From Canterlot High to Ponyville?
(Canterlot High, After school)
“Oh come on, Rarity. There is nothing wrong with my choice of clothes!” The young teenaged girl named Rainbow Dash grumbled, walking with her friends Rarity and Sunset Shimmer as they left the grounds of Canterlot High to go meet their friends at Sugarcube Corner.
“Darling you look like a wannabe street thug from off TV. I mean really, don’t you have anything better to wear then… this?”
“Look, most of the clothes I use to have shrunk on me when I had to take them to the laundromat. This was the only thing I had that didn’t turn two sizes too small.” She groaned again. “Good grief, you are seriously starting to bug me with trying to critique how I look.”
“You know how I am when it comes to something like this. I can handle your old clothing, but this… this is just a fashion disaster!”
“Well, you might be expecting for a little while because after I brought them home, Tank decided to poke his head in there and munch on them.” She sighed. “Anyways, can someone please remind me again on why we’re meeting Pinkie and the girls now? We normally meet on fridays and today’s monday.”
“Heck if I know, I’m pretty much busy throughout the week to know what’s going on with here. I figure you guys would know.”
“Well…” Sunset soon interjected. “We’re meeting with them because in the next half an hour, we’ll be expecting to see a solar eclipse. Those are completely rare and it’s said that one is seen almost every 30 years or so. Not to mention that it’s happening over our town.” Looking back at Rainbow, she smiled a little. “As for your outfit… I actually kind of like it. It’s quite unique. Especially the chain on the side of the jacket.”
“Thank you! Finally, somebody that has good taste in what I wear.”
“Heh. Wait til Applejack and the other see you.” Sunset grinned, “Speak of the devil, there they are.” Soon, she pointed in the direction where their friends were sitting. Pinkie, Applejack, and Fluttershy were there at a table outside the cafe, waiting patiently for Rainbow and the others to arrive.
“Okay, we’re here. So what’s up?”
“Hey girls, glad all of ya can make it.” Applejack complimented. “Barely recognized ya there, Dashie.”
“Seriously? How can you not recognize me?”
“Your cap was over ya face. When you looked at me, I was able to see ya clearly.” Her friend replied. “Pinkie’s bringing out some cupcakes and that Eclipse is suppose to be happening soon.”
“I still don’t see what the big deal with this Eclipse thing, it’s not like we won’t see it again about another 30 years or so.”
“Thirty years is the minimum.” Sunset deadpanned. “Plus, wouldn’t you want to see the moon block out the sun in the middle of the day?”
“Big whoop, if I wanted to block out the sun I could just use my cap to do so. Or close a blind to do that.”\
“Come on, Dashie.” Pinkie Pie spoke up once she came out with the cupcakes. “Don’t be such a party pooper. We might be old and in wheelchairs when this happens again! Live for the moment.”
“We’re sixteen Pinkie Pie, we’ll be adult by the time this happens again.” Before anyone else can say anything, the sunlight around them began to dim as the streets began to darken. Looking behind her to the sky, Rainbow could see the moon beginning to cover the sun as she just watched the event unfold. However, as the Eclipse was to reach it’s climax, a bright flash of light went off, blinding her and putting her in a daze. However, she felt herself being… energized. Like how she felt during the Friendship Games. Just… different. “What is going on?” she wondered. It didn’t look like any of her friends were seeing anything out of the ordinary. And normally, they were out of the ordinary!
“Um, girls. I feel funny.”
“Funny? Like in HAHA! funny or kinda not feeling good funny?” Pinkie Pie asked her
“Funny as in I feel like I’m going to be sick kind of funny.”
Sunset heard that and soon walked over. “I can take you home if you’re okay with that?” She offered, feeling a little bit concerned for her friend.
“N-No, I’m fine. I can walk myself h…..oh crap.”
“Rainb-?” Her friends were heard on deaf ears as the young teen soon collapsed on the ground and her face met the pavement beneath her. (Song End)
(Next morning...)
“Ugh……” The groan from Rainbow Dash could be heard from all around the room as she slowly opened her eyes. Her alarm clock was going off, the loud ringing sounding like a buzzing bee nearby her ears. A bee that just kept ringing… and it was really annoying her.
