Chapters A pony was dead.
No one knew who did it, or why.
But there were ponies who would try to find the sick pony who did it.
The Equestrian police.
They surrounded to crime scene with cameras and police tape, Detective Blan was looking directly into the eyes of the body when a young pony with brown hair and a dark green coat swooped in and started to fiddle with the bodies teeth: Edward Green, head of forensics.
"Edd...what in Equestria are you doing?" DT Blan asked thoroughly,
"Trying to determine the time of death using the gum exposure of sunlight" Edward replied quickly...he knew what he was doing...he was smart like that...he WILL figure out this mysterious murder and would be recognized for doing so.
When suddenly Twilight Sparkle and her friends walked onto the crime scene and started talking to the other policemen, this was very odd...why was Twilight Sparkle here? Edward walked up to them as Twilight looked at him and asked "So...what do we have here?"
"A bloody knife, without a face, A bleeding man with no faith, nothing to print, not a single hint, what am I?" Edd replied
"I'm sorry?" Twilight stuttered
"Its a riddle...figure it out" Edward said sternly
"um...oh I know...its a murder mystery?" Twilight said with a smile, as for Edward...his smile had vanished...he didn't expect her to figure that out so fast..."Ignore him Miss Sparkle" DT Blan interrupted
"oh its no trouble detective...I love a good puzzle" Twilight beamed "So we have a body with a knife in his chest and..."
"He was murdered exactly at 8 'o' clock at night" Edward chipped in...with a smug grin
"How did...you know that?" Twilight asked, Edds grin grew bigger as he turned to write down his notes for this very...peculiar murder.
Back at the police station Edward was looking at his notes again...who could of murdered this man...he had his look at the body and only knew that he was killed at 8 'o' clock at night, had wobbly teeth and had...a broken horn...interesting...he looked at the photo again and noticed a green crystallised powder on the broken horn...he had to tell DT Blan immediately, this was so exciting.
"Detective Blan, I have something concerning the mystery murder!!" Edward shouted
"Oh...um...well just leave it on my desk and ill send it to Twilight when I can" Blan replied
"What...why Twilight...she's not a police officer" Edward said...confused
"Princess Celestia wants Twilight and her friends to figure it out" Blan gave Edd a sheet of paper written by the princess herself asking for the case to be handed over to Twilight and her friends...

When Edd got home he was angry...he pushed over a table and shouted to himself...TWILIGHT SPARKLE IS NOT A POLICE OFFICER AND SHE IS RUINING MY CHANCE OF BEING NOTICED FOR ONCE!!! Once Edd calmed down he decided to make himself a drink and turn in for the night...he would send a letter of complaint to the princess if he had to...he had to do something about this.
Outside of Edds window was some sort of green smoke...it was watching him...it was alive...it was bad news...
Dear Princess Celestia,
I have recently discovered of your recent request to have Twilight Sparkle and her friends study a very peculiar murder case.
I am not very happy with this request as Twilight and her....group are not official police detectives and should not be able to be given access to this mystery case.

Edward Green.
Edward placed the letter into a post box near his house and headed up the street to the CPD (Canterlot Police Department) station as he needed to have another look at the body before it was taken away. Once he got to the police morgue and pulled out the corpse from the other day and studied it closer...the same dust was on the other half of the broken horn...interesting...he needed to try something,
Using his own horn he levitated a pen on the table and placed it under a microscope...small particles of green dust were surrounding the pen...interesting...very interesting...he started to pick up a mug when suddenly Detective Blan burst in, "Edd what the hell are you doing in here?"
"Im...studying the body" Edd replied
"This is not your case anymore" Blan muttered...as he said this Twilight Sparkle walked in with a body bag and a metallic table with wheels...
"Hello Edward...Green is it?" Twilight asked
"Yes...yes it is" Edd replied...trying not to show his anger at her being here. Twilight then put the body in the bag and wheeled it out of the station...Edd was watching...he scowled
"You could figure it out"
Edward heard a mysterious voice which sounded like it was next to him but couldn't see anyone in the room with him...how strange
"Your smart like that"
Edward looked around...no one was there...he shrugged it off and went back to his office with his notes, but as he left Edward Green never heard or even saw a mysterious green pony made of some sort of gas pick up a pen and look at it,
"I have big plans for you Edward Green, big plans"
Edward Green opened the door of his office and noticed a mare stood at his desk...placing down some files
"Oh hello Mr Green" The mare who said this was called Miss Hearthswarm and she had a soft brown coat and blond mane...and just like Edd had glasses, "Hello, Miss Hearthswarm" Edd replied softly "How are you this evening?"
"I'm fine Edd...I have to go now" Miss heartswarm started to head out the door
"Your name is very strange isn't it?" Edd said quickly
"Excuse me?" Miss Hearthswarm replied
"Hearthswarm, very strange...based off the legend of the birth of Equestria" Edward Stated "However did you get that name?"
"Well If you excuse me" Miss Hearthswarm barged past Edd ignoring his question as Edd stared with disappointed eyes...he really like Miss Hearthswarm...she was smart...funny...what's not to love...and he blew it.
