Author's Note

Hello everyone. I know, it's been a while since I uploaded a story. Mainly it's because I've been depressed for a while, and I couldn't think of anything to write about. However, it wasn't until I saw the movie 'Deep Blue Sea' for the first time since 2011.

It inspired me to write the Equestria Girls version of the movie. Except it's about Applejack and Anonymous character.

I've been working on this story for a few weeks, and I'm proud that it's finally done. I hope everypony enjoys it. Well... here it goes.

Part 1

Four hundred million years of life as people say how long sharks have been roaming the Earth. There were some weird looking ones that use to roam our planet. Some big, some small. Some fast, and some slow.

Sightings of shark teeth in various sizes scattered through out the ocean floor. And beaches that use to be under water millions of years ago.

Some sharks we know today has survive the extinction. While the rest of the sharks have cease to exist. Maybe died from a massive meteorite. Or perhaps starved off when they couldn't find any food to hunt in the deep dark depths of the ocean.

There have been rumors about sharks over the past many years. How they attack people, and what their favorite meal is.

Over the past one hundred years. There have been a lot of reports of shark attacks on humans off the cost of Canterlot Harbor. People would say they were caused by bull sharks, tiger sharks, or perhaps some other species of shark.

However, eye witnesses reclaimed it to be great white sharks that causes the attacks across Equestria. Killing more than one hundred people per year.

You would hear people all over Equestria saying sharks like to eat people. While others will say a true fact about not liking the taste of us humans very much. At least that's what scientists think.

Thirty boring minutes in the boat ride. You’re just sitting there resting your head on your fist with your friend Applejack right beside you. You seriously can’t believe that your dad has talked you into this. Staying at some kind of laboratory where your dad’s friend and some other people study oceanic species. Including sharks.

“You alright?” Applejack asks as she sits beside you. She places her hand on your shoulder. You let out a boring sigh. When the boat’s motor is just rattling your ears. Lucky for you, you’re not on a fancy speed boat. You’re in one of those boats that holds more people.

“Yeah. It’s… Just gonna be a very boring trip.” You said to her.

“What’s gonna be so boring about it, sugarcube?” Applejack asks.

“We’re gonna be staying there for a few days. Not to mention looking at different species of fish. I think it’s the most boring thing in the whole world.” You said as you rested your head back on your fist. Letting the afternoon breeze cool you down in this boat ride.

“Cheer up, champ.” You hear Thunderbolt say. “We’re almost there.”

You didn’t want to believe him. But you sat up and you look straight ahead. You can see in the distance as far as the eye could see.

“Is that an oil rig?” You asked.

“No.” Thunderbolt said. “It’s our laboratory. This is where we study oceanic species.”

“Oh great.” You sarcastically groan as you sit back down. “How did Big Mac talk you into this?” You asked Applejack. She sits down beside you as she lets out a sigh.

“Well, your dad said you can tag along a friend. So, he decided that he would like me to go with you. We are best friends, right?” She said as she punches you playfully.

“Yeah.” You said as you put on a small smile. But that doesn’t last for a second as it fades away.

“Aw, cheer up, sugarcube.” Applejack said as she places an arm around you. “It’ll be fun.”

“Yeah, I bet.” Now it feels like you’re starting to get a small attitude with her. But, you tried your best to play it cool until you get there.

Finally, the boat is now docked as you, Applejack, and Thunderbolt step off the boat. As the three of you keep walking on the dock, you notice that a woman is approaching. She has a white scientist jacket, same as Thunderbolt’s.

“Ah, glad you made it, Thunderbolt.” She said as she greets him. “Are these two the guests who will be staying here?”

“Yup.” He cheerfully claims while introducing the both of you.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you both. I’m Elite Eclipse. I’m the biologist.”

“Nice to meet you.” Applejack said as she shook her hand. Elite walks to you.

“It’s nice to meet you.” You say to her putting on a smile, while trying to fake enthusiasm as you shake her hand.

“Excellent.” She said with a smile. “Let Thunderbolt and I show you around.” You and Aj shrugged as you both follow them. Your eyes scan the place as if there’s really nothing much. With your bags on your shoulders and walking behind the two strangers as you wish to call one of them.

“I dunno.” You hear Applejack said. “It doesn’t look too bad.”

“It looks like there’s not much.” You said as if that’s your opinion.

“Oh, wait until you see the inside.” You hear Elite say. You growled a little as if you’re thinking she’s correcting you.

You approach a fenced gate as Elite opens it. Thunderbolt closes it behind you as you all continued walking. You’re just looking forward, minding your own business. As Applejack’s face turns into… Not horror, not amazement. But, something else. She taps you on the shoulder.

“Look.” She said pointing to your right.

