Applejack, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom are out in the fields bucking apples. Pinkie Pie is over at Sugar Cube corner baking up sweets like crazy. Fluttershy, and Rarity are spending a relaxing day at the spa. Twilight Sparkle, and Spike are in their crystal palace reading. While Rainbow is taking a nap on a cloud. The serene little town goes about it's business like usually. That is until a mail pony flies up to Rainbow Dash.
" Excuse me are you Rainbow Dash?"
"Yeah. Who wants to know?" asks Rainbow as she waves a hoof dismissively at the mail pony.
"Letter from the captain of the Wonderbolts Spitfire," answers the mail pony.
"What!? Give me that," Rainbow snatches the letter.
Rainbow Dash tears open the letter. Inside were several tickets and a letter.
Recruit Rainbow Dash,
You have been selected to take part of our up coming show at Rainbow Falls. For the annual Festival of Flight. Inside this letter are tickets for the event for your friends, and family. I expect you to be here early.
Captain of the Wonderbolts,
Spitfire.
Rainbow Dash squeaks with joy as she has been called up to perform in another show. She looks at the tickets there were a lot of them. She could invite all of her friends. Wasting no time Rainbow Dash rushes through the town giving each of her friends a ticket. She eventually finds herself at Sweet Apple Acres. Zipping through the orchard Rainbow Dash finds Applejack. She is just finishing up the last tree of the day.
"What's up sugar cube?" asks Applejack as she wipes her brow.
"You're never going to believe it AJ! I am in the Festival of Flight air show!" Rainbow Dash proclaims with a proud expression on her face.
"That's great Rainbow! Just one question what is the Festival of Flight?"
"It is a festival where pegasi celebrate their heritage. There are games, rides, awesome food, and best of all an amazing air show. Spitfire gave me enough tickets that all of my friends, and family can come," answers Rainbow Dash.
"Sounds like fun Dash. I know Big Mac will like it he's been working his tail off harder than usual lately. It will be good for him to relax,"
"Really? I didn't know that he likes watching air shows?"
"Don't cha remember the tantabus incident? Where he became an alicorn he was happier then a filly on Heart's Warming,"
"Oh, yeah. Well this will be right up his alley then,"
The following day Rainbow Dash, and company take the train to Rainbow Falls. Three excited little fillies bounce around the cart. Scootaloo buzzes around flapping her wings like a busy little bee. Big Mac with his signature piece of straw in his mouth looks out the window watching the landscape pass by. A small smile crosses his lips as he stares out the window.
After about an hour or so they arrive at Rainbow Falls. They all gasp as they see all of the attractions. From Ferris wheels to roller coasters to bumper cars it was like an entire amusement park. Ponies from all over Equestria swarm around the park. The group walks through the park looking at all the attractions.
They head over to an open field where several pegasi practice all kinds of tricks. Most of them were just your average weather pony. However some of them were Wonderbolts one of them was in fact the captain herself Spitfire. Those that stayed on the ground watched in amazement as Spitfire, and the rest of the Wonderbolts fly through the air with pin point precision. With one last spectacular burst of Pegasus magic they finish their maneuvers. The crowds applauded the performance. Spitfire, Soarin, and Fleet Foot land in front of Rainbow Dash, and friends. Sweat dripping from their faces.
" Nice to see that you could join us Dash," says Soarin as he breathes slightly hard.
" Yeah for a moment there I thought we were going to have to perform without you," replies Fleet Foot.
"Wouldn't dream off it," proclaims Dash as she pounds her chest.
"Glad to hear it. You will be performing with Soarin, and I in a three pony tear formation. Soarin will put you through your rounds before the show. Go suit up," Spitfire says as she sprays water over her face.
"Right come Dash there are some important sequences that we need to go over," Soarin says as he walks past the group towards a large tent filled with Wonderbolts.
With Rainbow going off with the Wonderbolts the group soon scatters going to whatever looks interesting to them. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo head off toward the rides. While Applejack, Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity go to grab a bite to eat. Leaving Big Mac all by himself with Spitfire who was drying herself off.
Big Mac couldn't help but look at Spitfire as she uses the towel to accentuate her feminine curves. Big Mac blushes as he glances at her butt. Spitfire raises an eyebrow as she glances out of the corner of her eye the big red stallion checking her out. She throws the monogrammed towel over her shoulder and walks over to him.
"Oh, horse apples! She's coming over here! Did she catch me staring at her butt? Big Mac you oaf! Why were you staring at her butt? Stop looking at her butt!" Big Mac screamed inside his head.
Spitfire stops in front of Big Mac who flattens his ears, and blushes as he looks down, and away. She smiles at him.
