[ Dinner With A Drake ]
Bon hummed softly while making tonights feast. You were sitting quietly with a worried expression, your hands holding your head. The day had finally come, after a week of waiting for Twi's response she finally said that she and Spike would love to come. You'd all be sitting here, together, eating and chatting. What would Spike say? What would you say? Well first you'd complement him, and no staring...absolutely no staring. Oh, and don't get too close, a hug is nice, but nothing more. You started breathing deeply, at any moment Lyra would be back with Twi and Spike. You'd be expected to 'make a move' on Spike, I mean, you didn't listen to Lyra gab on about love for nothing. You were startled out of your day-dreaming as the sound of vegetables sizziling grew louder. You looked up to see Bon stir-fry greens and tomatoes, the second being your least favorite food. You sighed, kind of wanting Bon to ask you what's wrong. Blinking softly, you stared at Bon as she kept working diligently.
"Bon~?" You whine.
"What Anon?" Bon chuckled like an amused mother.
"I don't know what I should say to Spike..." You hid your face in your hands. "What if I creep him out?"
"Oh, Anon.." Bon turned to face you, a blue apron was fastened to her tightly. "Just be yourse"
"Bon!" You interject. "Please don't give me any of that 'Be yourself' stuff, Lyra's been telling me that for a week straight!"
She smiled warmly, turning around to stir the food. "Anon, I know you're nervous..." She let out a small sigh. "But I know you can do it."
You look up from your palms...maybe...Bon was righ
Click, Click..Creak..
OH SWEET FUCK! THEY'RE HERE.
Your heart begins to race, Spike was coming this way and you knew it. You practice your breathing methods, but you sound more like a husky that just ran three iditarods in a row. Your fingers tap the table with blazing speed, right now nervous was your middle name.
"Here they are!" Lyra sang leading Twilight and a much taller Spike into the room.
Fuckfuckfuckfuck, he's so cute! You smile slightly, directing a wave towards Spike. He smiles brightly and waves back at you, what an angel. Lyra's mouth moved as she spoke to everyone, but all of your senses were focused on Spike. Bon trotted over to tap you, your eyes seemed to shrink in a startled manner.
"Right Anon?" Bon asked.
"I-well-j-s-sure..?" You shrugged pulling of an earnest, yet confused, smile.
"Alright, how's about we chow down?" Lyra beamed. "Twi can you sit on that end of the table, and Spike...sit by Anon."
Your stomach made a gurgling sound, your eyes shift to Lyra her face showed nothing more than smug pride. Spike slowly walked to the empty chair beside you, as he got closer a small part of you wanted to round-house kick the chair away. He flashed a smile at you as pulled out his chair and sat neatly. You hunched over the table setting your elbows down, you began tapping your fingers down on the wooden table. Bon and Lyra slowly set the table, keeping up small chit-chat with Twilight. You glanced at Spike, he looked as bored as he could ever look. You have to talk to him...don't you?
"So!" You outburst in Spike's direction, startling him. "How's it going?"
"Ah, well life couldn't be better." Spike replied. "We had another booksorcation last weekend..."
You chuckle. "Was it boring?"
He nods giggling a bit. "It's always boring."
"Feel sorry for you." You mindlessly blurt, but you catch yourself. "Not that cleaning every once in a while is..a bad thing persay..but I g-guess.."
Spike's smile faded as he watched you ramble, slowly giving you a please shut up face. You look at him, your voice trailing off in an instant. Smooth move hot- Oh, you get the point. He looks towards the mares as they chat and fix the plates, leaving you to stare at your hands as you lace your fingers together. There's no room for error, not after the chat you and Lyra had about this.
"Alrighty, Veg-Time!" Bon spouted, which was usual to you since she did this everytime you guys had somepony over for dinner.
Finally, atleast the whole weird talking part was over; now you could stuff your face to avoid an further mistakes. As everypony settled down you sighed, a plate was placed in front of you. Without hesitation you pick up your fork, shoveling vegetables down your gullet to avoid any conversation. You pick through a mountain of tomatoes, making sure to accentuate your chewing so that no questions are directed your way. You feel someone staring at you, looking up to see Lyra giving you a face of dissapointment. You simply shrug and continue eating.
"So, Anon." You hear Lyra's voice ring. "Aren't you happy our pals could make it?"
Curse that mare!
"A-ah, yesh." You say through a bit of lettuce.
"We're glad we could come too," Twilight states. "Spike was happy to have a break from cleaning."
You eye Spike seeing him pick at his food as he looks around the table. He nods, glancing off to the side.
"Er, we're all happy you're staying." Bon smiles. "Hope you feel at home."
Then there's silence.
You take the silence lightly, continuing to eat.
The silence carries on throughout the rest of dinner.