“No… five more minutes…” She groaned, trying to cover her ears, only to realize that she was back at her house. “What the-? How am I back at my house?” With the ringing going on in the background, the young teen saw a note by her pillow and slowly tried to read it while her eyes were adjusting to waking up.
“Hey Rainbow. You collapsed yesterday after telling us you didn’t feel so well, so Applejack and I took you home and made sure you didn’t have a fever or anything. If anything weird happens, give me a call.”
-Sunset Shimmer
“Well at least that answers that-.” Rainbow sighed, before having her train of thought being interrupted by her alarm clock. “OH FOR PETE’S SAKE, SHUT UP ALREADY-!!” Unknowingly though, her outburst cause a spectral Cyan hand to come forth and form into a fist as it struck the alarm clock, destroying it to pieces as they were littered across the floor.
Now, Rainbow was alarmed. For a different reason. “W-what was that!?”
“Is everything okay up there sis?!”
“Uh… y-yeah, I’m fine Scoots. Just… processing.” She said. Dang it, now she thought that she was starting to sound like Twilight or Sunset. Just… what the hell happened to her? And why was this happening?
“Processing what?! Unless you’re doing math which you suck at, then what are you doing up there?!”
“I’m just a bit tired. I’m still waking up. How long have I been asleep for?” She asked. Hopefully, that would help her with something.
“Five days!”
Wait, what? “You’re joking right? I thought you just said five days.”
“I did, you been asleep for five days straight! I pretty much had to do some of your homework so the teachers wouldn’t think you’re skipping class again!”
Now that was an eye opener. First, there was this… spirit thingy that destroyed her alarm clock. Second, she had been asleep for five days. Five whole days!! Both of those made her even more confused on what was happening. “Good grief… I must be losing my mind.” She told herself before getting up off of the bed. It was now that she noticed that she had fallen asleep in the clothes that she wore on monday… which meant that today was saturday. “Hey Scootaloo. You can go see your friends. I need to call Sunset real quick. She told me to call her when I woke up.”
“Need me to get you something?!”
“Nah I’m fine.” Rainbow Dash lied. She thought that she was personally going insane, but she did not want to show it in front of her sister. “Have fun.”
“Okay! Well I’m gonna head out! Applebloom and Sweetie Belle are waiting for me at the arcade, seeya!” With Scootaloo gone, Rainbow had some breathing room. However, she still needed to call Sunset. Now, if she only knew where she placed her phone-.
It was only upon turning around that she saw the same hand that demolished her alarm clock. Now it was holding her cell phone within a pinch like grip, using the thumb and index fingers to hold the device.
“Okay this is getting really weird, even by my standard of weirdness.” She sighed, soon dialing Sunset’s number and after a short while, her friend picked up.
“Hello?”
“Sunset, I need your help! I’m being possessed by some kind of spirit and need your help getting it out of me-!”
“Whoa whoa whoa… Rainbow, calm down… You’re yelling in my ear and I haven’t heard from you in five days. Now, what exactly is going on?”
“I been asleep for five days, look just come over here and I’ll explain what’s going okay?”
“That’s what I’m asking you… Okay, just hang on, I’ll be there in five minutes. Just given me a minute.” Sunset said before hanging up the conversation. Five minutes later, the door to Rainbow’s house had a couple of knocks occur on the front as Rainbow walked over and opened it. Sunset, like she promise, was outside.
“Alright, I’m here. Now, what is going on-?”
“It’s about time you got here. What took you so long?”
“Uh, Rainbow. I’m a few blocks away from you. It’s always been a five minute walk to your place.”
“Whatever, just get in here and help me. You an expert at this weirdness stuff aren’t you?”
“Define weird, Rainbow.”
“This kind of weird.” She said pointing to her hand.
“Um… I’m not seeing anything.”
“What the hell do you mean you can’t see it? It’s right in front of my hand.”
“All I’m seeing is your hand.” Sunset said.
“Ugh...wait, watch this.” Rainbow turned her attention at the pizza on the table as she ordered her spirit to grab it. It did so, lifting it over to her.
“So… you somehow have psychic abilities?”
