1 Lost In Hope
Load Full StoryIf you need it, then it might as well be yours. Not for the lost, though.
Had they left her behind, she might as well go ahead and wait forever, to wait for some unexpected mystery to come along and show her the way out. But no.
Fluttershy, the animal personality of her friends, colors vibrant, clean and spotless, was now lost in a dark cave, where the ground and walls were all rough, and were to not make any feel a good way. She was unconscious, and it sure wasn't doing her any better. What more then to wish that she would be able to get loose of this, and fly away like always? Although, she never fancied it, it would be the right thing to do at this time.
She had just returned from The Crystal Empire, where Twilight's brother, Shining Armor, and Princess Cadence had just had their new foal, an alicorn called Flurry Heart. However, her power was great, and when not kept under control, could harm the majority of the ponies around her. Luckily, the powers of the princesses were able to keep balance in her power. With the problem that she had caused out of the way, she and her friends had returned to Ponyville to keep it going once more. Only to find out what in the back of their heads is what they dreaded for some time. Calamities, maybe... but for the time being... it was stored in their heads, and to think clearly was not a good idea to do.
The pony, laying on the cold cave, with jagged walls and rough ground, started to wake up. Her eyes were opening slowly, and her eyelashes were flapping open. She coughed, making a echo around the cave's perimeter. As her vision became clear, she knew she was in a bad position to be. Fluttershy moved her front hooves, and made an effort to stand up, in which it was successful. Her hooves made her stand up, and she knew what she was in the moment she saw the jagged walls of the cave. All around her, blue walls, with the cave beyond her dark, she wanted to know where she had landed and why she was here.
"H-hello?" Fluttershy stammered, in her light, mid-calm voice as always. It wasn't easy for her to speak, since she had been laying down on the cave ground for some time, and she knew that calling out in the middle of a dark cave with scary features wasn't a good thing to do. But she just had to know why she was here, and where she was.
"Is a-anyone t-there?" stammered Fluttershy again.
Her features of her face were not in, onlookers could say, a good way. Her voice was in a frightened tone, but not too much power in it. Any pony could tell something was wrong with her in this tone. Her eyes were blatant and void of any sign of physical distress, but they were open in lined fear. Her mane was in it's natural position, a little ruffled, but okay for her.
She looked towards the northern end of the cave. It was level, with a slight incline upwards. The ground was less rough over there, but the ground looked like it was caved in. Then, she looked towards the southern end, which looked like it inclined nothing but downwards, and going deeper into the earth was not what she wanted to do, and the mere thought of it made her "Eeep!"
Fluttershy wiped the thought off of her mind. She turned towards the northern end, which inclined up. Going up was a good idea. It would lead her to the surface, and the surface was where her friend would be, and reuniting with them would be satisfactory for her. The other end would not be so much of a happy thing of delight for Fluttershy. She led herself towards the northern end, stepping on pressured terrain. It felt like sand and dirt mixed together, as she felt it on her hooves. To keep the dark cave and the fears of it out of her mind, she started to talk to herself. She put effort into keeping the stammering out of her voice, to seem confident and hopeful.
"Oh, I hope this is right..." Fluttershy said softly. "I would like to get back up to the surface, to see Twilight, tell her I'm ok, and there is no need to..."
She faltered in this sentence. The term of being afraid gave her the chills too, as this would break her shield of valor against the darkness of the cave.
"Oh, and what about Angel?" she said worryingly. "He will be missing me! I forgot to purchase his favorite recipe for lunch! Well, a late lunch, I suppose..."
Her pet, Angel, was feisty over the timing of when it wanted food or not, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, any supplementary time of day for when it was feeling in the mood to eat.
"Well, let's see..." Fluttershy said, remembering what happened earlier that day.
The little bunny had stamped about for his lunch. Fluttershy was there when he caused a little racket when he felt the specialty to eat something new this time, something delicious to fill his appetite.
"Angel, calm down!" Fluttershy said, her eyes fixed on Angel's mean glare at her. "The markets are probably out of that food!"
But the statement she said did little to help the pet's temper on his meal. Angel raced over and his feet knocked the side of her hoof. Obviously, this meal was very important to him, and he wanted to eat it. Fluttershy had no choice but to go outside for the markets to purchase the food that he wanted for Angel's very special lunch.
"Alright, alright..." Fluttershy said. "I'll go get the components for your special lunch."
Angel stopped kicking Fluttershy's hoof and looked up at her, and his glare turned into a warm smile.
"Great!" Fluttershy said, partially in median of relief and hope. "I'll go get you that lunch." Angel nodded.
That had made the good part of it happen. Fluttershy exited her house to go to the town square of Ponyville, where the markets were open and her friends had returned to assort their rooms, deal with minor issues, or go about their day as usual. As the door shut behind Fluttershy, she started towards the path towards Ponyville. She hoped that the markets would be open and would offer the food she needed to calm down Angel. If she didn't get it... she would not like to think about what would happen. She focused on the bright side of her trip to Ponyville, and started to pick up the pace with her descent down to Ponyville. She might even meet some of her friends down there, too.1
