Few ponies know the true nature of dragons. The culture and lifestyles of these winged beasts are shrouded in mystery. This is likely a result of the massive size difference and the vicious stigma that hovers over these creatures. In most cases, ponies give dragons their wide berth. In the distant dragon lands, a fair distance away from the pony kingdom of Equestria, societies of dragons live out their lives practically unimpeded.
For many dragons, measurements of strength and wealth are held above all else. Rites of passage like tail wrestling and treasure hunting are trials that all dragons have to pass through if they hope to be respected by their peers. For most, these challenges can be easily conquered, but not all can hope to take on “alpha-like” status in their society.
Fizzle, a meek and quiet sort was one of these dragons. The pink dragon saw very little use with showing off or proving to others that he was strong or could gather the most gemstones. He spent his life out of the way of the limelight, cleverly avoiding any public embarrassment that may bring light to his shortcomings.
Where his friends spent countless hours down near the local lava pits, sparring one another in trivial tournaments for dominance, Fizzle was perfectly content with being alone.
Today he was spending his afternoon quietly in his cave. He peacefully rested ontop his bed, blankly staring up at the ceiling. One would think he was deep in thought with the contemplative expression he wore, but in reality he was practically sleeping with his eyes open, hardly aware of the world around him. He daydreamed the minutes away.
It wasn’t until his good friend Garble came in that the pink dragon finally broke free of his lazy daze. The red dragon was noticeably better built than the thin Fizzle. The tough dragon was held in the highest regard in their usual circle of friends, typically winning almost every tail wrestling match he was thrown into. He had gathered quite the reputation of being one of the stronger dragons in their group.
“Hey Fizz, the guys are meeting down by the lava pits,” Garble said as he peeked his head into the room, “Spikes over for a visit. Ya coming?”
Fizzle lifted his head, “oh, yeah, I’ll be right down.”
With that said, Garble simply nodded and disappeared as quickly as he appeared. He didn’t wait around for Fizzle, much too interested in getting back to the group to even taken notice. Fizzle eventually followed, trailing far behind the stronger dragon.
Down by the lava pits the group had already gotten into a fierce tail wrestling match by the time Fizzle joined them. The group of about eight or ten dragons stood around in a circle as two dragons locked tails with one another in the center. The crowd cheered them on as the two dragons intensely tugged against each other. Both dragons held up well against their strong opponent.
“I got winner!” Garble called out, pounding his fist into his palm.
Beside the red dragon stood Spike, the newest and youngest edition to their group. The younger dragon looked on as the competitive games continued. Fizzle decided to take his spot next to them, finding some strange amount of safety among the two.
Fizzle was never much of a fan of participating in the fierce tail wrestling games. He was really not much of a strong dragon to begin with. The thinner dragon would always avoid joining in, coming up with quick excuses if need be. Luck for him, Spike also didn’t seem too interested in joining.
The two wrestling dragons continued to pull at each other. The crowd cheered them on as both of them put up quite the fight. The test of strength pushed both dragons to their limits.
Finally, in one forceful move, one of the wrestling dragons were flung to the ground. The defeated dragon flew to the floor with great exercision, knocking him out in the process. The dragons around them cheered, celebrating the victor who stood proudly over his triumph.
Garble jumped into the freight almost immediately after, the crowd responded in kind. Hardly faulted by his recent match, the winning dragon jumped in quickly, gladly accepting his new competitor. The other dragons cheered as the games began once more. Spike couldn’t help but get into the mood, cheering along with the rest of the group.
“Hey Spike, what’s it like livin’ with all those ponies?” A dragon from the circle asked the smaller dragon.
“Oh, it’s alright,” Spike shrugged, “I mean it’s kinda different from you guys. There’s much less tail wrestling and lava baths.” To Fizzle, this sounded like a much easier place to live. “Twilight doesn’t usually like me doing rough stuff like that.”
“Sounds like those ponies really baby you,” the other dragon responded.
“Ha! Yeah, that’d make TWO babies in the group,” Garble chuckled, pointing back towards Fizzle, hardly losing his grip on the other dragon’s tail..
Fizzle’s ears droop as he took a timid step backwards. “I’m not a baby!” He attempted to defend himself. “I-I’m not!”
More of the group joined in as the teasing continued. A new dragon entered the conversation with a hearty laugh, “of course you are! Barely bringing any treasure back after our raids, never wrestlin’, always asking to be escorted to the bathroom at night.”
