A Broken Crystal

Prologue.

The loud sound of steel buckling and bending rang out across the ocean, sending chills to run down of the spine of the crew aboard the H.M.S Cadenza as their ship's sister ship, H.M.S Crystal Heart began to roll back up right. They looked on in horror as Crystal Heart's superstructure rose of the water, the ship's hull had crack open, leaving her with a sharp hump. The weight of the ship caused the crack to close up, but caused her to buckle the other way, her bow and stern rose out of the water as her back broke, the final piece of her hull, her keel, broke and tore like a piece of paper.

Crystal Heart's stern fell level before keeling over to port, it leaned over to where it broke and slowly sank intact, the flag of the Union Jack fluttered in the wind as the flag pole disappeared into the darkness. Her bow stayed afloat, leaning toward the broken end, the forward funnel hung over the edge of the break, it toppled back and fell into the ocean, the ripples from its impact with the water sent a small wave into her magazine, knocking over the metal ladder. It caused a spark that landed on a crate of unused explosives, they sparked up and burst into flame. The bow of Crystal Heart shook as a large explosion ripped her apart, her forward guns, her bridge and radar dish and most of her superstructure were blown off, she slightly jumped out of the water by the force of her magazine exploding.

Now a flaming hulk, Crystal Heart slowly slipped back, her now deformed bow rose up as water began to floor her insides, most of the crew that survived the explosion watch as their ship slowly sank into the ocean, her crest, a crystal heart, was the last piece of the ship to leave the surface as she began her two and half mile descent into darkness, her lights flickered out, leaving her in darkness. A Loud explosion echoed through the water as the areas of hull that weren't flooded had imploded by the crushing pressure. She groaned as she disappeared.