"You must be Big Mac? Rainbow Dash told me a lot about you," Spitfire raises her hoof up to Big Mac.
Big Mac's blush grows brighter at this. "Yeup," Big Mac takes her hoof into his shaking it like how his father had taught him to shake a ladies hoof when he was young. Her hoof was so soft like it was made out of pure cotton. Big Mac lets go of her hoof sheepishly.
Spitfire looks up at him with a curious grin. Her sunglasses falling slightly down her nose. " Hey listen why don't we hang out after the show? I would love to get to know you better," Big Mac nods vigorously his approval. "Great! See you later," Spitfire sways her hips as she walks towards the Wonderbolts tent.
"Yeup!" Big Mac says as his body finally calms down.
Big Mac takes a seat next to his sisters in the front row. A big bucket of popped corn, and a large drink in his hooves. The electrified crowd explodes into voracious applause as an announcer flies to center stage. With megaphone in hoof they announce the start of the show
"Ladies, and Gentle colts! Fillies, and foals of all ages! Are you ready to be wowed beyond your wildest imaginations?" Primes the announcer.
The crowd starts to chant" Wonder-bolts! Wonder-bolts! Wonder-bolts!"
"I will take that as a yes! It is with great exuberance that I present you the WONDERBOLTS!" with that three massive cannons explode with a Wonderbolt in each.
On the left, and right were two thunderous black cloud streams. While the middle was the color of a rainbow. The crowd cheers as the three Wonderbolts soar over head. Rainbow Dash waves on to the crowd as she flies over them. They each fly over to a different side of the arena. Were they then flew towards each other in the center. Just as they were about to collide Rainbow Dash changes trajectory flying straight up. Soarin, and Spitfire spiral up after her creating a black helix around a rainbow center. As the they break past the cloud line Rainbow Dash does a sonic rain boom.
The crowd erupts into applause as they witness the spectacle. Once the other two reach the ceiling of the rain boom they grab onto each other's fore legs, and start to spin in a counterclockwise motion. They spin so fast that they become a blur. Soon enough they create a tornado. The tornado sucks in the light of the sonic rain boom making it change colors. Beams of multicolored light shine all around the arena. Rainbow Dash using her burst of speed flies in between the various beams of light. She reaches the bottom of the tornado where she shoots up the center.
The tornado begins to swell as Rainbow Dash joins in the tornado. Soon enough it explodes, and the three Wonderbolts are glistening with rainbows surrounding them. They do a simultaneous backflip, and start to fly again. This time when they flew towards each other they didn't break speed. Instead they each presented their hooves, and the instant when they all made contact with each other they pushed off. With a magical spark they create a multicolored flower firework. As they land on the ground the crowd cheers louder then what should have been possible. The three Wonderbolts take a bow and walk off stage.
As the air show comes to a close droves of fans surround the Wonderbolts. Big Mac stands away from the crowd as he watches all of the fans beg for autographs, and pictures. Looking over the crowd Big Mac looks for Spitfire. Not seeing her he lets out a long drawn out sigh as he hangs his head, and turns around.
"Of course she's not here. Why would she want to actually hang out with me? I should just go, and wait for every pony else to be done so we can go home,"
"Where you going?" Big Mac turns around there trotting up to him was Spitfire with a smile on her face. "I thought we had a date?"
" I ah just thought what with your fans, and all that. Well you know," Big Mac admits.
"What that I wouldn't show up?" asks Spitfire
Big Mac bites his lower lip as he slowly nods.
"Well I'm here aren't I? Come on lets go have some fun! Have you ever been to one of these before?" Spitfire asks as she grabs Big Mac by the hoof pulling him toward the rides.
"Nope!"
"Well then you are going to like this!"
Rainbow Dash, and Applejack look over to see Spitfire, and Big Mac going off to the rides. Both of them raising an eyebrow follow in pursuit. Big Mac gulps as he looks up at the tall ride. He had never seen such a contraption in his life. Ponies were strapped to harnesses, and raised several feet above the air. Where they would then begin to spin.
"This ride is very popular with earth ponies, and unicorns. Probably because it is the closest they will ever get to flying like a Pegasus. Wanna try?" Spitfire says as she looks over to Big Mac who rushes over to the line eliciting a chuckle from Spitfire.
When they get to the front of the line Big Mac steps into a harness. Spitfire takes the one next to him, and smiles at him. With a whirring sound the ride lifts the ponies up into the air. At first it spins the ponies very slowly, but quickly the speed increases. Several little fillies along with Big Mac let out a loud joyful.
"Woooooooo!"
