Dear Rarity,
Is this stupid? Yes, I know that and I am a fool for keeping this from you for so long. I know you are confused about this. By the time you're reading this I'll already be gone–Or at least I think, Derpy has never been good with dates. I've had a great time as Twilight's assistant and being a friend to everypony. You know, I have grown bored of being Twilight's assistant. Don't get me wrong, I love Twilight. She's the closest thing to a mother I'll ever have. But I'm in my thirties and the mission of exploring lands nopony has ever gone to fascinates me. It won't be easy to leave all of you since you all have been such great mother figures to me. I know the party Pinkie is going to throw will be awesome, but I need to cut to the chase.
Do you remember when I first met you? It was the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration and Twilight was here to check up on the preparations. Boy, was I mesmerized by your beauty. I was an idiot back then, but hey I was like twelve. I know you knew I had a slight case of puppy love for you. Everypony knew I liked you and I would do anything for you. Now, since I'm older, I'll still do anything for you. But I would do that to any of my friends. Ponies just thought I grew out of it and faced the fact I have been friend-zoned.
I'm really happy for you and Applejack when you two started dating when I was seventeen or eighteen. I was still a child and I still had a crush on you. I was a little bit saddened, but I'm really happy for you two and you're going to be a mother soon, because of that spell, which makes same sex couples have children. Unfortunately I won't be there for the child’s birth, but I hope your daughter is the best thing of your life. I and everypony else never thought you, a prim, proper, and elegant unicorn would ever fall in love with a southern, tomponyish earth pony. Well, no offense to you or Applejack.
In fact, it was just recently I decided since, well, I'm leaving Equestria. I should tell you my true feelings. I remember about a week before Applejack proposed to you. She had asked me a question. "Do you still love Rarity?" Applejack said and I know it's terrible to lie, even more terrible to lie to the element of honesty. I had gotten that question so many times my body and mind was basically trained to look like I was telling the truth. I wasn't telling the truth. The truth is as I got older my puppy love turned into real love. I just need to say this, I love you.
Now, I'm not saying this so you'll leave Applejack for me. No, that would selfish of me. My younger self might have done it, but I want you to be happy with Applejack. No matter what, you'll always be beautiful in my eyes. As you grow older I think you get more gorgeous. You don't have a single gray hair in you perfect wavy indigo mane and tail. Your cream colored white coat is still flawless. Your body is as toned as a young filly. You have perfect curves all around your body which would make any mare jealous. Your eyes could make anypony fall in love with you if staring into them long enough. Your singing voice sounds like an angel and your dressmaking skills are the best in Equestria. Everything about you is perfect. Applejack is one lucky mare to have a smart, generous, and loving mare.
No, I don't hate Applejack. I know you and I would would never work as a couple. Anyways Applejack saved my life from Timberwolves about ten years ago. I always felt a bit of sadness for her since her parents, well, you know. November fourth is always a sad day and not a day goes by I don't hear sobbing on that day.
Now have I ever thought of kissing you? Holding your hoof? Proposing to you? Marrying you? Having dreams even erotic about you? Sleeping or even making love to you? Well yes, yes I have. But you can do all of those things with Applejack, your true love. As I grew older I knew we could never happen. You only love me like a little brother. When I first met you I was a child and you were a full grown mare. A blind pony can see I have no chance with you. I know you know how it feels to love somepony who doesn't love you back. Let's just forget that Trenderhoof fiasco.
When Princess Celestia gave me this mission, I jumped at it immediately. Ponies around were a little sad, but when you love something, you let it go. I know I won't see you or any of my close friends any time soon. Even though Twilight knows the spell Celestia uses to send lettes via my fire breath. But I won't see any of my friends in person. Who knows, maybe I find a way to find my family and origin. Every time I look into the mirror it just looks like I’m looking at a completely different dragon. This is a family reunion long overdue. I have a feeling I'll never see you again. This mission of scouting the world will take a long time. You're not getting any younger as you are in your forties.
I leave for my mission in thirteen hours and it is here where I decide to end my letter. You and Applejack will have a long happy relationship until the day one of you dies.
I love you.
I always will love you no matter what happens. Do you remember when I gave you that fire ruby? Man, the look on your face. And you kissed my cheek...Gosh, when you kissed me I was the most happy dragon ever. That fire ruby which I gave you, which you still have it. The day when you leave this world, or want to pass it–Whatever you like, just make sure that it is just cherished with somepony you love. I hope I was a good friend to you and I still am your favorite dragon. I hope you live a long and happy life with your soon-to-be child.
Goodbye, Rarity. See you....never.
Sincerely, Spike
Rarity let out a sniffle and got out a tissue from a tissue box to wipe away tears forming. She didn't expect a letter she received from Derpy three hours after Spike had left. "Oh Spike, you were a great friend and are truly my favorite dragon."
Applejack then entered the kitchen of the Carousel Boutique. "Rarity? What's wrong?" Applejack then walked over to the table Rarity was sitting at. She comforted her crying pregnant fiancé.
Rarity had a small faint smile "Oh darling, I'm fine I'm just...well I have gotten a new way of thinking about a certain somepony."
I wrote this because I don't really like Sparity. This is not a Sparity fic in my eyes and in this story I'm basically saying what I think is wrong with Sparity. Sorry If you like Sparity, I respect your decision. This is kinda a bittersweet ending and I hope you like this. Please tell if there is any errors in this story my editor and I are not perfect.