“Sometimes I get scared of the dark,” Fizzle meekly tried to defend himself, his hands nervously fidgeted in front of him.
The group responded with even more laughter. Garble continued, “and he’s got like the smallest treasure pile you’ve ever seen!”
Fizzle growled and stomped his foot. "I don't!" he tried to bellow, but involuntarily squeaked out. That only seemed to intensify the teasing.
“You TOTALLY do!” Another dragon spoke up, “you got the smallest treasure pile then any of us!”
“Do NOT!”
“A perfect sized hoard for a little baby,” another dragon commented.
“Yeah, a little baby hatchling,” chortled another, “need a diapee change, little hatchling?”
Fizzle scowled at the teasing dragons, “I’m not a hatchy!”
The pink dragon’s poor choice of words only intensified the group’s laughter and soon everyone was in mass hysterics. Even Spike smirked a tiny bit, getting into the flow of the group.
Fizzle’s cheeks flared up red when he realized his mistake. He huffed one last weak “quit it!” before he finally gave up. The group of laughing dragons showed no sign of stopping. Stretching out his wings, the pink dragon flew out of area before things got worse. He retained that same pouty scowl the whole way home as he flew back to safety.
“Will Fizzle be alright?” Spike asked as he watched the pink dragon disappear into the cave covered mountain.
“Ehh, he’ll be alright. He’s always throwing these tantrums,” Garble answered, shrugging the moment off, “let him have his hissy fit. I’ll talk to him later.”
And with that, the group turned back to the festivities. Most of them completely forgetting about Fizzle’s little spectacle.
Fizzle’s cave was a welcomed sanctuary from all the teasing. He huffed, angrily kicking a rock across the room when he entered. The rock barely reached the far wall as the pink dragon continued to fume.
“Baby...I’m NOT a baby! THEY’RE the babies!” He growled, throwing another rock, this one barely making it as far as the first. “I don’t even WANT a big treasure pile! It’s stupid!”
The dragon growled, kicking a few more rocks and even punching a rocky wall a couple times. At no point did he really leave any marks, only managing to bruise a knuckle more than anything else. The pain seemed to help him simmer down from the heated encounter.
He huffed, plopping down on his bed. “I’m not a baby...” He grumbled. He crossed his arms, angrily scowling at the ground as the heat of anger still warmed his chest. He caught a glimpse of his treasure pile, the small collection of gems and gold coins that he had amassed next to his bed. Looking at the pile just made him scowl even more.
The frustrated dragon pouted in his room for a few minutes as the anger eventually started to subside. Heated irritability slowly melted into tense agitation, which eventually morphed into quiet recollection.
“Need a diapee change, little hatchling?” A voice echoed in Fizzle’s mind as he recalled the events of the day. Despite all the infuriating teasing, that phrase continued to stand prominently in Fizzle’s mind. Anger fell way to curiosity as Fizzle transitioned from fuming to wonder. What would it feel like to wear a diaper again?
It was hardly a thought that crossed his mind before, but as the minutes went on it became more and more conspicuous. And with that curiosity came contemplative thought. He could barely remember being a hatchling, something like that was years ago. He quickly reasoned that everyone could barely remember those years. It was a long forgotten time, a time that suddenly made the pink dragon curious.
What would it feel like to wear a diaper again? Was he really curious enough to try it? It was a nagging feeling now, an urge that he never thought he’d feel.

With a flap of his wings, the pink dragon left his home and took to the skies. He effortlessly lifted into the sky, high above the clouds. The landscape below him shrunk with each wing flap.
As Fizzle glided through the air, the landscape below him changed from dark, rocky oranges to lush greens and flowing rivers. It was certainly a brighter land compared to the mountains he was use to.
Ponyville was a little settlement that rested in the valley of tall purple mountains. The quaint village even appeared friendlier than the dragon’s domain. The large cluster of yellow topped buildings seemed to sit peacefully on the land as tiny, multicolored ponies walked from one to the other. Life seemed noticeably different than the rough and tumble crowd Fizzle was use to.
Taking in a deep sigh, Fizzle lowered his altitude. When he landed, he attracted a few stares from passing ponies almost immediately. Some ponies seemed a bit uneasy seeing a dragon land in the middle of town, others hurried their walk to quickly pass the larger lizard. However as his visit continued, ponies around him started to lower their guard.