You looked to where Applejack’s pointing. You noticed that a shark is being carried on a lift. Except this shark is… Ten, fifteen feet? You stop to watch as the shark is being slowly lowered into the water. You can also hear two people chatting as the shark thrashes around a bit. That has to be a great white by your books.

“What do you think, man?! He’s beautiful!”

“I say he is! How big is he?”

“Fifteen feet! He’s just a baby, man!”

“I see! Alright, let’s put him to his new home, ay?”

“You got it boss!”

They lowered the shark into the water. It thrashes and splashes the water all over the place as it finally moves out of the lift. One of the guys starts speaking again.

“Alright, I’ll be right back! I’m gonna go change to see if this bad boy’s got anything good!”

“Alright, homie!”

You see him coming your way. He greets you and Applejack as he stops and talks to Thunderbolt.

“Hey, are those the two that you said they’re visiting for a few days?”

“Yeah man.” Thunderbolt says. “Their parents said they’re cool with it.”

“Alright.” He said as he looks at the both of you. Then back at Thunderbolt. “Keep an eye on them, alright?”

“You got it.” Thunderbolt said as the guy walked away.

“Who was that?” You asked.

“That’s Draft Down.” Thunderbolt said. “He’s the shark expert.

“Uh, shark expert?” Applejack asked lifting an eyebrow.

“You’ll see what I mean.” Thunderbolt said as he looks into the water where they lowered the shark.

“Wait a second.” You said. “You’re telling me… he’s gonna be swimming with that shark?”

“Yeah.” Thunderbolt said as he places his arms on the railing. Elite does the same.

“He’s the only shark expert around here. He knows how to work with them.” She says.

“Heh, just like Fluttershy.” Applejack jokes.

“That guy’s crazy.” You said

“You think I’m crazy?” Draft Down said as he comes out with his swimming trunks. “Watch this.” He puts on his flip flops and his swimming mask on as he slowly walks over to the edge and jumps right in.

“HEY!” You screamed. But Thunderbolt stops you.

“Relax. He knows what he’s doing.” He says. You calmed down a little as you watch him swim. You look to the left as the shark begins to swim around with its dorsal fin out of the water.

Until the shark finally charges at him. You and Applejack start to feel nervous that the shark might take a bite out of him. But thankfully, you thought wrong. The shark swims past him as Draft Down grabs a hold of the shark. You can just see him reach for something in the shark’s mouth.

He finally lets go of the shark as he starts to swim to the closes ladder. You and Applejack run to him as Draft Down tosses a piece of trash on the dock.

“What was that?” You asked.

“That was something I learned. Pretty amazing, right?” He asked you.

“So… He never took a bite out of you?” Applejack asked.

“Eh, they don’t really like the taste of us very much.” Draft Down said as he climbs up the ladder. “They’ll bite ya. But, they’ll probably think you’re a big, fat seal.” He joked. You look back into the water as you see the shark just swimming around as it normally would.

“Never knew that.” You said, looking at him.

“Yeah.” He sits down as he take off his flippers. “So who are you two? Never seen a couple of teenagers here before.”

You introduce yourself. “And this is Applejack. My dad wanted me to stay here for a few days with a friend.”

“Oh yeah, Thunderbolt told us that before.” He said grabbing his flippers while slowly standing up. “He never stopped talking about it for two weeks. That bastard hardly ever shuts up.” He jokingly groaned with a smile.

“Hey!” You hear Thunderbolt.

With a chuckle he flinched his shoulders as he waved his flippers, “Relax man, I’m just teasing!”

“So… Is that the only shark ya’ll have?” Applejack asks.

“Oh, he’s just nothing. This next one’s back this way.” Elite says as you and Applejack follow her. She opens the gate that wasn’t too far away. However, it might be right next to the tank that fifteen footer’s in.

“Behold. The record breaking thirty foot female great white shark.” Elite says as you see the giant shadow of a shark swim by.

“Whoa.” You and Applejack said together.

“Indeed. We found her outside this place. So… to study how big she got, we decided to just let her stay here for a while.” Elite says as she looks at the both of you. You gave her the look of what looks like freight.

“You’re crazy. How can you keep a shark that big here?” You ask. Elite doesn’t respond. Does she think your question might be that stupid? You walk away from this as if nothing happened.

“Don’t mind him.” Said Applejack. “He’s, uh…Not really in for this.”

“Gotcha.” Elite says as her and Aj went back to you and Thunderbolt.

“So, why don’t we show you your room where you both will be staying at?” Elite asks.

“Sounds great!” Applejack replies. You just stay silent most of the time.

“Here you are.” Thunderbolt says as you and Applejack walk in your room. It’s not that small. It’s just not like your ordinary room at your house. “Let us know if you need anything.”

“Thanks Thunderbolt.” Applejack said as Thunderbolt shuts the door. You set your stuff down on the bed and sit on it.