“Do I look like have the brainpower to do that….don’t answer that, but you get what I mean right?”
“Yes, it is weird… Hang on, maybe Twilight know something about it back in Equestria. Give me a second to write to her.” She told her friend as she opened the enchanted book her friend gave her. “You said this is a spirit right?”
“Yes, why?”
“Just wanted to make sure I told her correctly,” Sunset replied, finished her letter. She got a reply back, but what Sunset saw made her eyes widen a little. “Oh boy… This isn’t going to end well…” She sighed.
“Well what?”
“Remember the Mirror? The one where I came through and Twilight… Well… Let’s just say we're going for a trip.”
“I thought we couldn’t go through it what with the multiversal mumbo jumbo crap that your Twilight said?”
“Well, we need to go through it. She want’s to see if your spirit is anyhow related to one of the locals in Ponyville.”
“Wait what now?”
“Basically, we need to meet Discord. Spirit of Chaos. If you say this is a spirit, then maybe another spirit could tell what is going on with you.” Sunset replied. “Trust me though… He’s not called the Spirit of Chaos for nothing. Think Pinkie, but a whole another degree.”
“Wait, won’t anybody notice that we’re gone? This is a weekday right?”
“Rainbow, it’s Saturday.” Sunset deadpanned.
“I’ve been asleep for the past five days, what do you expect?”
“Didn’t you see the day of the week on the Alarm clock I got for you last christmas?” Sunset asked.
“It kinda got destroyed.”
“Wait… What?” Sunset replied shortly before walking into her room and seeing the wreckage. “HOLY-!! It looked like something exploded in here!!”
“Yeah that’s when the spirit came out of me and wrecked it.”
“... Let’s get to the mirror. We need to get to the bottom of this.”
(Twilight’s Castle, Ponyville)
“So…Mind telling me why you’re acting so nervous Twi? You’ve haven’t acted this way since the Yakghanistan ambassador visited town.” Right now, Rainbow Dash was visiting her friend, Twilight Sparkle. Who was inside her castle at the time that she received a message from her friend on the other side of the mirror.
“It’s Sunset Shimmer. She’s coming to visit.”
“Isn’t she that pony that stole your crown and tried to take over her own world with it?”
“Yes, but she’s learned the error of her ways like Starlight a few weeks ago. Now though, she needs help with trying to figure out something.”
“Figure what out?”
“Well… that’s the strange part. Turns out, yourself in the Mirror world thinks she’s possessed by some sort of spirit. Given the circumstances, I thought that Discord could help. He’s a spirit so he might know a thing or two about what’s going on.”
“You sure he isn’t behind what’s going on?”
“No because Sunset told me that her Rainbow passed out shortly after witnessing a Solar Eclipse. Those in itself have been known to cause strange phenomenons in Equestria with Magic. But I don’t exactly know what could be going on with her. So… I asked them both to come here.” With that said, the Mirror portal whirred to life as the two of them watched Sunset step out of the portal. Followed by her Rainbow Dash. Which was wearing a Black jacket and hat with a small gold chain on the side of it. she had a light grey undershirt underneath it and when she lifted her head, the first thing this Dash saw… was herself.
“... Well… this is new.”
“Oh dear Celestia, she’s just as awesome as me!”
“Rainbow, calm down.” Twilight told the pegasus that she was familiar with before looking at the other one. “Not you, you’re fine.”
“Wait there’s a pony version of me? Holy crap! I can’t wait to tell the girls back home about this.”
“It’s to be expected.” Sunset turned to the Rainbow she knew and told her. “The Mirror portal is an artifact that leads to a mirror world. Or what you and I know as home. Everypony you meet here has a reflection of themselves back home. Remember when we had two Twilights?”
“Oh yeah.”
“It’s the same thing. I’m just surprised that Pinkie Pie hasn’t gone through the Mirror. Celestia help us all when that happens.” Twilight sighed a bit. “Anyways, it’s good to see you again Rainbow.”
“Hey Twilight, where did you place those Recipe books, Pinkie-.” The voice that belonged to Twilight’s assistant, Spike, stopped for a moment when she saw two Rainbows. “Twilight… What did you do this time?”
“Hey Spike.” said both Rainbow Dashes as they waved to the dragon.
