The Familiar

School Days Part 1

Luna's POV

"I swear to my mother...whatever's making that sound is going to the moon." I whispered as the sound continued to halt I sleep. I looked to my side and saw the thing responsible for awakening me, that thing Azrael gave me called a...umm...alarm clock or something like that. Speaking of Azrael...where is he...and what am I hugging? I slightly cranked my neck up and blushed when I realized that I was hugging Azrael, my hands around his midsection and my head on his chest. Now normally I'd just move away but...I feel like I don't want to. I can't describe this feeling, it feels warm, comforting...it just feels like I belong here...with him. Smiling, I laid back down on his chest, closed my eyes and just enjoyed this feeling.

Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something?...

I looked back at the "clock" and saw the time.

7:30 a.m.

My pupils shrank when I finally realized what I was forgetting.

Azrael's POV

Now most people either wake up to the light of the sun, the sound of an alarm clock (Funny saying that since I could have sworn I set one up) or even a crow of a rooster. I how ever woke up to getting catapulted out of bed, accompanied by:

"OH MY MOTHER!! I'M GOING TO BE LATE!!"

I grudgingly got up to see Luna rocket into the bathroom. Oh yeah, I have to go to school...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I was dressed in a new long coat that Stella had the royal tailors make, however it looked more like some form of robe than a long coat. It was still a dark color like my old coat, however unlike my long coat which I can put on like a jacket, I had to put this one on like a shirt since you couldn't open up the front, which was actually harder to do than you think. Regardless, the pros out way the cons in this situation, not only was it comfortable, but it was also treated so that it's tougher than normal then normal cloth yet does't restrict movement and flexibility; the only con I could find with this is that it kinda makes me look like a priest. Luna on the other hand was wearing a school uniform and as I was casually walking, Luna was flipping her shit. "Calm down Luna, we still have time." I said in hopes that it could steady her nerves. Suffice to say, it didn't work.

"ButI'mgoingtobelateforschool!andCelestia'sgoingtobesomad,andmom'sgoingtobesomad,andI'llbeinbi-" I stopped her rambling by placing my hand over her mouth.

"Ok Luna, as impressed as I am that you could say all of that in one breath, you need to calm your shit." I said. "And besides, I learned where your school is, I can get you there in five minutes. Tops." I could still see the concern in her eyes, but she nodded her head in understanding regardless.

"Ok but what about my sister." just as she said that, one of the servants came up to us.

"Princess Luna, I'm afraid that princess Celestia has already left for school fifty minutes ago."

Luna looked down and gave a sad "Oh.". Giving 'cheering her up' another try, I walked in front of her and knelled down to her eye level and smiled at her kindly. "Hey, don't give me that face, just because she left earlier than us doesn't mean anything."

"But what if she get's mad at me when she sees me at school?" Luna asked fearfully looked down, "I never wake up late so that we go to school together. What if she gets angry with me because I didn't go with her? What if-" I cut her off, by placing my hand on her head.

"You really love your sister don't you?" I said making her blush, "Look, I may not know much about Celestia, however if she loves you half as much as you love her, then I doubt she'll get mad at you for something small like being late."

"You sure?" Luna asked, still a little worried.

"Yeah, I promise." I said, giving the most reassuring smile I could manage, making her smile a bit.

I then stood up and brought a hand to my chin in a pondering manner, "Now how are we going to get you to school quickly?" just then I got an idea and smiled mischievously at Luna, "Hey Luna, want a piggy back ride?"

6 minutes later

Near Canterlot Academy

As we neared her school, Luna was still laughing/ screaming on my back as I flew at high speeds. Landing, we created a rather large dust cloud causing all nearby students to sneeze and cough. When the dust cleared, I had a clear view of the student's reactions, these range from shock to curiosity to disgust, and to my surprise a few flushed faces and even some bedroom eyes from the older students. After a few moments of awkward silence, Luna jumped of my back and smiled at me reached out her hand, "Come on, we can still make it." she said enthusiastically, now that's more like it.

Giving her a smile of my own, I took her hand and we made out way to her classroom together. As we walked through the halls, I received more of the looks I got outside, coupled with a few fearful looks here and there. But I didn't mind, if this is the price I have to give to see Luna happy... then it's worth it. Once at the outside of her classroom, Luna was about to open the door when she stopped her hand just before it touched the knob. "What's wrong Luna?" I asked.

"...It's...it's just that this will be the first time I'll have a familiar with me in class. Before, my classmates would make fun of me since I didn't have a familiar, while everypony did. I just felt so...small...so inferior to everypony else." she said sadly before brightening up with a small smile and hugged me. "But I think the wait was worth it, now I have familiar I always wished for, one that's kind and cares about me.

That..that was just...wow. In all my life, I've never felt so...wanted by someone. Not because of my power or skill or other trivial things, but because I was me. I knelled down and gave her a hug of my own. Unfortunately, our moment was ruined because of the bell. Reluctantly, we let go and face the door once more. "You ready?" I asked, receiving a happy nod as my answer. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door; ready for whatever this new world has ready for me, because now I'm not alone. Now I have Luna, and God help anyone who dares to take her away from me.
