Once Upon A Summer Sunset
Chapter 1: Heat Wave
Load Full StoryNext Chapter“You’ve got a problem, son.” Talan’s father said, his tone clearly angry. “I don’t know when this started, but if you don’t shape up soon you’ll be going to a therapist.”
Talan rolled his eyes at the computer screen. “Oh yeah, Dad. You don’t think doing your parenting from an internet video chat has anything to do with this?”
Talan’s father frowned, “I know... I haven’t been there. But this comes with the territory of the business. I have to coordinate the private contractors over here. Your mother is equally busy.”
“I hope you haven’t told her about my appearance...” Talan said, rubbing his lower jaw and nose. “That would only complicate things further.”
“Are you kidding?” his father asked, almost with a hint of laughter. “She’d skin both of us alive. No, she doesn’t know. But that doesn’t change things. What’s going on over there? Why are you fighting so much now? You’ve never been violent before.”
“I’m not violent now, dad...” Talan hissed. “You and mom said it would be good if I knew how to defend myself. So I have been, it’s just sometimes I slip up. Don’t worry about it.”
“No,” Talan’s father said, sitting up in his seat. “I am worried. We’re past that now. Regardless of what your three girlfriends said, and what happened when they left, if this keeps up you’re going for anger management.”
“I don’t need anger management!!!” Talan shouted, standing up from the large chair.
Talan’s father raised an eyebrow and shook his head, “I rest my case.”
Talan fumed, he sat down and tapped his finger impatiently, “Anything else father?”
“How’s the jeep treating you?”
“It’s alright, thanks for going in on it with me. It makes taking care of the house easier. And if Sunset needs a ride some place I can take her, or she can take it herself.”
“You trust her with your car?” his father asked with laugh.
Talan shrugged, “She’s not from around here, true. But she can drive well enough. Mostly it’s me, though. She likes to walk places. Enjoys the fresh air.”
“It’s not exactly fresh though, is it?”
“No, it’s not.” Talan said. “The heat is awful, the worst it’s been in a long time. Hopefully that changes soon.”
“Yeah,” his father said. “How’s your little business?”
Talan smiled, the first time in the whole conversation, “It’s going great! I’ve got a few clients already. Thanks for giving me some names to call. I just hope it’s not all because of you and your influence.”
Talan’s father shook his head, “I only helped you get your foot in the door. The rest if up to you. Remember, be professional and respectful. You know what to do.”
“Yeah, thanks dad...” Talan said. “And... about that trip...”
Talan’s father rubbed his head, “You call me if it actually happens, then we’ll talk. For now I’m on board. I see it as an experience. However I’m only on board because I know you’ll be mature and won’t get into trouble. And these girls?”
“You’ve met them,” Talan said, referring to the brief time his parents returned. “What do you think?”
“I think Babs and Alyssa are wonderful girls, your mother is less impressed...”
“Surprise surprise...” Talan groaned.
“Well,” his father began, “I’ve known girls like them before.”
“Dad... your stories? Spare me.” Talan said with a chuckle.
“Hey! I was young once, too. Just be careful. You may be mature, and they might be as well. But mature people can still make dumb decisions. As for the trip itself. If and when it happens, we’ll discuss it. Til then, I have to go.”
“Alright, dad. Love you.”
“Love you too, son.”
Talan closed the chat window and leaned back in his father’s office chair with a yawn. He opened his eyes and groaned.
“What?”
“I heard you shout, then I heard you mention me...”
“Yeah... so what?” Talan asked, a grin on his face.
“What were you talking about?”
“Don’t be so nosey, Shimmer...” Talan said while getting up and walking over to her.
Sunset was wearing her usual summer wear. A short, loose skirt and a purple top. Her hair was in a ponytail and she had her arms crossed beneath her breasts.
“I’m not a bad driver, Talan...” Sunset said.
Talan walked past her snickered, “Well... bad isn’t the word I’d use, that’s true...”
He felt a sharp pain as his ear was yanked backward. He landed in a headlock, his face smushed against Sunset’s chest.
“Maybe if you gave me more lessons...” she cooed.
Talan pushed against her stomach, still shocked by her firm abs, “What’s a pony need to drive for anyway? Let me go!”
“Your dad was right,” she giggled, “You do have anger issues!”
Talan had enough. He pulled them both away from the wall and lifted Sunset up. She let out an eep as he ran across the room and dumped her on the couch, landing on top of her.
