“Flurry!” Cadence yelled up the winding stair case “come on school is starting in 15 minutes!” She said quickly trotting up the stairs. Cadence heard humming from her room her blue aura wrapped itself around the crystal door. “Flurry what are you doing” Cadence laughed as her eyes looked into Flurryheart’s face.
“I'm just getting ready mommy!” She smiled as she applied an excessive amount of lipstick and eyeshadow to her face
“hon you don't need my makeup, here!” Cadence used her magic to clean the young fillies face
“I just wanted to look pretty like you!” Flurry smiled as the red splotches of lipstick disappear from her face
“sweetheart you're already more beautiful than me” Cadence laughed “oh dear forgot to put your wing braces back on” she sighed from frustration “we're did you hide them this time?” She asked thoroughly looking under the bed and threw the closet.
“they broke” Flurry said looking at her reflection in the perfect crystal floor.
“Flurry this is the 9th time this year! If you ever want to fly you have to wear your braces!” Cadence said angrily “do you really want your wings to drag all day!”
“When I was a baby you said I could fly..” Flurry said staring at her large white wings dragging on the ground
“that's because magic goes crazy when you're a baby a lot of times fillies can do things that they're full grown selves can't do. Do you understand?” Cadence said with a concerned tone
“yeah I guess…” Flurry said disappointed “I wish some of my horn magic would go into my wings so I could fly” Flurry said sitting down
“yes speaking of which you have magic controlling lessons with Sunburst nest month he said he had some spells for you to try.” Cadence put on a fake smile.
“it's time to go to school” Flurry said with excitement running down the stairs while Cadence tried to catch up.
“Okay we're here bye mommy!” Flurry excitedly yelled
“not yet!” Cadence said catching her breath before kissing flurry’s forehead “bye if anything happens just come get me I'm going to be in the building over.” Cadence smiled as she walked off.
The playground was bustling with unicorns,pegasi, and earth ponies,mostly earth ponies, all playing together Flurry saw a group of fillies playing a game of jump rope Flurry quickly trotted over “hey can I play with you guys” She smiled
“sure ummm can you jump with your wings on the ground?” A pink unicorn said as she used her magic to rotate the rope
“Umm well i could spin the rope while you jump!” Flurry said walking up closer to the ropes end “WOW YOU’RE PRINCESS FLURRY HEART!’” The filly jumping in the middle said
“Gee wow!” Another Filly said. Flurry blushed from embarrassment
“Y-yeah can i still play with you guys!” She smiled awkwardly all the fillies who were participating in jump rope nodded with wide eyes
“I’m Autumn” said the unicorn
“I’m Crystal, I know how Original..” Said the young Pegasus doing the jumping Flurry giggled at the joke
“And I’m Firefly!” Said the Earth pony on the left side of the jump rope.
“I can turn the rope now while 2 ponies jump in the middle!” Flurry said again
“I’ll GO!” Firefly yelled dropping the jump rope from her mouth and getting in the middle, Flurry walked over and immediately picked up with her mouth and began to spin the rope with Autumn
“Why don't you use your magic I mean you are an alicorn” Autumn said a bit confused
“Oh right” Flurry hadn’t attempted using her magic since she sneezed and blew a hole threw her room “I’m not so good at magic Sunburst and Aunt Twi-Twi think i'm too young to manage my magic so I usually don't use it…” Flurry said a little disappointed
“My Mom says that when you were a baby they cast a spell on you so it wouldn't be as powerful.” Crystal said
“oh..that um it wore off so and Sunburst thinks it my stunt my magical abilities” Flurry said again she blushed from embarrassment “I-I think I can use magic now!” Flurry said dropping the end and trying to pick it up with her magic.
“Wait FLURRY HEART YOU DON'T HAVE TOO!” Firefly tried to get out before the rope caught fire the fillies screamed
“I-I Can put it out!” Flurry yelled sweat beating down her white fur “Concentrate come on” Flurry thought as she tried to put the fire out the ground began to shake and water was leaking out Flurry screamed and cried “I CAN’T STOP IT!” She collapsed to the ground from exhaustion and fear the other filles piled into the school house screaming. Suddenly Flurry saw a silhouette of her mother Cadence stopped everything in less than 15 seconds. The slim pink alicorn walked over to the shaking Alicorn filly who’s wings were practically covering her
“Flurry what did I tell you about!” Cadence said with an angry tone before Flurry lifted up a tearful face her whole body shaking “I’m sorry Mama” Flurry said as tears rushed down her cheek Cadence pulled her into a hug squeezing Flurry tightly
“It’s the princess!” The school teacher yelled as she bowed to the ground the other fillies did the same. Cadence lifted her hoof indicating they should stand up
“Do you mind if I take her home early” Cadence said in a soothing tone, the school teacher nodded Cadence Stood up “Come on Flurry..” She said in a disappointed tone. Flurry slowly stood up and looked back at the crowd of her classmates she cried with he head down as her wings dragged across the wet muddy grass.
Cadance closed Flurry Heart’s bedroom door with her magic as Flurry sat on her bed and looked at the floor, tears still running down her face. “Flurry- look at me!” Cadance said as she stood in front of Flurry. The young filly slowly lifted her crying head up to see her mother with an angry face.
“I’m sorry...” Flurry tried to say before being interrupted.
“We’ve clarified this multiple times- you’re not ready to use your magic! Why did you use it?! WHY?!” Cadance said slamming her hoof to the ground.
“I-I” Flurry couldn’t think of what to say.
“You what!” Cadance said sternly.
“I-I” Flurry mumbled.
“I can’t understand you!” Cadance said. “I wanted my friends to like me!” Flurry yelled. “I’m an Alicorn-Earth pony! I can’t use magic or fly!” she yelled, tears running down her cheeks. “I want to be an alicorn, I wanted them to know I was an alicorn!” Flurry screamed into her pillow as the whole room began to shake. Cadance stroked the filly’s back.
“Hun, you can’t just do magic, you’re more powerful than practically anypony in Equestria- you just need to be patient.” Cadance looked at Flurry's wings. They were filthy. “You should start with wearing your wing brace.” Cadance thought for a minute. “Remember when the… what’s their name… Cutie Mark Crusaders came to help a filly get her cutie mark?” Cadance said. Flurry vaguely remembered, but still nodded “Did I ever tell you about when Applebloom got the cutie-pox because she wanted a cutie mark so badly?” Cadance said.
“No….” Flurry sighed.
“Well Applebloom wanted her mark so badly that instead of waiting, she made a potion to get a cutie mark, but it caused her to get the cutie pox!” Cadance giggled a little bit.
“Really…” Flurry said adjusting her tearful eyes to look at her mother.
“Yes my little Flurry you have to wait to be a fully realized alicorn so that accidents don't happen- all right?” Cadance smiled.
“Okay Mama” Flurry said, sitting up and wiping her tears.
“Don’t worry- your time will come,” Cadance said, looking into the filly’ s wide eyes and wiping her tears. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up,” Cadance said, nudging Flurry Heart off the bed. “Excuse me, Dorris! ” Cadance yelled.
“Yes, Princess?” a maid said almost immediately.
“Could you start Flurry a bath?” Cadance asked.
“Of course, your highness.” Dorris bowed. “Come on Princess Flurry Heart, let’s head to the lavatory.” Flurry Heart followed the maid.
Cadance summoned a letter. “Dear Twilight and Sunburst- Flurry needs more lessons. I kindly ask you to shift your schedules to make room for a lesson earlier than next month. Sincerely, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.” Cadance sent the letter, then walked out of the room in silence.