The pegasi who were riding amused by their friends enjoyment of flying join in the woo. Soon enough though the ride ends, and the ponies get out so other ponies could give it a try. Big Mac laughs as he gets out of the harness. Now it was his turn to take Spitfire by the hoof.
"Now it is my turn to pick a ride," Big Mac leads Spitfire away from the ride, and over to another one. Spitfire laughs as she sees Big Mac act like a filly on Hearth Warming.
Spitfire mouth drops as she looks over to the ride that Big Mac had chose. There standing before them was a wave generator. Ponies of all kinds were riding surf boards. Most of them lasting only a few seconds. Of all the rides there he chose the last one that she had thought he would have chosen. Big Mac looks over his shoulder at Spitfire a fiery gleam in his eye.
"Now I might not be the most graceful pony in Equestria, but if this date is about us trying new things why not this," says Big Mac as he gets in line. Spitfire gives him a cheeky grin as she gets in line with him.
They both grab a board as they get to the front of the line. Looking over the edge they both jump placing the boards under them. Big Mac stumbles as he tries to balance on the board. He was now having doubts as to why he ever thought of doing this. He looks over to see Spitfire gracefully slice through the water like it was nothing. With Fire returning in his eyes Big Mac adjusts his weight, and steadies his board. He smiles as his board finally stabilizes.
Looking out at the crowd Big Mac sees all kinds of ponies looking straight at him. They cheer him on as he tames the waves, but soon enough he loses his balance falling into the water. As he surfaces Spitfire cuts through the water over to him. Once she stops next to him he thought she was going to try to pull him up. What he got was something different.
Spitfire jumped into the water next to him causing a big splash. As she breaches the water she stares at Big Mac. With a smile Big Mac splashes her to which she laughs, and splashes back. The crowd overwhelmed by the merriment jump into the water to join in the splash fight. Once they had their fill of the water Big Mac, and Spitfire go to the food stands. From hay burgers to cotton candy to caramel apples. They try all kinds of carny food.
After they had their fill they headed off to the games. Having a blast as they won prize after prize. From popping balloons with darts. To the ring toss. Even to getting their faces painted Big Mac, and Spitfire have fun with each other. With the sun starting to set Spitfire points to one last ride. The only one that they haven't gone on. The Ferris wheel. They get into the cart just big enough for two ponies, and their many prizes.
Once they are settled the ride starts. Sitting right next to Spitfire Big Mac can feel the soft warmth coming from her skin. He is unsuspectingly calm as he sits next to her. The ride stops as their cart reaches the top. Once the cart stops swaying Spitfire speaks up as she looks over the glowing horizon.
"Listen I wanna say thanks for spending the evening with me Big Mac. It is nice to be treated as a mare, and not an idol for once," A warm breeze blows from behind them as Big Mac looks over to Spitfire.
"I should be thanking you. This evening has been the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. I don't know if you can tell, but I am not exactly the most confident stallion. When you asked me to spend the day with you I was terrified. At the same time though I was also relieved. That a mare of your beauty, and confidence would want to spend time with me. It really means a lot to me," Big Mac scoots even closer to Spitfire. All the while continues to look at the setting sun.
As Big Mac scoots closer to her. Spitfire smiles spreading her wings laying one of them across Big Mac's strong muscular back. They sit there staring at the sunset as they wait for the ride to continue. All the while Applejack, and Rainbow Dash look at them from a distance.
"What cha think they're saying?" asks Applejack as she looks at them through a pair of binoculars.
"You're asking me?" replies Dash as she doesn't need the binoculars to spy on them.
"You told Twi that pegasi have good hearing, and sight. Didn't you?"
"Yeah but we are too far away to hear what they are saying," answers Dash as she squints her eyes in their direction.
The ride starts back up. Big Mac, and Spitfire stay close together as they descend to the ground. Once their cart gets to the ground Big Mac gets out first. With a hoof extended he smiles at Spitfire. She smiles at him as she takes the hoof, and exits the cart. Walking side by side the two make their way over to the Wonderbolt tent. Several Wonderbolts were taking down the tent. They look into each other's glistening eyes.
"Well Big guy this is where we part ways,"
" We should do this again some time. That is if it is ok with you," Big Mac hands over the prizes that he had one for her.
"I'd like that!" Spitfire plants a kiss on his cheek. Big Mac blushes as he puts a hoof up to where Spitfire kissed him. "Until next time Big guy," Spitfire walks off to the tent swaying her hips as she does. She looks over her shoulder, and looking at Big Mac who was staring at her butt winks at him. Then continues her walk. Big Mac stands there holding his cheek still able to feel her soft lips on his cheek. He chuckles.
"YEUP!"
