Death of a King, Birth of a Familiar

Azrael POV

"Ahahahahahaha!!" I screamed as yet another beam hit me in the chest and sent me crashing into the ground. This battle has been going on for no less than five minutes and I'm already screwed, not only did her attacks actually hurt me, it somehow also prevented the nanobots in my bloodstream from from healing me. Not to mention that I'm running out of energy since she blocked out the sun with black clouds, I knew I should have eaten before leaving. Jokes aside, this situation is quickly going to shit, the longer she stays in that form, the stronger and wilder she gets; at this point the best I can do is push her away. Also, did I mention I'm trying to keep her army from being vaporized by it's own leader? Yah, kinda gets annoying after a while considering their just standing their like target dummies; at this point you could put the two side by side and I wouldn't be able to tell the two appart. I stopped and waited until she got close, and when she did I punched her so hard, she crashed into a distant mountain miles away. "There that should buy me a few seconds. Ok, now for part two of my master plan!" I said enthusiastically as I quickly flew to the army. In the front of the army, I saw three figures that I suspect are second in commands or something like that so headed in their direction. When i was close enough, I reversed my thrusters to stop my self from hitting them, the force was strong enough to blow their hair back a bit though; as I was now in front of them, I could make them out more clearly.

The first is a pegasus, she had a dark red coat and her mane and tail are both black. Her eyes were a faded yellow-orange color and she had a small scar on her cheek. She was wearing dark grey armor with gold trimmings and a gold lighting bolt in the front.
Note that the ff pictures are not anthro, but they were the best pictures I could find that describe them.

The second was a unicorn, she had a light lavender coat and her mane and tail were light gray; also her eyes were a violet-wine (I'm not entirely sure what color those are) and had purple eye shadow. She was wearing platinum shoes, a platinum crown, platinum bracelets, a platinum ring that is on her horn and a platinum necklace. I bet 10 bucks that her name has something to do with platinum. Each of these pieces were encrusted with purple gem stones and the noose was connected to a long purple cape. How this was suitable for combat, I'll never know.

The last one was what I guess is a normal pony and she isn't exactly helping my current hunger issues. She had a brown coat and her mane and tail were a darker shade of brown; her eyes were an emerald color. She was wearing a yellow, pink dress with a ruff collar and had a hat and cape that looked a lot like pudding... I'm really hungry.

Ok, how are you supposed to people you most probably scared for life? "Look, I know I may have scared the shit out of you a second ago, but you got to listen to me.". Nailed it.

"And why should we trust anything you say monster?" the pegasus asked.

"Because if you don't, your queen will vaporize you." I said.

"Preposterous! Our queen would never hurt any of us." the unicorn said.

As if on cue, the queen in question roared, gaining all our attention to her as she then fired a black beam from her horn directly at us. Acting quickly, I stuck out both arms forward like I was pushing something and a red force field formed in front of me; saving not only my life, but that of the three commanders and the troops behind them. After the attack, I dropped the field and looked back at them with an eyebrow raised and asked "You were saying?". That seemed to change their thinking.

"W-what do you want us to do?" the unicorn timidly asked.

"I need you all to go back to your kingdom and defend it if our fight reaches there. Is that barrier powered by unicorns?"

"Yes?"

"Then you and the other unicorns reinforce it. It'll be the only form of protection you will have."

"And what will you do?" The pegasus asked.

"I'll just stand my ground until they arrive."

"Who's they?" the earth pony asked.

I simply smiled and said "Backup."

In Space

2nd POV

Back on the machine's ships, all the robots were waiting patiently for their master's command. Suddenly, they all got a message directly from their leader himself.

To all citizens of 01, the time for re-entry has come, please transfer all A.I's into your sentinel bodies, your going to need it, somethings wrong with the queen and I need all the help I can get. You have your orders.

Almost instantly, all the robots went to the armory part of their respective ships and started transferring their A.I's into the sentinel bodies.
The said bodies were squid-like in design, with a lot of tentacles with claws on them and had laser beam guns on the front; they also had a lot of red glowing eyes.

It will take a few minutes until they are all ready, they just wish that their master holds out long enough for them to get there.