"That went well"
Edd swung round but no one was there...just his imagination...right? He sat at his office and grabbed his note pad and started writing down his recently discovered theory:
When magic is used on objects it creates small particles of green dust that are left behind...but there was loads of green dust on the horn...most likely showing the power connection between the horn of the body and the horn of the killer...the killer...was a unicorn.
"DETECTIVE BLAN!" Edd ran as fast he could to DT Blan to tell him about what he found
"What is it Edd?" Blan replied
"The killer was a unicorn as the green dust signifies that a magical source was used to tear the horn off the body so he couldn't fight back...and the dust is biologically created meaning its got to be a unicorn" Edward spoke incredibly quickly when he said this
"What are you talking about?" Blan muttered
"The mystery case" Edd explained
"Oh for Celestias sake Edd...that's Twilights case now" Blan hastily replied
"WELL, SHE KNOWS NOTHING!!!" Edd shouted loudly...all eyes were on him "Sorry...im going to go"
Soon as he shouted Edd knew he made a mistake...he quickly rushed out of the station and stood outside until he finally decided to take a trip to Ponyville,he needed to solve this murder before Twilight, so he got on the train to Ponyville and went straight to the morgue...he was allowed to go in as he had his police credentials with him and could pretty much go anywhere. He wandered around a little until finally he saw the dead unicorn lying on the metallic table with different tools next to the corpse, "Here we go" Edd thought as he started to take a closer look at the stab wound of the body: 1 inch knife straight through the heart...interesting...only one knife...how did he die so fast? Edd looked closer and saw a rim of purple around the wound, POISON!! How could he of missed it...a knife covered in poison plunged into the heart and a broken horn forced off so the unicorn couldn't fight back while he slowly died of blood loss and the poison in the wound. This murderer, whoever he was, was an absolute genius, a professional even...
Suddenly Twilight Sparkle and a rainbow haired pegasi named Rainbow Dash came into the room, "Edd...what are you doing here for?" Twilight asked
"I came to see if you need any help...just in case you needed...it" Edd lied
"Well she doesn't need your help" Rainbow chipped in "She is the smartest pony I've ever met and she wont need your help pipsqueak"
"don't call me...pipsqueak" Edd was offended...how could she say that...Twilight wasn't smarter than him...no one was
"Edd...you have to leave...the princess trusted me with this case and I think you should just leave it alone" Twilight told him, all Edd did was scowl, she was so ignorant...she's not even a police officer...he had to do something...he HAS to solve it before she did..."Fair enough, goodbye" Edd left without any other word and went straight home...wondering to himself...
what do I do now?
Well...HE would solve it before Twilight did...he would be triumphant and get what he wanted...recognition...and he would win...he always did...but the question was, how was he going to win.
"All he needs is a little push" Said the green smoke standing over Edd as he slept "And he will fall...very...very...soon"
Edward walked into the CPD Station and noticed that Twilight Sparkle was standing outside his office.
"Ah...Mr Green I've been meaning to speak with you" Twilight said
"Oh...about what?" Edward asked
"The murder case that I'm investigating" Twilight replied "This case seems to be something your really intrigued by"
"Yes" Edward said "It is"
"Well I'm going to be nice" Twilight said "Five minutes with the body and the weapon"
this was his chance to finally prove he could solve the case
"Sure" Edward grinned as he walked into the room where the body was being kept, "Okay...here we go" Edd saw specks of blood on the back hooves and examined them...it identified as the victims blood but also seemed to identify as a Mr Meurtre (the surname seemed French)...he was the murderer...but how did Mr Meurtre's blood get on the victims back hoof?:
The victim was attacked with the knife and then decided to kick the attacker, making him bleed a little, the attacker then stabbed the victim which then led to the attacker ripping off the victims horn.
Edd wrote everything down into his note book. But when he was about to leave and tell Twilight the case was solved, someone...well...something was standing there...it was some sort of green, ghost pony...but then Edd noticed who this thing looked like: It looked like HIM!
"Hello, Edward Green...how are you?" The thing said
"Who are you?" Edward asked
"We will talk about that later!" The thing looked at him with a grin that could kill...he looked exactly like Edward except he had a green tinge and wasn't wearing glasses "Don't tell Twilight about your...findings"
"What...why not?" Edward stuttered
"What has she ever done for you?" The thing asked "YOU solved this murder...she didn't...why should she get the credit?"
"I'm sure she will tell Celestia about me" Edward said
"And risk her begin failed?" The thing suggested "She was given a test by Celestia and she wants her to think she passed...by saying she solved it" , Edd thought about this and turned around to clean the blood of the bodies hooves.
Edward left the morgue with a smile "I couldn't find anything" He lied "This ones a real mystery"
"Are you sure?" Twilight looked worried "You couldn't find anything?"
"Nope" Edward said before leaving the CPD Station
*six hours later*
Edd stood at the door of the person who murdered that poor unicorn, "Okay...walk in...call DT Blan and arrest him" Edd said out loud
"You are really boring" The ghost...Edd was leaning on the wall next to Edd "This guy has caused you so much trouble...just kill him"
"What!?" Edd shouted "No...killing is wrong!"
"For god sake just do it!!!" The ghost looked angry as it said this
Edd knocked on the door and watched as the door opened...