You look out the window and take a good underwater view. You can just see that fifteen foot great white shark swim around. While the thirty footer is just swimming around as well. Like those two sharks don’t really bother each other. Scary, but beautiful at the same time.

“What do you think?” Applejack said as she sets her bag down on the bed and looks out the window. You take your eyes off the window to look at her for a second.

“It’s… Actually not that bad, I guess.” You said as you look back out the window.

“I know. I mean, keeping a shark that big here? I wonder how they even feed that thing.” Applejack says as she rests her head on her fists while looking out the window.

“Eh, who knows. Maybe they feed it some type of meat like most sharks eat in the open ocean.” You guess in a nonchalant tone without a care in the world.

“Come on now.” Applejack chuckles nudging you. “Can’t you just give it a try? It’ll only be a few days. Then you won’t have to worry about this place anymore. Please?” She said as she makes that puppy dog face.

“Dammit Aj. Not that face. Please, not the face.” You beg forcing yourself to look away only to lose in a fight against yourself and look back at her again. She’s still doing that face. “Ugh! Fine!”

Applejack hugs you as you groan having given into her once again, with grumpy looking face you ponder if she’s really a pony or some temptress who knows how to play you like a fiddle.

“Thanks.” She said as she finishes the sentence with your name. “You’re a real pal.”

You grunted looking around seeing the playful taunts of the other stallions around you, while Applejack still holds you she is unaware of one stallion whose started hinting on how the two of you should kiss. His hand was cupped as though holding the back of somepony’s head as he passionately made out with a nonexistent pair of lips.

His actions made you made you feel awkward as you thought to yourself, ‘I wish I was at home right now.’

Hours pass as you and Applejack wander around the complex after your little tour, before too long the two of you find yourselves out upon the dock. It was now feeding time for the sharks, a small thing you and Aj wanted to see. Though some areas of the complex were well lit (more specifically around the shark tanks), the two of you could see the moon had slowly started to rise into the night sky surrounded by countless twinkling stars.

You stood at a bridge that’s just twenty feet above the water. Looking down you see a dorsal fin move across the water. Applejack stands right beside you as her arms rest on the railing just like you are.

“Hey, are you two gonna stand up there all night, or are you gonna watch the sharks tear up something?” Thunderbolt said jokingly to you both. You and Aj looked at each other and shrugged as you both walked down to the level to where you can see the sharks.

“Alright. Elite, shine the light!” Thunderbolt called out. Elite shines the light at the two deadly predators. “Feeding time.” Thunderbolt said mumbly. He gets to a control system that’s right next to the lift. On the lift, there are two seals thrashing on the lift.

“Where did they get those seals?” You asked yourself.

“I dunno.” Applejack shrugged as you both watch the seals get lowered.

“You two hungry?” Thunderbolt rhetorically asked the sharks.

The seals finally reach the water as they start swimming around for a bit. The two sharks start charging at the seals as one of them tries to reach the dock where you’re standing. As the giant thirty foot female grabs it, and thrashes around violently tearing into the seal. Splashing water all over the place you all watch as the water turns slightly crimson in color, slowly thinning out into a faint pink as bits and chunks of flesh began to float in the water. Before either Applejack or you knew what was going on the fifteen footer grabbed hold of the other one, and thrashes it around as the other had before it.

As he was done with that seal, he moved toward the thirty footer. The giant beast is still thrashing the seal around violently. Blood splashing on the dock as the fifteen foot shark comes in, bites the other half of the seal as the seal is finally split into two. The sharks swim away with their meals as they swallowed them whole.

“Goddamn.” You said as Applejack on the other hand looks like she’s frightened. “You alright?” You asked.

“Yeah. That was… Really somethin’.” She said.

“That’s how they feed.” Thunderbolt said as he approached you two. “Anyways, you two hungry?”

After watching that you question if you could really eat anything, “Sure, I guess we can have a little something to eat.” You said as you looked at the sharks pondering if watching them tear up those seals caused a faint want to eat, “If we don’t watch the sharks eat something.”

“Good call.” Applejack agreed.

A few minutes pass as you’re all eating at the table. Fresh food for everyone as they all chit-chat about today. You on the other hand haven’t said a word since you and Aj sat down.

“What’s wrong, sugarcube? Not like your pizza?” Applejack ask as she takes a bite out of her apple.

“No. It’s just that… I don’t know what it is.” You said as you stare at your pizza. You lift it up with your hands and you take a bite out of your slice. “Huh, nat bad.” You begin to eat the entire sire slice as Applejack speaks again.

“Is it about the trip?”

You soon finished your slice as you looked at her. “Well… It kinda is. I’m still not sure why my dad wanted me to go. I mean, seriously. Why though? I don’t get it.”

“He wanted you to have a good time.” Thunderbolt chimes in sparking a baffled look out of you and Aj as the two of you look at him. “Sorry to get in your conversation. But, didn’t your dad tell you that he wanted you to have a good time?” He asked you.