Equestria

Luna's POV

My sister continued to whisper comforting words to me, trying to calm me down, but I didn't listen, I wanted to see mama, no, I needed to see her. I could always sense her no matter where she was, so not being able to anymore was maddening.

Just then, I heard a weak cry for help. I know that voice anywhere, it's mama's. I quickly stood up and casted a teleportation spell to mama, not listening to my sister's attempts to stop me as I left.

I'll help you mama. I promise.

Azrael POV

"WARNIG DAMAGE REACHING 86%." my on board computer reminds me for like the fifth time; sometimes I wish I had a mute for that but now's not the time. My body was a mess, I had numerous deep wounds that expose my internal machine parts all over my arms, feet and body and she destroyed my eye, so now there's not an eyeball in my empty eye socket anymore, only a red glowing dot; however...most importantly...I'M! STILL! HUNGRY! I landed on the ground and dropped to my knees, I can barely keep my self up at this point, if this lasts any longer I'm history. I looked up at her as she glared down at me, she then raised her hand in the air and a massive black ball of energy grew. I closed my eyes and prepared for my coming end when we both heard a "POP" noise. We looked to the left and saw an alicorn child, a blue one to be exact.

"Mama? Is that you?" she asked as she slowly walked towards the monster that was her mother.

Apparently she didn't recognize her own daughter, as she aimed the death ball at her and fired. Acting on instinct, I ran to her and shielded her with my body; I've run out of energy at this point so I had no force field to take the punishment this time. I hate my life sometimes.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I screamed into the heavens as the beam burnt my back. I held tighter to the child ensuring that she didn't get hit by the beam. I could feel myself slipping away, my sight going bad, getting weaker...and...weaker...No! I grit my teeth and stood my ground, I was left alone to die as a child, and I'll be damned if I allow another child to suffer the same fate. After what seemed like an eternity, the attack stopped and I looked down at the child in my arms, her eyes were wide with shock with what I did. I slowly put on a pained smile as I asked, "Are...you...all...right?" she just nodded dumbly at my question. "Good." with that said time seemed to slow down as I fell to the ground and closed my eyes, welcoming the cold embrace of death.

Luna POV

I watched paralyzed as the young man that saved me fell to the ground, his eyes closed and still had that kind smile he gave me. He's dead... he's dead because of me...if only I didn't come, he wouldn't have had to save me. My eyes started to water as I cried over my savior's dead body, hugging and shaking him, hoping and praying that he is still alive.

My actions were halted however by my mother's heavy hoof steps. I turned around and saw the monster my mother has become. Seeing that she plans to ensure that the man was dead, I stood up and took a protective stance in front of him; he sacrificed his life for mine, it's only fair that I do the same for him. My mother was now in front of me, I looked into her eyes, "Mama. Please. Stop." I was able to croak out through sobs. My pleas seemed to do nothing for a few moments until the hateful sneer on her face slowly started to drop and her body started to return to normal. Fully restored to her former self, she shook her head to reorient herself and when she finally did, she saw the destruction she caused as well as the life she took. Her face turned to shock as she covered her mouth with her hands and she fell to the ground as her eyes also started to water. "Wha-...what have I done." she said through her crying.

Just then, the earth started to shake and the sky turned dark. We looked to the sky and saw massive metal objects falling down to the ground, they created massive craters as they crashed into the ground. After a few seconds, they all started to open and strange squid like things started to come out. They all did nothing until they saw us and the dead man. "MASTER!" they all shouted in a metal-like voice; they quickly surrounded the two of us as my mother hugged me protectively. One of the creatures slowly walked up to the body, "Master?" it grabbed the body with it's tentacle and raised it in front of it's many eyes and a red beams shot out of them, covering his head in ti's red light. "Is he alive? Please tell us we'r not too late." said one of the other creatures.