“Oh my...” Sunset said with a grin while biting her lip. “Is this what you do with your girlfriends?”
Talan rubbed his head and got off her, “I wish... if they were even here.”
Sunset sat up and pulled Talan back down and into her lap. She held him there and squeezed him affectionately. “I know... I feel bad they have to be gone so long.”
Talan settled into her embrace and smiled. Sunset was another tall girl, he seemed to have a lot of those in his life lately. But for as many as there were, they weren’t around now.
The three Sirens he befriended, the ones who changed his life forever, the ones he could honestly say he loved. They had left and returned home about a month ago. Meanwhile, his friends Babs and Alyssa had recently gone on vacation together. Some sort of camp thing in South America. However, they claimed they’d be back soon, and when they got back they’d take Talan to New York City. A trip Alyssa had mentioned a few times early this summer.
Talan slid down, allowing him to look up at Sunset, “I’m just glad you’re here. It’s been nice talking and spending time with you. Equestria sounds amazing.”
Sunset smiled and moved her hand, forming a magical field around Talan. She lifted him up and sat him next to her. “Yeah, it is... trust me.” she said with a smile.
Talan heard all sorts of stories about the princesses, and her friend Twilight. He heard about the world and the other ponies that lived there. The pegasi sounded particularly interesting. Building cities made of clouds? But that wasn’t even the coolest part. No, the coolest thing by far were the dragons. Talan had listened in awe as Sunset told some stories about them. Hearing about it just seemed... right. It was strange.
“Well, I’d better get ready,” Talan said while getting up and stretching.
“You have a client today?” Sunset asked.
“Yeah, on the other side of town up the mountain,” he replied. “I think they live on the terraces. There are some nice houses there.”
“Kinda like this neighborhood?” she asked.
“Eh, kinda...” Talan answered. “The homes are about the same size, but they’re isolated, spaced out from one another. I’ve been there a few times. I’ll let you know more when I get back.”
“Alright,” Sunset replied. “I’ll be here.”
Talan went upstairs to get changed. He put on a nice pair of cargo shorts and a collared shirt. A sort of casual yet somewhat professional attire. He grabbed his tools and set off to the job site.
Talan reviewed the events of the past few months in his head while driving. He always had time to do it when on the road. Adagio, Aria, and Sonata... he missed them. Talan dreamed of Adagio often, her smooth scales and tentacles wrapped around him. Her soft as silk voice. To think she sang for him, and just him. Aria had taught him to never be afraid of anything, and face his problems head on when the occasion called for it. Advice he was taking seriously when it came to his old enemy Davis. And... Sonata. The charming siren who started it all. He regretted not hearing her sing more. She was the one who helped him befriend the rest. When Adagio tried to hurt him, she was the one who saved his life.
Stopped at a red light, Talan was shaken from his reverie when the GPS told him to turn right. He could think about them later, and he knew he would. However, for now he had to concentrate on finding this house. It was located on the upper terraces of Gilded Vale. A nice neighborhood, but on the other side of the small city where they lived. A couple weeks ago, Talan had approached his mother and father with an idea. He knew that he would need to start making money again soon. Despite his wealth, Talan knew not to expect too much money from his parents. Afterall, most of the things Talan owned were the result of his own spending money.
Talan knew he would need more money to support his new interests, that being Babs and Alyssa mainly. To have fun with them, he needed some disposable cash. So, to that end, he went to his father with an idea to start his own business. His mother laughed at it, naturally. She wasn’t mean about it, just very condescending. She thought it was cute. However his father took him seriously and heard him out. Talan knew he would, being a smart businessman. It was quite simple. Talan had developed skills with machines, computers, and electronics over the years. Both on his own, and during some classes. He knew how to create a website for it, and wanted to know where to put ads in the papers. His services would include setting up equipment, repairing them, updating them, and building them. It wasn’t anything complex or guaranteed to make him a ton of money, but it was something.
Talan told his father it would give him driving and map experience, plus he didn’t want to go back to working retail or at the country club. Talan’s father took to the idea immediately, much to the chagrin of his mother. With his help, he was able to create good ads that netted him a few client's immediately. Now all he had to do was follow through with them.
Talan drove up the switchback road on the mountain and admired the scenery. It really was a picturesque place. Having taken him at least an hour to get here, he hoped the client would be home. As he rounded another bend and ascended further, Talan noticed the terraces were carved so deeply that they allowed for small backyards. Very interesting.
