Prologue
It’s a warm and beautiful afternoon. Just outside the Everfree forest, there’s a large farmhouse, belonging to a successful family of farmers. Inside, there is a beautifully furnished library.
The centerpiece of the room is an oil painting of an elderly mare. She has a yellowish-green coat and a white mane that’s pulled back in an old-fashioned bun. The portrait is situated above the mantle of the fireplace. There’s a bookcase on the opposite side of the room, a double door set in between, and directly to the right of the bookcase is a pair of Prench doors that open to a patio.
There’s a large gathering of ponies on the patio. There’s also a pony singing and another playing piano to entertain the guests, but the singer isn’t exactly gifted with the best voice, and even more, the guests don’t pay a whole lot of mind to her.
Back in the library, the phone on the coffee table starts to ring.
