Sombra sat upright, looking around at the chandelier of crystals pointing from the domed roof of the chamber he was sitting in. This definitely wasn't a prison, but it sure as hell wasn't a safe place. He heard creaking coming from the glass like natural décor. But his growing fear was painful. The beauty of the room did help a small bit, but he was still petrified to his spot in the room.
"Where am I? Is anypony in here?" He asked to the dark tunnel at the right end of the room. His heart jumped into his throat when not even a light dapple of communication came back.
He felt nervous, and immediately started to feel tears welling up. He was trapped and wanted to escape, his heart then shattered and crumbled like a toppling tower into his chest. He began to sob despite the fact that he could be in a underground storage area. He fell to the floor, and let out a pitiful cry. One that sank into a fit of wails and tears. One that he'd never had before.
It took a long while for Sombra to calm himself and make sense of the situation he had been tossed into with no forewarning. While this did unsettle him, he built up courage and made his way into the tunnel. He heard running water ahead, and a small glimmer of hope jolted his soul. He found the shower of water coming from above surprising. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a gutter. But it was cleaner than most he'd remembered from his life in Manehatten.
He stepped into the shower. Letting it pour over his coat and mane, it was cold as he had hoped it'd be. He had always loved cold showers, cold swims, and cold rainstorms. He had an idea hit him. Would it be possible to climb up using the little ledges inside the drain?
He started his ascent towards the gutter. He was having good luck, until a sharp crystal jabbed into his skin, he slipped and fell to the crystal ground below. He groaned and stood. Blood dribbled from the spot he'd been accidentally stabbed.
"Fuck...how the hell? Wait, maybe I can get some pony's attention?" He thought aloud as the downpour of water continued to spill on him.
He took in a deep breath, and yelled "Hello? Can some pony help me?" Up the drain. But nopony noticed, or even cared. He tried again.
"HELLO? Can any pony help?" Still he was left with the almost literal cold shoulder. He glanced around, hoping to see some path out of the tunnel. He saw a path that was slanting upwards, towards the surface. He ran up the slanted route. Panting as he overworked himself to try and make an escape. This path led to a solid wall. He tried his magic on the wall, but for some unknown reason it didn't work.
He sighed and began to punch at it, hoping it would open on a ledge next to a road. He continued to dig in this fashion until he felt too tired to lift his hooves. It was thin now, and the sounds of rain were clear as day. He willed himself to lift both his hooves and slam the wall one last time. It cracked violently before falling inwards, making loud crashes as each little blade struck more crystal.
As he felt the sounds of the room awaken, it was clear that the rain sounds were a looping sound in this area for some unknown reason. He was nervous, what if somepony were to see him? He'd be stopped from getting out of this whole predicament. Rather so, he'd be sent into a worse problem. So he prayed for the best and went into the room.
He stepped into the room, it appeared to be some kind of large basement. But he was not in the clear, yet. He had to find his way to somepony for help. It was dark in the room, but he had adjusted to being in the dark after those hours of digging. He stepped into a hallway, two guards stood at the far end. He needed to avoid them, or else he'll be arrested for breaking and entering.
He snuck into the next room over, it appeared to be a bed area. For the guards perhaps? He saw two sleeping ponies, and made efforts not to wake them. Finally he was in the room the guards were posted outside of. He wouldn't be able to handle them if they entered, so he continued to sneak.
Once out of there, he found a staircase. He smiled that it was the way out of the underground sector of the building. He climbed up to find a large open hall, with a crystal heart in the center. He took note of how dark it was, as he made a break for the door. He made one last look to see if anypony was chasing him. When he slammed into a pony without looking. The pony was white with a set of blue variants as mane colors. He squeaked, hoping this pony would let him pass. Or at least be a generous soul to help him. But this was not the case as the stallion stood and glared daggers at Sombra.
"Who are you?" The stallion probed.
"Uhm...why do you need to know?" Sombra asked nervously.
"I am Prince Shining Armor. Me and my wife rule this region. I demand to know your identity." This stallion was stern and rsther terrifying. Sombra prayed that this would end well as he went ahead and said his name.
"I'm Sombratos Aledias. And I want to be let g-" Sombra was knocked out by the stallion who'd recognized the full name of King Sombra. He tied him up and put him in a cell until morning. Sombra did wake up at the late hour of midnight. He looked around, then cried. He was in jail. He was doomed, doomed to be a dead pony for sure. They wouldn't let him go without an ass whopping or sometuing worse. What coukd they do to him? Rape? Murder? Execute? Sombra would not go back to sleep out of fear for the worst.
I woke from the sleep I didn't know I'd drifted into. The reality hit me once more. Looking around gave me no hope, the rooms were empty around me. I must've been the only prisoner, and my horrors began to play out as the stallion, Shining Armor, had returned, and untied me. Then ordered me to follow him, or else. I did as told, terrified by the kingdom I was now being held prisoner in.
He led me into a large room. There was a table, one chair on a side, while the oppositional side had three chairs. I gulped back my fear, and hoped this was just another little questioning. Hoped, for the complete best.
"You sit there, I need to gather my wife and fellow ruler." He pointed to the lone chair. I squeaked.
"What are you going to do? Please don't hurt me." I asked, then blurted. He narrowed his eyes, I shut up and went to the seat he ordered me to sit in. He left to gather the others.
I sat and gave the last of my hope to the idea that they'd let me go. Hoping and begging for my life to continue, and not end at the guillotine. Or gallows. Which ever execution methods they carried, I didn't want to suffer through.
He returned and he was joined by a pink mare with a crystal heart as a cutie mark. The other pony was all too familiar, it was Celestia. I felt my eyes widen in shock. My judgement day had really come now hadn't it? They all took seats. Celestia opened her mouth first.
"We must ask a few questions, depending on your answers you will be either imprisoned, executed, or emigrated to a different city. So that you may learn the values of life, and to make friends." She spoke as if it were barely a negative thing.
"Question one, what do you last remember doing?" The pink mare asked.
"Reading a book about magic, and unleashing the inner magic potential." I told them honestly.
"Question 2: have you ever wanted to enslave a pony? Or a population?" Shining asked with his deadly glare.
"No, why would anypony do that?" I once again gave them the truth.
This dragged on for almost and hour. Question after question. It was monotonous, but I kept it cool. Answered as honestly as possible. They left to make the verdict. I began to grow scared as they had yet to return and give the results. They came in, and told me one sentence.
"You will be emigrated to Ponyville, and we need to set up your traveler passport." They then motioned for me to follow them. And I did, they led me to a room with a camera, and a printer. They had me stand in front of the camera. Snapped a photo, filled out my info and produced a passport.
They also handed me a train ticket in half an hour. I was surprised as they'd let me go. But I wouldn't complain. It was a chance to be safe from death, and a chance to start anew in a town I didn't know. But deep inside a pain was growing back in. The feeling I'd been safe from for so long. Was back. And wouldn't stop it's painful buzz.
