The Valhalla Gem
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterTwilight opened her eyes as the birds sang merrily outside the window ledge, perched on a nearby tree.
Twilight dazedly picked herself up from her bed and straightened out the sheet before trotting to the mirror to brush her hair. She passed by Spike, who was still fast asleep and snoring louder than normal. It was in combat with the birds singing outside.
Twilight was peacefully humming to herself, her brush was flowing smoothly through her hair. She watched her lip, the blood had died and turned darker. The weaker parts can flaked off as it congealed.
She licked her hoof and rubbed the rest of it off.
“That was a weird night”.
She looked outside the window at the birds singing.
“At least everything’s okay now”.
She prepped herself up and slumped her saddlebag over her back, she took her list of groceries and other essentials and placed them in her bag and walking out the door, shutting it quietly as not to disturb Spike.
Her path to the marketplace was peaceful, no pony bothered her besides a simple hello of a few minutes to catch up. She was looking through the wide and vivid chooses of apples, green and red, ripe with healthy skin.
“Hi Twilight!”
Twilight’s head turned and pinkie had burst into view, and then hopped around the place too, before setting in one spot. Still hopping with gleeful excitement.
“Guess who gets to buy the groceries todayyyyyy!”.
“Urm . . . You?”.
“Yessss”.
Her saddlebags were full to bursting their buttons with ingredients, the bags of sugar seemed to have a rip, as he jumped about it was spreading thinly on the ground.
“You got a lot there already? Are you heading back already?”.
Still takes some apples and tosses them in the air, she tosses some bits to the stall owner and catches the apples on her nose, spinning them in a stack.
“Nope. I haven’t got anything on the list yet”.
“But?”
Twilight points to Pinkie’s full saddlebags, she turns her head and looks at them, the apples she was spinning fall and disappear in her cotton candy hair.
“Oh. Oppsie! I bought a lot of stuff I wanted! None of this is on the list”.
Pinkie Pie still had a tone of cheerfulness as she continued to add more stuff to her hair until it was starting to look like a Christmas tree of candy, lollipops and Celestia’s knows what else.
“How can your hair withstand all that?”.
“I don’t know, how can your hair withstand gravity, it’s not falling to the ground silly, it’s perfectly tied on. Like a really tough knot, a REALLY REALLY tough knot! Like a really tough butterfly knot, or a really tough double loop knot or a “
“PINKIE!!”
Pinkie’s mouth sewn shut as she looked at her friend. Twilight was fuming, her face red like a ripe tomato.
“Sorry Twilight. Guess I was talking to much. I’ll head home now”.
She slowly walked home, kicking the ground and stones on the floor. The racket had attracted a few of the residents. Twilight calmly ignored them and contained her daily tasks in the market.
Throughout the market, it seemed more disputes were arising. Friends were falling out and couples were breaking up. Brothers and sister were arguing more and more. Then it started to get worse.
Twilight was standing at the café with something to eat after completing her shopping list. She was tucking into a daisy sandwich. It was quiet, until she could hear shouting from nearby. The shouting was easily to tell, was thick with rage.
Twilight turned around, two stallions were arguing again, a red furred and blue furred duo. It was not anything out of the ordinary today. She continued to eat her sandwich, pondering why was everyone so violent all of a sudden. Even she herself had started to feel more irritated.
Suddenly gasps were heard, followed by a massive sound of wood snapping and splitting. She turned around. One of the stallions had smashed into a stall, the red one, everyone was looking at the other, as if he was the one that caused it. Besides the massive amount of damage, the red stallion brought himself back up. The impact had cut through him and he was covered in wounds.
“What!? How is that possible!?”.
They started scratching at the ground like bulls and charged at each other at a head on collision, the ground crushed under impact and both their heads were heavily gushing with blood, they were grinding their skulls together trying to overpower the other. Suddenly the red one worked his neck under the other and flung him into the nearby building that came crashing down on top of him. The rubble shuddered as the blue stallion recovered, he picked up a huge, wooden support column in his mouth and swung it down into the red stallion, crushing him into the ground with the impact destroying the ground. After a few seconds the column was brought back up, to be crushed down on the stallion more and more, beating the blood out of his mouth until a pool had congregated. The blue stallion tossed the column away to the side, nearly crushing the over lookers as it skid to a halt in a flurry of dust.
The crowd and the stallion go to the crater and peer into it, Twilight gets up and moves further towards the crowd. She stops when a huge gust of dust bursts out from the scene, the stallion crushed under the column had survived the assault and had slammed forward from the dirt to charge the blue stallion back into the rubble of the collapsed house. They each started to pick up debris and throw it at each other, the debris were colliding and smashing into pieces, the pieces that hit drew the stallions through the ground, badly bruised and bleeding but still fighting.
“Why is no one stopping this!?”.
Twilight jumps in between them and the flying rubble and shields herself and each other with her magic. The sudden interruption had snapped them out of their murderous trance. They both looked around dazed at the rubble and themselves. Bleeding and bruised but it didn’t hurt.
“Wha? . . . Just happened?”
The red stallion didn’t respond, but everything was too frightening to him, the rubble and carnage. The shock got to him, and he ran off in a panic. The other soon did the same.
“Phew”
Twilight broke her magic shield and she heard the ceiling shudder. She realised the house was staying up on her shield, and now it had gone. It was crashing on top of her. The house collapsed. Dust flew everywhere and covered everything and everyone. The crowd was coughing before looking at the collapsed site.
“Ughhh. What?”
Twilight was laying on the floor, looking at herself, safe and sound as the house laid in front of her. Pinkie was hopping around her.
“I saved you! I saved you! I saved you!”.
“Pinkie?”.
“Mhmm”.
“H-how did you?”
“Pinkie sense”.
Her tail shuddered and she pulled on Twilight’s tail as a roof tile fell In front of them. Twilight then get up and shook the dust and soot off.
“Thank you Pinkie”.
“Your welcome”.
“And I’m sorry about earlier”.
“No problem”.
She started to bounce back home down the road.
“Just don’t have any more housies fall on you okaaaaaaay?”.
“Okay Pinkie!”
Twilight looked at the house, and thought how lucky she was to have a friend like Pinkie. And headed home. All this was a little much to bare. Walking in she was greeted by a familiar little dragon.
“Twilight! I heard what happened when Pinkie bounced past, are you okay?”
“I’m fine Spike, Pinkie saved me”.
“I know! Wow how close was that? Need anything?”.
“No no Spike, I’m fine, but I’d like to relax now”.
“I would too if a house was falling on me”
She gets out a few books to read. And starts writing out notes.
“Urm, your going to study to relax?”.
“Yes, that’s what I like to do”.
“Okaayyy”.
And as Spike left. She continued to study. The days were getting weirder and weirder. So she just forgot about them, falling asleep as she studied. She hoped things would be normal soon.