“... Twilight, why are there two Rainbows?” Spike asked. “Please don’t tell me that this is one of Discord’s pranks.”
“You called?” The voice echoed as a pink cloud could be seen overhead and Discord was peaking at the five of them from above. “What do we have here? Double the Dash, double the trouble…”
“Hey we don’t cause trouble… unless someone starts it.”
“I’m liking you already.” Rainbow Dash grinned a little at her clothed doppelganger as she looked at the Draconequus. “Discord, please warn us next time before you try popping in randomly like that. You’re just as bad as Pinkie Pie.”
“That’s Discord? Geez he look like something you would see in one of those jigsaw puzzle things.” Shortly after saying that though was when her hat started to float off of her head, showing her long rainbow mane.
“That’s Draconequus to you, Skittles.” He smirked.
“Hey! Give me back my hat jerk!”
“If you insist.” With another snap of his lion paw, the hat soon began to fall. However, it was falling at the force of an anvil being dropped on somepony’s head. It was only then that Rainbow tried to stand her ground. Ordering her… spirit… to withstand the weight of the falling object before it was turned back to normal.
“Well… this is indeed interesting… This one has quite an interesting ability.”
“Discord, what was that?”
“It appears that this Rainbow has gotten herself a Guardian. One that would be called… a Stand.” The Draconequus replied.
“What’s a Stand?”
“Think of it as an Avatar that represents yourself. Only Stand users can see other pony’s stands and different Stands have different powers. However, it doesn’t seem like this one wants to fully come out of it’s shell yet.” Discord smiled a little. “Perhaps we should take this outside. possibly somewhere where we might not… hurt anypony so to speak.”
“Yeah…” Unexpectedly though, with another snap of the Draconequus’ paw, both Rainbows, Twilight and Sunset were in the field outside of town.
“Alright, there’s only one way for a stand to reveal itself and that is by fighting another stand. Fortunately, I know a friend that can help.”
“Wait a second, you have friends?” Twilight asked, a little surprised with that statement.
“How else do you think I spend my time when I’m bored?”
“And who is this other stand user?” Before long, another figure soon leaped out from the trees and landed by the group in a pink cannonball like blur. To most of the ponies surprise, it was somepony they knew.
“Hiya Dissy!!”
“P-pinkie!?” Twilight spoke. “H-how!?”
“Easy there, bookworm. I’ll tell you later.” Discord told the Alicorn. “Pinkie, You see that Rainbow over there in the jacket and hat? She has a stand that needs to come out of hiding. I’m sure you know what to do… right?”
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Soon, Rainbow could see a form of energy rising from Pinkie as she stared her down. “Yep, this won’t end well.”
“Spearmint… PARTY SPLASH!!” That was when Rainbow saw what looked like a green tinted water like monster release a blast of actual crystals shape candy that tried to harm her. Moving backwards, she tried the best to dodge since this Rainbow wasn’t accommodated to her new body. But when she looked again, she couldn’t see Pinkie’s stand.
“What the-? It was right there a minute ago!”
“Spearmint is a stand that, like me, loves to play hide and seek!” Pinkie cheerfully stated. “In a way, it’s almost like taffy. Chewy and Sweet, but can mold into any shape or stretch out as far as I need to.” She replied. “If you can’t bring your stand out, then you won’t be able to stop my PARTY SPLASH!!”
“Not again!!” The pegasus reacted, rolling out of the way again as the Rock Candy almost clipped her wings. As Sunset and the others watched, they tried to make sense of what was happening. They couldn’t see anything. That was, until Discord snapped his fingers and handed each of the spectators a pair of what looked like reading glasses.
“Uh… what are these for?” Twilight asked.
“These glasses allow the wearers to see Stands. I thought it might make a little more sense if you could see what was happening.” Around then though, Twilight and the others now watched as Rainbow stood her ground.
“Okay, that’s enough!!” She yelled, a form of energy flowing around her. “I’M DONE PLAYING GAMES!!!” Within that moment, the hands from before shot forth. But this time, the rest of the stand came out too as it threw a punch at a nearby bush and sent Pinkie’s stand fleeing for cover.
“ORA!!”