The fact of the matter, not many ponies saw him as a threat. They were intimidated at first, but there was something about Fizzle’s appearance that made ponies lower their guard rather quickly around him. Eventually he found himself blending in rather well. Blending in as well as a pink dragon could at least.
He journeyed onwards through the cobblestone streets of Ponyville. He passed a number of timber framed cottages that lined the quaint streets of the quiet town. Eventually the streets led him to a local convenience store, a single location where ponies could purchase all the necessities they might need.
The average sized store was a newer addition to the town, made obvious by the precise and angular architecture and it’s smooth tan rock exterior walls. Posters hung near the front doors advertising weekly sales on a number of items.
Fizzle entered the store and quickly moved past the row of registers that dotted the store’s front. He nervously ducked down into one of the aisles, worried that he’d run into someone he knew somehow. The store seemed mostly empty as ponies prefered to spend the day outside rather than inside the brightly lit store.
Aisles stretched down towards the back of the store, each kept meticulously organized to contain a set list of items. Down one aisle stood a wide variety of shampoos and hoof care products. Another aisle had rows of brightly colored pre-packaged foods for eating on the go. While another was fully stocked with pieces of parchment and quills.
The diaper aisle was easy to find, Fizzle just had to follow the smell of baby powder and other nursery scents. The aisle was lit up with brightly colored packages, each one competing to grab the attention of passing customers. The various brands lined the multiple shelves on both sides, all organized by size and age group.
Fizzle blushed as he passed the colorful baby diaper brands, too embarrassed to even look at the adorable prints that decorated each one. "Can I help you find anything?" a voice said from behind, causing Fizzle to jump.
"Ah! N-no! I was just looking!" Fizzle quickly replied before turning around.
Standing opposite of him was a light tan maned mare, about a head shorter than the pink dragon. She wore an open red vest embroidered with the store’s logo on the left side, a standard uniform for the stores employees. The vest only partially covered up a star shaped lily mark on her flank. She wore her mane in a clean side bun, free of any large strands of hair.
The brown pony blinked for a moment, looking over the pink dragon with a blank stare. It was clear that she wasn’t entirely convinced by Fizzle’s lie. "Are the diapers for a family member? Friend?"
"F-friend," Fizzle quickly answered, "y-yeah, it's for a prank. I'm getting him diapers as a prank."
"A prank, huh?" the brown pony said with a tap of her chin, "well if what you're looking for is embarrassing looking diapers, then you'll probably want these."
She motioned towards a brand of diapers that sat on the middle shelf. Picking up the pack to show the dragon revealed the true bulk of the package. The words “Silly Filly” dominated the soft package’s front face, showcasing the diapers’ features and design. A picture of a pink and purple hued diaper rested by one of it’s corners to advertise to the buyer.
Fizzle was quick to note the diapers’ design. "B-but they look so babyish! I don't need- I-I mean he wouldn't like how they look."
"They'd be the best you could get. Your...friend might appreciate the good ratings these diapers get." She flipped the package around to it’s back where walls of text and little captions explained important things like absorbency, snugness, and affordability. "I see a lot of ponies buy them for their absorbency alone."
Fizzle cleared his throat as he blushed, "a-and they'd fit...You know, someone my size?"
"Sure," the mare answered, holding back a smirk, "they'd fit someone your size just fine."
Fizzle awkwardly grabbed the package out of the pony's hooves. "Th-then I'll go with these then."
"Good choice," the mare answered with a single nod. "Do you want to get some wipes and baby powder as well?"
"Nah, I probably won't even- I-I mean my friend just needs the diapers!"
The mare smiled back, “just checking. I can ring you up if you take the package up to the registers.”
Fizzle blushed, holding the plastic package close to his chest. He scurried out of the baby powder smelling aisle and made a beeline for the cash registers in the front. All but one register was closed for the day. He was just thankful that the store was almost completely empty at this time of day.
He slipped into the sole open register line and awkwardly waited for the brown pony to join him. She eventually did so, calmly walking down the aisle and to her post at the register.
“Alright, one package of Silly Filly diapers,” the mare passively commented, dragging the package across the scanner. Fizzle shrunk a tiny bit, blushing as he looked around the empty store to see if anyone heard her.
Fizzle tried to pay for the diapers as quickly as possible, but it seemed like the mare was deliberately taking her time with bagging the soft plastic package. He could only stand there tense with fidgety nerves as she completed their transaction. His nervous and shy state seemed to only dilate time, making it move agonizingly slow.
