[ Ponyville is a kingdom now? ] - Chapter 1
"Fleetfoot take the recruits to the west of Canterlot, Soarin take the cadets to the east. I'll take the weather ponies up above and see what we can do about the clouds higher up." Spitfire instructed, able to keep her place between the three as they flew; an army of pegasi behind them.
Soarin and Fleetfoot nodded, and with a simple turn the army broke into three groups. Spitfire's group fought the snow as the began their ascent, the wind threated to push them down with the force of two work ponies. Spitfire had to shake her head every few seconds to clear her goggles of snow, the weather ponies behind her battled the same problem.
The storm had raged on for two days, on this day the Wonderbolts finally had enough volunteers to try and fight the clouds. Two days the princesses had aruged about the oncoming terror. All four of them shared their pain, tying to outshine the others with 'we're starving' or 'our foals are freezing'. Never before had these princesses aruged so harshly, throwing vulgar slurs at one another. If you were to see these four for the first time, you wouldn't think they're royalty. Twilight sat quietly in the fray, only giving her two cents when the others fell quiet.
"Your kingdom has less subjects," Luna barked. "The citizens of Canterlot and beyond deserve the aid of the pegasi more than the Crystal Empire does."
Cadance was taken aback, she slammed a hoof on the table they sat at. " We're already dealing with the snows of the frozen north, you can't leave us to freeze just because my empire has less subjects." She glanced at Twilight, who slumped down in her seat. "After all, you're both the rulers of all of Equestria, my empire counts."
Twilight saw Celestia's mouth open, her eyebrows scrunched together. "You're the ruler of your own empire Cadance," her voice sounded oddly calm. "You must decide what's best for your land."
"Twilight technically is the ruler of Ponyville, correct?" Cadance added, making Twilight stir. The smaller princess didn't want to be pulled into this arugement. "If I must worry over such a small kingdom and be excluded as a part of Equestria, then Canterlot and Ponyville can't be allies!"
"I-I'd say that I'm not the ruler of anything." Twilight finally spoke. "I-I'm just the princess of friendship, I don't own any land."
Cadance scowled at her, making her sink back below the table. The princess of love got up from her seat, growling at them all.
"The Crystal Empire is no longer a part Equestria, we'll seek out help on our own and if you require any aid don't look to us." Then she furiously turned around exiting the meeting room as the guards saluted to her. As she left Twilight returned to her seat, sitting upright.
"P-princess Cel "
"We are no longer allies Twilight," Celestia cut in, not looking at the smaller alicorn. "Ponyville is under your control, and Canterlot is under ours."
"What about the rest of Equestria?" She blurted out. "They don't have princesses."
"You must make allies of them on your own terms, I believe Cadance has gone off to do just that." She sighed deeply. "If you're able to make amends with them they may provide aid, and I'm guessing Cloudsdale is the prized city."
"Why do you say that?" Twilight wondered, placing her fore hooves on the table. "I-is it because of the weather factory?"
"That and it is home to most of the pegasi, their wings and advanced knowledge of clouds could help clear the skies." Luna answered for her sister. "If any one of us gains their trust then, well, the skies will be under their control."
"But " Twilight was once again cut short.
"Twilight, your kingdom needs you, you're the ruler of Ponyville and any other lands you...conquer." Celestia signaled for her guards to lead her out. "I, Luna, and the rest of Canterlot no longer will assist you." Twilight tried to fight against the stallions that tried to make her leave. "This is for the best."

"Spike, the weirdest thing just happened!" Twilight exclaimed, rushing to her assistant as he waited by the train station. "I'm the ruler of all of Ponyville, Celestia said, she isn't going to help me or the rest of Equestria anymore; and Cadance..."
"Woah, woah. Let's calm down here." Spike tried to calm her. "Isn't Mayor Mare the 'ruler' of Ponyville."
"That's just it Spike, I don't know if I should take the responsibility or let the mayor sort things out." Twilight sighed.
"Well we'll straighten things out once we get to Ponyville, surely Mayor Mare will understand the circumstance." Spike slightly chuckled. "I mean, all of Ponyville is covered in clouds." Spike gasped as Twilight threw him onto her back.
"Then it'll be faster to fly." She said taking off.
"A-and more dangerous!" Spike shouted over the wind, holding on for dear life.
The only thing visible of Ponyville was the snow covered waste-land below, only a few earth ponies trudged through the snow in a desperate attempt to reach home safely. Pegasi flew far above, kicking clouds only to have them reappear in an instant. Twilight landed by the town hall, only to see the windows boarded up with wood, snow blocking the door. If they wanted to speak with the mayor, it was too late. Twilight turned away from the building to look at the town. Homes were covered with snow, everything around them seemed to be abandoned. There was no way Twilight could govern Ponyville like this, and any attempts would be futile...