Eventually Talan arrived at the residence and checked the address. This was it. The home was average in size, at least for this neighborhood. Quite a bit smaller than his own, but that was to be expected. Lush flowers and hedges lined the sidewalk approaching the front door. When Talan stepped forward and rang the doorbell, he looked down and saw the welcome mat. It surely said welcome, but not in any language he knew.
Slowly the door opened and Talan’s eyes went wide.
“Oh you must be the tech boy, come to help me with my toys?”
“Uhh... yeah,” Talan said, gripping his bag tightly.
“Well don’t be shy, come in and give them a try.”
Talan walked inside the house and turned around to take in the full picture that was his newest client. And what a breathtaking picture it was.
Standing before him was the curviest woman he’d ever laid eyes on. It was like a model stepped out of a plus size women’s catalog and was smiling down at him. Her frame massive, yet didn’t have that same toned appearance that Alyssa had. Though she was curvy and tall, this woman had Alyssa beat in both areas. Talan guessed she was seven feet tall at the least, but that was due to the shoes she was wearing. They appeared to be some sort of heels, but instead were solid wooden blocks molded sharply into the shape of feet. He guessed they gave her at least three or four inches. Even so, that still made her taller than Alyssa, and brought her to about six foot eight.
Her skin was a soft ebony, which contrasted with her silver hair. Talan couldn’t tell if it was white or silver. The light she was standing in made it hard to tell. Her hourglass figure accentuated her frankly huge chest and hips, and her thighs could be seen beneath her stunning dress. The zebra print style was something Talan had seen before in ads and commercials, but he’d never actually seen people wear it. This woman made it work. In fact, she made everything work. Including Talan’s shaft...
“So...” Talan said while clearing his throat and moving his pack to hide his growing erection. “You have some things for me to look at... Miss?”
“Zecora...” the woman said while walking over to him. “Just like it said on your website.”
“Oh, okay,” Talan said. “Wasn’t sure if that was a first or last name.”
“It’s fine, I do not mind. You may simply call me Zecora, the miss is not necessary. And you are Talan?”
“That’s me, at your service,” he said with a comical bow.
Zecora chuckled and crossed her arms under her breasts, “You are funny, and clever, too. This service is a different way to make money.”
“Yeah,” Talan replied. “I figure it’s better than other things guys my age might end up doing. So, I guess I’d better get started.”
“Yes, of course,” Zecora said while putting on her glasses. “If you’ll follow me.”
Talan allowed Zecora to lead him through the house. The place seemed pretty empty at the moment, she had obviously just moved here. Things were strewn about in several rooms and some appliances were already waiting to be plugged in. It seemed that most of the essentials were here. But Talan had a hard time concentrating on observation when that rippling and bouncy ass was just a few feet in front of him. It practically made his mouth water. Even the curviest of Talan’s friends had nothing on Zecora. She was the quintessential MILF.
“Here, dear boy...” Zecora said while placing a hand on her hip. “This is the most important toy.”
“Ah, a computer, makes sense.” Talan said.
“Indeed, I need it for my work. I’ve placed all the things you should need here. Also, could you move the desk so it’s facing toward the window? I love being kissed by the sun, but not when it keeps work from getting done.”
Talan nodded, he also hated having glare on his screens when trying to work.
“Consider it done, Mis- er.. Zecora.” he said while rubbing his head sheepishly. “And after that?”
Zecora smiled and rubbed his shoulder reassuringly, “I have a laptop and a tablet that need to work, then some other things outside.”
Talan nodded, “I’ll get to work right away.”
“Talan... I’ll be making some food from my homeland soon. Would you like to try some?”
“Uh, sure,” Talan replied with a shrug, “Why not?”
Zecora smiled brightly and tousled his hair, “Very good! Great food will help put us in a great mood.”
With that, Zecora walked out of the room, leaving Talan to assemble the computer and move the desk. As he worked, he wondered exactly what she did to move all the way up here. He spied only a single bed, and there didn’t appear to be any guy stuff around. Was she single? Talan chuckled, what he wouldn’t give to sleep next to her every night.
Despite being in an open relationship, Talan knew that Babs and Alyssa would be drooling just as much as he was. Babs especially. She probably would have grabbed that ass by now, knowing her.
