamond in the rear and bounced off her behind.

“Aaaugh what threw that?!” Diamond said, jumping up and reached over to rub her rear looking around.

“Maybe the Mokele-mare?” Babs said with a snicker as Diamond gave her an angry look and continued to walk.

Adagio considered asking for directions but everypony she tried to ask so far ran away screaming like they saw a monster. So she kept swimming down the river until she ran into a big problem called Hoofer Dam. Not able to get past it, she swam back to ponyville frustrated.

“Hey, guys wait up," yelled a young male earth pony with light blue fur, light brown tail and mane over his head. The only thing that really sets him apart from the others is that he is a paraplegic. His front hooves worked just fine but for as long as he could remember his rear hooves didn’t. A kind pony built him a set of wheels so he could tuck his small rear legs in and get around like any other pony.

“Go home Wheels you will just slow us down,” a grey pegasus pony said, walking with his friends.

“My name is Willy Neigh,” he said, pulling himself forward with his front hooves.

“Willy or Wheels it’s all the same to me,” the grey pegasus said, walking faster.

“Let’s hurry guys,” a brown unicorn pony with white patches in his fur said and ran ahead.

They galloped away leaving Willy in a cloud of dust. He stomped his front hoofs in frustration.

“Wait for me!” he yelled out and starting running after them as fast as his front hoofs could go. With his wheels bouncing over the rocks and hoof imprints in the dirt.

By the time he caught up the boys were already playing hoofball in an open field near the Southwestern Windmill. Catching his breath he pushed on a lever which locked the break on his wheels and then watched the game.

Adagio swam into a larger body of water and noticed a windmill from a distance. She could hear the sound of colts playing nearby. I better stay out of sight, for now, don’t want a mob of angry ponies with pitchforks and torches chasing me away. She thought and found a spot near the shoreline with tall grass and pushed up with her front hooves to watch. Adagio noticed Willy, his wheels made him stand out from the others.

“Can I play?” Willy said in a loud voice waving his hoof.

“Hmm, what do you think guys?” the unicorn asked as using his magic to spin the ball in the air.

“Really what is he going to do, run us over,” the pegasus said with a laugh and used his head to knock the ball out of the air.

They ignored Willy and continued played by themselves. Using both their front and back hoofs to kick the ball around as one of them tried to protect the goal line.

Willy lowered his head looking at the ground with a sigh. A few minutes later there was a loud thump and the ball flew over Willy’s head and landed in the water with a splash. He unlocked his wheels and turned around and saw the ball bobbing in the water as it started to float away.

“Wonderful now what are we going to do?” one pony asked, looking at the water.

“It is out of range of my magic,” the unicorn said and then looked back at the pegasus. “Why don’t you fly out there and kick it back,” he suggested.

“What if my wing cramps up, you know I can’t swim,” he said, shaking his head and then looked at Willy. “Hey wheels if you can get that ball for us, we will let you play,” the pegasus said with a smirk. The other boys looked at him with disapproval shaking their heads no.

“Really? Ok, I will get it,” Willy said with determination and looked around for something he could use.

Adagio pushed herself back into the water and disappeared without making a sound.

He spotted a fallen tree branch nearby and rolled up. Reaching down Willy grabbed the branch with his teeth and pulled as his front hooves pushed back. The boys watch as he tried to grab the ball using the large branch. But Willy was only succeeding in pushing it further away.

“Come on guys this is a waste of time,” the pegasus said looking away and started walking.

“Come here you stupid ball,” Willy mumbled with his mouth full, still trying to grab the ball or knock it to shore. His wheels were getting dangerously close to the shoreline as his front hooves balanced on some rocks.

The ball then started to bob up and down on its own and moved closer to Willy. There was a flash of a yellow flipper that smacked the ball into shore and to rolled to a stop next to Willy. He looked down at the ball and then up, noticing the yellow, orange flipper disappearing into the water with a ripple.

“Hey guys, I got the ball can I play now?” Willy said and kicked the ball with his front hoof and wheeled himself forward.

“For real?” the pegasus said looking back with his jaw open as the ball rolled to a stop on his front hooves.

Adagio pulled herself back onto shore and kept hidden watching. The boys looked at each other but then decided to let Willy play. This was the best day every for Willy, he may not be as fast or as strong as the others but that didn’t matter because today he felt like one of the guys.

*****

“Are you coming Wheels?” the pegasus asked looking behind him as he followed his friends. “It’s going to be dark soon,” He said, looking at the sun.

“In a few minutes, you go on ahead,” Willy said with a smile and waved his right hoof.

He watched as they walked out of sight and then turned around looking at the tall grass.

“Thank you.” he said in a loud voice.

Adagio was surprised thinking that she was fully hidden from view. “You better get going you don’t want to lose track of your friends,” she said and slipped back into the water.

“My name is Willy Neigh, What is your name?” he asked, only able to see the outline of a yellow form as it disappeared into the water.

“Adagio Dazzle,” she said and then completely submerged and swam away.

“Adagio Dazzle,” Willy repeated to himself and turned around then walked forward pulling his wheels alone with a smile on his face.
