Oh no, Starlight is a reptilian beast!
It had all happened so quickly. As Starlight recalled, Spike had delivered quite the message to her. Her training was complete, it had revealed. In addition, Twilight Sparkle wanted her to come over and help test out a new spell she was working on. The spell was simple. At least, that’s what Twilight had claimed when Starlight arrived at her castle.
Twilight had gone over the spell numerous times, and saw no reason that it could be considered potentially dangerous. Of course, that didn’t exactly sit well with Starlight. As someone who was still a basic-level spell user, she had her doubts. “But, Twilight, what if something does go wrong?” She had asked. The alicorn had simply smiled, and convinced Starlight that if that did happen, she would do her best to solve the problem immediately.
As it turned out, something did go wrong. The spell was meant to alter the species of a pony into one of the other two pony species temporarily. She was going to turn Starlight into a pegasus for a short period of time, and carefully watch for any side-effects. Obviously, Twilight hadn’t accounted for what ended up happening as her magic changed Starlight.
“Um… Starlight?”
Everything had seemed a bit off to Starlight. She had certainly become taller, and her vision had become fairly poor. “Uh, I feel a bit strange, Twilight.”
“That’s because you’re a… a…”
“A what? Spit it out, Sparkle! What did you do to me?!”
“You’re a Tyrannosaurus Rex!” Twilight had yelled, reeling back in terror, which brought us to our current conundrum. “B-but I don’t understand, I checked every single aspect of the spell!”
“Well clearly you messed up somewhere down the line,” Starlight grumbled. “Change me back.”
Twilight got up hesitantly, and fired off a slight alteration of the spell in Starlight’s direction. Her reptilian body was overtaken in a pink glow, but when it faded, she remained the same. Twilight chuckled nervously, wiping away some sweat that had gathered on her forehead. “You’re gonna laugh.”
“Oh. My. GOD.” Starlight was furious, and took a step towards Twilight, shaking the foundation of the castle as she did. Taking one of her newfound arms, she pointed a claw angrily at Twilight. “You better find a way to change me back, or I’m gonna—”
Starlight was cut off by the sound of a nearby door slamming open against the wall. She and Twilight turned to to the doorway to see Spike waltzing out, a newspaper furled up under his arm. “Hey, Twilight, the toilet’s clogged, so I’m gonna—” He paused, having finally taken notice of Starlight. She was expecting him to freak out and run away, but he doubled over in laughter. Wiping a few tears away from his eyes, he looked back to Twilight, then to Starlight again. “Oh man, you turned Starlight into a dinosaur? Now that is classic!”
“I didn’t mean to!” Twilight yelled, groaning loudly.
“A-and those tiny little arms!” He pointed out, falling to the ground from his laughter. Starlight, having had enough of this, turned in his direction. By the time she got her body reoriented, though, he was gone. Feeling a bit of pressure on her tail, she realized what was going on.
“Hey, get away from my tail!” She shouted, pulling it up, then slamming it straight down to shake Spike off. Once she was sure he had left, she turned back to Twilight, only to find that she wasn’t there. “W-wait. Where’d Twilight go?”
“I’m still right here,” her mentor replied. The voice had definitely come from where Twilight had been standing only moments earlier, but she was still nowhere to be seen for Starlight.
“No you’re not. Are you using some sort of illusionary spell or something?”
Twilight blinked, confused. Starlight seemed to be staring straight at her, yet claimed she couldn’t see her. That’s when it dawned on her. “Oh!”
She moved a little bit, and Starlight immediately took notice of the slight shift. “Aha! You were using a spell to stay hidden!”
“Actually, I just remembered that the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s vision relies on movement. “If I remain still, you can’t see me once you turn away and then turn back.”
Starlight narrowed her tiny eyes, sure that this had to be some kind of a joke. With a grunt, she turned away, then back, only to find that Twilight wasn’t lying. She was gone. “Okay, I can’t possibly go outside like this.”
“That’s true,” Twilight sighed. “I’ll have to spend the day looking over possible counter-spells to find a solution.”
“Well, while you do, I am starving,” Starlight’s stomach growled, sounding like a small tremor. “You got any… I dunno? Meat?”
“WHAT?!”
“Well… yeah, I’m a carnivore now, Twilight. I need to eat meat or I’ll die.”
“Okay, there is no way I am letting you eat anyone!” Twilight shouted back, flying up in the air to meet Starlight face to face. The pony turned dinosaur gave off an annoyed snort. The force of the air leaving her nose pushed Twilight backwards, and Starlight formulated a hilarious idea.
“Hey, Twilight, can you c’mere? I wanna whisper something to you.”
Twilight was fuming, but decided to humor her friend. “Fine, what is it?” She asked, moving up close to Starlight. The T-Rex gave off as much of a grin as she could, and opened her mouth, letting out a monstrous roar that sent Twilight flying straight back into the wall. The alicorn was knocked out cold on impact, and Starlight frowned.
“Crap, guess I’ll have to wait for her to wake up,” Starlight sighed. Suddenly, an idea hit her. “Or… I could go to Ponyville and have some fun messing with everyone!”
That option sounded a lot juicier, so she decided to roll with it. Of course, nobody in Ponyville was prepared for the chaos that would ensue as Starlight entered the town, most of all Mayor Mare, who was almost immediately crushed under one of the dinosaur’s feet. The town held an election shortly after, and Starlight Glimmer won in a landslide victory, a result of the town being too frightened of incurring the wrath of a Tyrannosaurs Rex.
And that was how Starlight Glimmer became the first dinosaur to hold the position of Mayor in Equestria’s history.

Fun fact, the Tyrannosaurus Rex actually had eyesight that was about 15 times better than that of a human's!
That wasn't nearly as funny, though, so I went the Jurassic Park route.