After finishing putting together the computer, he set up the monitors and began plugging them in when he heard the door open behind him. Zecora walked in with a plate full of some sort of pastries.
Talan flipped on the power and sat down in the chair, “What are these?”
“Just a little something to eat, I know you teenage boys like things that are sweet.”
Talan raised an eyebrow. What teenage boys did she know? He usually avoided overly sweet things in order to keep his physique. But looking at her voluptuous body, it was clear she wasn’t afraid of some sweets and carbs now and again. Also, that strange way of speaking. She rhymed a lot.
“I like sweet things, sure,” Talan said while taking one.
He took a bite and smiled, it was really good. Not overpowering, but just enough sweetness to satisfy.
“You like?” Zecora asked, looking down her glasses at him.
“Mhm!” Talan said. “This is pretty good.”
“Oh thank you!” Zecora said. “It’s the first meal I made here when I arrived. I needed something sweet since I was so long deprived.”
“Where are you from?” Talan asked.
Zecora sat down and crossed her legs, making Talan lose focus on his work, “I’m from the east, you could say. A place far, far away.”
“Really?” Talan asked. “That’s interesting.”
“Indeed,” Zecora said. “Tell me, is there a good gym and spa around here?”
Talan nodded, “I could show you a few places.”
Zecora smiled and slid her smartphone across the table, “Mark them in the map, then I must take a nap. I’m afraid the move and jet lag are affecting me. Oh, and put your number in there, too.”
Talan dropped her phone, then clumsily picked it up, “My number? Um w-why?”
Zecora smiled and walked over to him, “I may need more of your services! I have a projector coming in a few days. I use it to watch TV and movies, also to view my papers. Can you set it up?”
Talan looked up at her and blushed, “Sure.”
“Wonderful, thank you.”
Talan went about finishing the jobs and made sure everything else was set up. All told it took only two more hours. He found her out on her patio overlooking her swimming pool and garden.
“All done, Miss Zecora.” Talan said.
Zecora turned to him and nodded, “Thank you, Talan. Will a check be alright?”
Talan nodded, “That’d be fine.”
Zecora walked inside with Talan behind her. She took out her checkbook and wrote down the designated fee, then slid it across the counter. Talan took it and placed it inside his wallet, only to be surprised when a folded twenty was placed inside the front pocket of his polo.
“Um, Miss Zecora...?”
“Please, just Zecora. A simple tip for a job done right. For arriving on time and being so polite.”
“Zecora, I can’t...” Talan said while reaching into the pocket to remove it.
Zecora stopped him by placing her hand over his, “I insist. My work often has me working with impolite teenagers and young adults. It’s refreshingly nice to find one that is pleasant and respectful.”
“I- okay...” Talan said. “Thank you.”
Zecora walked forward and pulled Talan in for a hug. Which meant his face was pressed firmly into her massive chest. Talan, for his part, didn’t object one bit, though it was a tiny bit awkward. He slowly rested his hands on her hips and let out a sigh. It was comforting.
Zecora released him and smiled, “My culture is more touchy than here. But I prefer that aspect of it. Goodnight, Talan.”
Talan walked with her to the door and nodded, “Thanks for being a good client. Call me when your projector arrives.”
“I shall. It’s a been a joy, my young handsome boy.”
Talan walked to his car and got in. If all his clients were like her then he might make this business a permanent thing.
Once he got home, Talan got out of the car and shut the garage door. He decided to hit up some tacos on the way home. But that ended up being a mistake. It only made him think of Sonata. It was sad, they’d been gone for a while now and he was still getting all mopey when he thought about them.
Talan walked inside and went up to his room. He heard some music playing across the hall, which meant Sunset was either cleaning or practicing magic. She tended to do both when blasting her music.
After throwing his stuff on his desk, he decided to put on some swim trunks and a loose tank top. He went downstairs and lit the mosquito candles on his patio, then sat down on the pool steps. It was very cool, and the night air kissing his bear skin only enhanced the feeling. The stars were out tonight. Talan kicked his feet back and forth while looking up at the bright full moon.
He remembered what Sunset said about the Lunar Princess, or the Princess of the Night... or whatever. That she manifested in the moon, and that she was responsible for letting the Sirens go home.
Talan shook his head, then rolled his eyes, “Um... Princess Luna?” he asked to the moon in almost a whisper.