“Have a good day,” the mare smiled, handing Fizzle his bags.
Fizzle practically snatched the bag out of the mare’s hooves at lightspeed. “You too!” And with that he was out of the line, toting his newest purchase close to his chest.

Despite what his worry filled imagination first thought, there were no angry mobs hunting him down nor were his friends waiting outside to point and laugh at the diaper loving dragon. In great contrast to his worries and anxiety, Fizzle found the reality of the situation quiet and uneventful. No one seemed to even care. He had to take a silent breath of relief after that.
Gripping the store bags tightly, Fizzle took to the skies once more. He felt less tense the farther up he went. The more he flapped, the less likely it was to be seen with such embarrassing cargo.
The journey back home felt much longer than it actually was. The worries of being caught with adult sized diapers certainly hung over the dragon’s head as a guilty and embarrassing thought. Why did he even get the baby printed ones? What was he thinking? He remained tense and nervous the whole flight back, eyes darting from left to right as he continued.
His home cave couldn’t come quick enough. The moment he set eyes on the structure, Fizzle swooped down into it, closing the door and covering up any windows that he could find. He holed himself up in his bedroom, quickly tossing the package of diapers onto his bed.

“Made it,” Fizzle exhaled, concluding the coast as clear.

“G-go away!” Fizzle squeaked, shaken up by the humiliating encounter. He fought back tears as he turned away from his friend. Never before had he been so embarrassed. “D-don’t even look at me!”
His friend’s quivering voice seemed to soften Garble’s advances. “Dude, it’s alright. I’m just kidding.” He did his best to ignore the lingering stench that hung in the room. “What are you even doing in a baby diaper anyway?”
Fizzle sniffled, holding back the tears that welled up in his eyes. “Y-you’ll just laugh at me,” he answered, his voice quivering a tiny bit.
“No, dude, I won’t,” Garble replied, forcing himself to take a step closer to the humiliated dragon, “I’m your friend. I won’t laugh. Promise.”
Fizzle sniffled a few more times, wiping a single tear out of his eye as he stared at the ground in embarrassment. “I...” he started, his voice quivering at the very thought of how humiliated he was, “I...was just...curious how it felt.”
“So you went off and soiled a baby diaper because you were ‘curious’?”
“G-Garble,” Fizzle weakly whined.
“You’re right, you’re right. Sorry, that was mean...”
There was another heavy pause of silence. “Look, I understand if you don’t want to be my friend anymore,” Fizzle answered with a sniffle or two breaking up his sentences. “Who would want to be friends with an embarrassment like me? A diaper wearing...coward!”
“Now wait a minute. I never said that,” Garble called out as he quickly closed the gap between the two ponies. “Sure this diaper thing is...weird...But I’m your friend.”
“This was stupid,” Fizzle shamed himself as tears trickled down his cheeks. “I should have never bought a pack of these stupid diapers.”
“A pack? You got a whole pack of them?”
“I shouldn’t have done it!” Fizzle exclaimed pounding his fist into his knee in a quick burst of angry energy. “Maybe you were right. Maybe I AM just a scared little hatchling...” The pink dragon fell silent after that, looking away from his friend as he barely held back more tears.
“You want a hug?” Garble asked as he opened up his arms. “If you think it’d help you feel better.”
Fizzle was quick to respond, quickly darting into the other dragon’s embrace and hooking his arms around him. Garble was taken aback a bit by the sudden movement, but regardlessly closed his arms around the other dragon’s back. Hugging wasn’t normally his thing and this one in particular seemed to go on just a little bit too long.
“I’m your friend, Fizz,” Garble started, “if you wanna wear diapers and use them then it’s fine by me.”
Little whimpers slipped out of Fizzle as he found some comfort in his friend’s embrace. “Th-thanks Garble,” he answered back, his voice quivering a bit. He leaned further into the hug, practically curling up in Garble’s arms.
During their friendship hug, Garble couldn’t help but steal a glance down at Fizzle’s diaper. From the back, he got a whole different view on the garment. The firm mess inside had propped the back part open, allowing more of the foul odor to seep out of it. And with Garble’s head hanging over Fizzle’s shoulder, he got the full brunt of the stench.
“And uhm...Fizz...” Garble started to say, doing his best not to gag, “you still need a change. Badly.”
