Quinten took a soft, slow breath through his nose, letting the air whistle back out the way it had come in, fogging up the cool mirror he was leaning against. Quinten looked above the book and focused, projecting a floating ball of glittering blue magic before him, the magic swirled and shifted in the air as it held itself in place. Quinten looked back down at the book as he maintained it.
“Next, you will have to find how you hypnotise your target, this varies from pony to pony. Tt can be swirls, colourful rings, and entire colour changes, anything. To find this out, focus on what you want in your mind, picture the pony before you, sitting on his or her haunches staring up at the bubbling magic in awe.”
Quinten closed his eyes, an image of the Princess of magic appeared, Twilight Sparkle. Quinten spent several hours reading the book, he was rarely ever so engrossed in a book like this. It was often the start of the tours.
Quinten made his way through the little sleepy village, glancing automatically at the various little cottages at equally spaced out intervals, the long walls of shadows looming over him from the low sun. The stallion watched a small group of mares trot briskly towards the town market, eagerly chatting and giggling as gossip was traded before goods and bits would be. The cottages began to space further and further out as the more solitary seeking, and more pocket lined, villagers demanded more space from their bothersome neighbours.
Twilight’s gleaming castle stood proud before Quinten now, the winding trail towards it empty of visiting ponies. Hopefully that meant Twilight was on her own… Assuming she was awake. Quinten began to hear soft clopping, the sound of a pony walking steadily towards the door. Quinten upped the magic, this would take focus.
Quinten’s horn glowed with the softly pulsing light of hypnosis, but in the depths of his levitation magic it blended in almost perfectly, only the sharpest of ponies would notice. Quinten smiled then jumped a little as the door opened with a click.
“Oh, hello Quin.” Twilight said with a bright, alert smile “What brings you here?” Twilight asked.
“I erm… Was hoping…” Oh god, Quinten had hoped the hypnosis would work faster, but Twilight didn’t appear to have even made eye contact with it yet “I… Wanted to catch up with how you are… After all you go around Equestria at the drop of a hat, must learn so much.” Quinten said, trying to stroke Twilight’s natural learner side and dream of teaching.