“He did. But I still don’t know why.” You said as you take a slurp of your soda.

“Because your dad loves you. No matter what.” Thunderbolt said. You set your cup down and you just gave him that look. Not anger, not sadness. But, just a blank expression.

“Okay.” Was all you can really say unsure as to how to respond.

“How are you holding up?” Said a lady behind you. It wasn’t Elite, that’s for sure. You turned around as you see a woman in the same white jacket as everyone else is wearing.

“Um… Okay?” You said.

“Everything’s great!” Applejack said. The lady sat down next to you.

“Is everything alright?” She asks you.

“Oh, this is Alaina. She’s the main one who studies the sharks around here.” Thunderbolt says as he introduces you and Aj to her.

Alaina giggles a bit. “Thanks Thunderbolt. But, I prefer introducing myself to people next time.”

“Whatever you say.” Thunderbolt says as he just sits there. You come in to talk to Alaina about your trip.

“Well… I’m not sure. I wasn’t really planning for this trip my dad had for me. I mean, studying stuff like sharks, whales, or dolphins? Is it all we came here for? Or, is it just to get even more boring than it was?” You faced Alaina as you gave her a look of what looks like you’re a bit mad.

Alaina takes a deep breath as she looks at you.

“Listen, I’m not too sure what to tell you. But, if your dad wanted you to come here, he wanted you to have fun. Maybe… Learn a few things here and there.”

“Yeah, maybe learn about really boring stuff.” You said as you got up and you start walking back to the room.

“Sorry about that. I’ll go talk to him.” Applejack said as she gets up and walks towards your way.

Waiting on an elevator you stood there pondering the exact reason, sure to have fun and possibly learn something but why exactly? As you thought more and more about it your mind shifted back to the conversation only a moment ago, you did feel bad at what you just said back there. But, you’re just not feeling it today.

“Hey!” Applejack said as she calls out for you. You look back a bit as you can see her coming down the hallway. “What was that all about?” She asks.

“I’m sorry Applejack.” You said as the elevator door opens. “I just can’t understand about why I’m really here.”

“Sugarcube, listen.” She said as she gets in the elevator with you. “It doesn’t matter what your dad wants you to do. He loves you no matter what. He sent you here to have some fun time. Maybe to get away from the house for a while. I dunno. Don’t you remember what I told you earlier?”

You just look at her as the elevator hasn’t moved once. You just want to press that button to go back to your room and just lay in the bed. But, Applejack’s little speech is starting to hit you.

“Yeah… I do.” You said as you looked away from her.

“Just try to have fun this one time. Please?” Applejack said to you. You take a deep sigh and you nod your head.

“I’ll try.” You said quietly mostly hoping she doesn’t give you those puppy dog eyes again.

“There’s no need to get mad at your dad for this, sugarcube. You shouldn’t be mad. Just lighten up. Maybe… Think about Pinkie’s jokes or somethin’. I hate to see you like this.” She said as she lifts your head up for you to look at her. “But at least you’re agreeing to this. Aren’t you?”

“Yeah. I’ll try to act up this time.” You said to her. Aj nods her head as you follow her to the outside. Everyone’s already chit-chatting again.

You start to walk to the table a pensive expression upon your face. Just walking slowly with Aj keeping close behind you.

“God dammit, Matt! You just had to, didn’t you?!” You hear Thunderbolt say jokingly as everyone starts to laugh.

“Hey, come on, man. At least you can’t say I did.” Matt said laughing out loud. You remember you met Matt below deck when you and Applejack were just having a small tour of the underwater laboratory.

You sat at the table a bit further away from them, as you sat there quiet most of the time. Applejack sits beside you as she places an arm on your back as she rubs it. You didn’t mind it. It’s just so you can calm down from your temper a little bit from being angry at your dad.

Little time passes as you and Applejack finally head off to bed, as the two of you walk away you hear the playful teasing from some of the guys about no baby making. Once in the room you sat down upon your side of the bed while Applejack lies down pulling the covers over herself.

“Coming to bed?” She asks you.

“Yeah. Sorry.” You said as you lay down and place the covers over yourself as well.

It feels weird as you’re sleeping with Applejack, sure she was cute and all but she was simply a friend. But, you really didn’t care very much as you face away from her trying to put the thought as far away from your mind as possible.

“Look, I know that you probably didn’t feel like yourself today. Even if we left the harbor back in Canterlot. But just wait sugarcube, it’s only a few days. I promise, if we leave this place in a few days. You won’t have to worry about it ever again.” She said as she rubs your shoulder.

“Yeah, I know.” You said quietly. Applejack doesn’t say anything more on the matter as she turned around to shut off the lamp, “Well… Goodnight.” She said as she gets comfy.

“Night.” You said as the both of you went to sleep.