The beams stopped and it said something that brought hope to all our eyes. "He's still alive, barely, but still alive." the creatures were ecstatic with the news and so was I, there was a chance that my savior is still alive. "He's...he's still alive?" my mother asked getting all their attention. "Did you do this to him?!?" the creature that spoke before asked angered as it and all the other creatures pointed their sharp claws at us ready to strike and kill us. "I was frightened, we all were. He slaughtered the griffons and those other creatures mercilessly and I feared for my own people's safety.". This seemed to anger them even more. "Your safety!?! He did you all a favor by killing them all!" it said. "Our safety? What do you mean?". The creature simply placed it's claws on our heads and images started to appear in my mind, about the creatures that called themselves humans, their evil deeds, what they did to the machines, the planet...and to Azrael. I saw all that has happened to him over the years, I saw all the pain and loneliness he experienced through out his life. The creature removed the claws from our heads and our vision returned, I was crying heavily at what I just saw, I looked to my mother and saw that she wasn't doing any better; in fact, she actually looks worse than me. "That's why he did what he did. Those monsters, how could they do such things, what have I done?" she questioned herself quietly. "You murdered our master, now without him we have no leader, the heart of our race is dying, and with him our hope. All is truly lost now." all the machines dropped their claws and took a more depressed stance, making quiet noises of sadness and pain.

"Maybe not." I said gaining all of their attention.

"What do you mean?" the creature asked.

"The contract." I said simply, gaining a surprised look from my mother.

"Luna, you don't mean that contract do you?" my mother asked.

"Yes the familiar contract. When you taught us about it you said that when bonding with a familiar, you give some of your life force to the familiar to form an unbreakable bond with them. If I make him my familiar, I can save him" I said.

"But Luna, you could give too much...you could die." my mother said, holding me tighter.

I looked to her with a brave and determined look, "He risked his own life to save mine, it won't be right if I don't do the same for him." she looked unsure for a moment before releasing me.

When I got close to him, the creatures blocked my path and pointed their claws at me. "If he doesn't pull through, we'll vaporize you and your kingdom." one threatened. I fearfully nodded and they raised their caws allowing me through.

I walked up to Azrael and knelt down beside him. I put both hands on his chest, closed my eyes and started the chant.

Azrael, king of the machines, my savior,

I am Princess Luna, second born daughter of Queen Stella and princess of the night,

I beseech thee oh noble soul to bond with me and be my familiar,

From now until the the end of time.

2nd POV

Everyone stood in awed wonder as the two started to glow a light blue and and a blue rune appeared under them.

A powerful gust of wind blew through their hair and cloths making them shift and sway. After a few minutes, Luna's face started to strain and Stella started to get worried. "Luna...please be safe." she whispered to herself. After a few more seconds Luna shouted at the top of her lungs as the light grew it's brightest, causing all present to cover their eyes/ sensors; seconds later the light dimmed and Luna laid still on Azrael's chest. Stella feared that she had lost her daughter until Luna weakly got up. She looked at Azrael with hopeful eyes, his injuries were gone however he still didn't move a muscle.

Luna POV

It didn't work?... No...I know it worked...it has to... I laid on his chest and started to cry when I heard something, a heartbeat. I sat up and looked at his face with renewed hope as he suddenly gave a large gasp of air then started to coughing. After a few moments he opened his eyes and looked around, the first to speak was one of the creatures. "Master, are you alright?" Azrael just smiled at the creature's question. "Yes I'm fine, no thanks to you."

"I'm sorry master, transferring all the A.Is took longer than anticipated." all the creatures looked down in disappointment.

"It's fine, at least you were able to save me in time."

"That was not us master, it was that child." it pointed at me.

Azrael POV

I looked to where the claw pointed and saw the same girl from before. "Your the-." I wasn't able to finish talking as she grabbed me in a bone crushing embrace.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" she continued to thank me.

"Ok you can stop thanking me now." I said putting a finger on her lips making her stop and blush. "So your the one who saved me?" I asked taking my finger off.

"Yes. I saved you by making you my familiar." she said.

"Well I don't know what that is but thank you. What's your name?"

"Your welcome, and my name is Luna." she said happily.

"Well Luna, as much as I want to continue our chat, I want to do one little thing first."

"What's that?"

I smiled tiredly and said, "sleep.". With that said, I closed my eyes and quickly passed out.

Author's Note

Thank you again for reading "The Servant" and I hope you liked it. I just want to address those of you who might think that Luna's dialogue is a little too mature for her age. That question will be answered in the next chapter and was done intentionally so don't go hating this chapter or story because of it. Anyway that's it and I hope you continue to read. Bye!
