Epilogue: Coming Storm

Draconus sat in the small prison that was supposed to be his new home.  Four steel walls surrounded him inside the hidden cavern.  There was a door with some bars for a window at the far end of the cell.  He could sense the enchantments that slowly ebbed away at his stamina and willpower embedded within the walls of his prison.  He was so weak, he could barely keep his sitting position.  "I must have a word with whoever is in charge of the decor," he mused.  "This place could use some nice curtains, or maybe a window."

His ears perked up at the sound of hoofsteps echoing in the darkness.  They were getting closer with each passing second.  Draconus could see a figure standing outside the door.  A light turned on, and he found himself face to face with Princess Celestia.  "Glad to see you again," Draconus said politely.  "Does this mean I'm being pardoned?"

Celestia smiled as she spoke, "You always seem to get into trouble dear.  Don't you remember me?"

"Now you're just playing cruel games on an old friend Tia," he said not being slightly amused by what she was asking.

She just laughed at his reaction.  There was a rattling of keys in the lock, and the door swung open.  "Come on my love.  Let's be off."

Draconus's eyes widened.  "Countess Mirage?  Is that you?" he asked.

Her entire form was engulfed by a green flame.  Her glorious white coat darkened to black.  Her angelic wings became torn and disfigured.  The prominent horn on her head reformed into a twisted spike.  Her eyes became green and snake like.  "It's Queen Chrysalis now," she corrected.

Draconus dragged himself out of his private room.  He could feel his strength returning, but he needed more time to recover.  He managed to kiss Chrysalis lovingly on the cheek.  "How's are family?" he asked.

She smiled knowingly as she replied, "We have a lot of mouths to feed."

"So, the spell worked?" he asked.

"Better than expected," the changling queen answered.  "What do you want to do now?"

"First, I need a snack and a nap," he said.  "Then, we finish what we started all those years ago."  Their evil laughs echoed throughout the cavern, as they made there way into the sunlight.