He had no idea why he was doing this, but he thought about it ever since he started coming outside later in the evening. The night was so welcoming.
“This is... um, Talan...” he continued. It was almost like praying, and Talan had stopped doing that a long time ago. “I just wanted to thank you, I guess. Sunset tells me it was because of you that the Sirens were able to return home. So... I don’t know what I’m doing. You probably can’t hear this, but thank you, Princess Luna.”
Talan sighed and shook his head, then let out a huge yawn.
“Oh I can hear you, but it’s not easy when you whisper like that...”
Talan’s head snapped up and he saw the portrait of a mare in the moon.
“I- I- I don’t- what are you doing up there?”
“I’m not up there, I’m down here...” a soft voice cooed.
Talan jumped out of the water and took a few steps backwards when a beautiful woman appeared in his pool. She floated in the deep end, an enchanting violet and blue dress hugging her hourglass figure. The rest of it floated around her as she smiled.
“You... you heard me?! What are you doing here?!”
“Did you not wish to talk?” Luna asked. “That was the impression thou- you gave me.”
“How are you here?!” Talan asked, still shocked.
Luna spread her arms and looked up at the moon, “I am awake now in Equestria, lucid dreaming. I reach out to all my subjects, and recently it was revealed that one lived in a far away world.”
“Sunset...” Talan thought aloud.
“Indeed,” Luna said. “My sister's long lost student. She is a good mare, thus I keep an eye on her for my sister.”
“You’re able to project yourself to my world? How can yo-? Oh...”
“Mhm..” Luna cooed with a light chuckle. “Perceptive boy. Yes, the full moon. That is one way I can reach you.”
Talan looked up and smiled, “Maybe I should have talked to you sooner. What I said, though. Seriously, thank you. They wanted to go home so badly. It was really nice of you to help.”
Luna floated forward slightly and smiled, “Think nothing of it, child. I have experience with exile, as Sunset might have told you. They were gone from home long enough.”
“Have, um... have you heard from any of them since?” Talan asked, his eyes hopeful.
“As a matter of fact I have,” Luna said. “Come, I shall tell you.”
Talan hesitated a moment. “You want me to swim... with you?”
Luna nodded, “Yes... does this appearance not please you? It is the closest approximation to what I would look like were I a human.”
“Heh... it pleases me alright,” Talan said, then swallowed his tongue when Luna raised an eyebrow. “Um, your majesty... it’s- it’s fine.”
“Then join me,” Luna said while opening her arms in invitation.
Talan slowly waded in and swam over. Luna was absolutely stunning. She was an angel, her beauty not of this world... literally. Her figure was similar to Babs’, yet much softer and fair. The dress did little to hide her breasts, and one of her thighs was exposed up to her waist. Her long hair was filled with shimmering stars as it flowed down her neck to float behind her. Her tiara was black as the night and contrasted with her pale features.
Luna took Talan’s hand and guided him close where she wrapped her arms around him, “Such a handsome boy... Babs and Alyssa are fortunate to have you.”
“You know about them? How?” Talan asked, trying to look at her face and not her chest.
“Why... you dream about them,” Luna answered plainly.
“I dream about them? Well yeah, but... WAIT!” Talan gasped while pulling away. “Sunset said that you can interact with the dreams of ponies... so then...”
“Yes, little one. You’re dreaming!”
Talan looked around as Luna pulled him against her, then snapped back to attention when she gasped and looked down.
“Oh no.” Talan said, finally noticing his rock hard member.
“Oh my...” Luna playfully admonished, “Tsk tsk... and in front of a princess?”
Talan’s face was bright red, “I- I’m sorry... Let me just-”
“Is that because of me... or because you’re a teenage boy and this is normal?” Luna teasingly asked.
Talan sighed and let his shoulders fall, “I’d say both.”
Luna giggled and pulled Talan close again, “I’m just playing with you, Talan. Believe it or not, I’m much less formal than my sister.”
“Really?” Talan asked.
“Well, sometimes... But you wanted to know what the Sirens said?”
“Yes!” Talan said, grabbing her shoulders. “Are they okay?”
Luna chuckled, “They are fine... only one came to visit me many nights ago. It was Adagio.”
Talan’s heart fluttered, “Adagio? What did she say?”
Luna smiled, “She said... ‘keep swimming, Talan.’ And... to hear their song... hold the gems in hot water at the stroke of midnight.”
“Really?” Talan asked. “That’s great! I can communicate with them?!”
Luna shrugged, “I don’t know... perhaps you should try?”
“Oh I will!” Talan said, pulling away. “Thanks, Princess Luna. I think-”
“Adagio said to give you one more thing...”
“Yeah? Talan asked, “What’s tha- Mm! Mmm...”
Talan’s eyes widened as the princess's lips connected with his. They were positively divine. Sparks shot through his body as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
Just as she began to let go, her voice changed, “Enjoy that, Talan... I love you...”
There was no mistaking it, that was Adagio. A smile burst onto Talan’s face as he was held close by the princess. He felt his eyes starting to get heavy and rested his head against her chest.
“You may not be a pony... but you’re a sweet boy, Talan. I’ll be watching you, should you ever need me. Remember that.”
“Talan... Talan...”
“I love you... princess... wha?”
“What are you doing out here?” Sunset asked with a giggle. “And what princess?”
Talan got up and rubbed his eyes, then looked up at the moon. It was clear and full, just like before.
“The sexy one that kissed me...” Talan said while snickering and getting to his feet.
Sunset guffawed, “What the heck were you dreaming?”
“I just told you,” Talan answered. “I kissed Princess Luna...”
“Oh really?” Sunset asked.
“Jealous?” Talan asked, raising his eyebrows repeatedly.
Sunset laughed once, then pushed Talan into the pool. It was pretty cold at this point, and Talan actually hadn’t been swimming. He instead fell asleep while dangling his feet. Talan slowly got out of the pool and walked over to Sunset.
“Don’t even think about it smartass...” Sunset warned.
Talan shrugged and turned around to go inside, then slowly reached down to collect his sandals. Waiting for the right moment, he caught Sunset unaware and sprayed her with a concentrated blast from his garden hose. Sunset shrieked as the cold water hit her boy shorts and small top.
“Ahh! You little jerk!” she shouted, then erected a barrier with her hand, deflecting the water.
Talan dropped the hose and ran forward, he grabbed Sunset’s hand channeling the magic and squelched her power to nothing. Sunset fumed, staring at the ruby ring on his finger. That was the source of her frustrations. The Dazzlings power remained with Talan in the form of an amulet and a ring.
Sunset screamed again when Talan picked her up and dove into the pool, taking her with him.
Sunset broke the surface and shouted in anger. The water beginning to boil around her. However, it didn’t last long. Talan approached her with a playful smile and grabbed her in a gentle hug. Sunset waited a moment before returning the gesture and kissing him on the cheek.
“Did you eat dinner already?” she asked.
“Yeah, tacos on the way back. It’s cold, let’s go inside and warm up.”
“Yeah,” Sunset agreed and followed Talan inside.
After both taking a shower, Talan decided to go downstairs to the basement and invite Sunset along with him.
“You know... I’ve never really been down here before,” Sunset said. “I mean I help you with the laundry, but other than that... man, it’s big down here.”
Talan nodded. It really was big and spacious. His basement stretched across a large portion of the house. So large that it was split into four different areas. There was the common space they were standing in now, then there were three other rooms. The first was a work area for his father. The second was a private isolated yoga and exercise room for his mother. The third was a small, comfy area with a futon and decent size TV. It was used as a guest bedroom if they needed more space. But Talan mainly used it for when he wanted to be isolated and just sleep. There wasn’t much inside except for some blankets and pillows.
Talan opened the door and welcomed Sunset inside, “What do you think?”
“Cozy,” Sunset said. “I like it.”
Talan opened the futon and plopped down with a blanket, then held it open for Sunset.
“Aww... you’re so cute when you want to get all cuddly!”
Talan rolled his eyes, “I do not want to get all cuddly... I just want to relax down here for a while. Unless... you want to get all cuddly?”
Sunset smiled and jumped on him with a squee, “Of course I do!”
Talan sighed as he was held against her side as she wrapped an arm around him, resting her head atop his. She was so soft and welcoming, just like the Sirens.
Talan yawned and turned on the TV, “I’m tired. Not sure how long I’ll last. You can go back upstairs if I pass out.”
Sunset gave him a gentle squeeze and kissed the top of his head, “I’ll be with you until you ask me to leave, Talan.”
“I don’t think I want you to leave,” Talan said with another yawn.
Sunset flipped off the light switch with her magic and smiled down at him, “Good.”
