Maid to Please a Princess
Back and forth, Spike paced, standing about the foyer of the castle as he wondered when she would arrive. Ever since moving into the crystal castle, Spike has had a lot more to clean up, and it just didn't seem to end. In spite of how small it looked from the outside, it was utterly massive on the inside. There had been several instances of him getting lost in the corridors and needing to write a letter to Twilight to come and find him. Needless to say, there was a lot to clean inside, and it was just way too much of a pain to do.
With that in mind, he started looking around for some servants to give the two a helping hoof, though it was mainly so that he wouldn't be the only one doing everything while Twilight had spent her time reading. Thankfully, he managed to come across a special maid business in town that would be delighted to send someone down to help out the princess of friendship. One little visit yesterday had managed to get him some questions from Twilight, but he managed to get away with it. All that was left to do meet the top rated mare that he had hired.
A little knocking on the door had managed to make him smile as he ran right over, prying the door right open to meet the maid, but with a surprised look at just who was standing there. She was a rather short pegasus pony with a pristine ice blue coat. In terms of sheer height, she appeared to be halfway between Applejack and Applebloom, just barely tall enough to not be a filly, yet not tall enough to be considered a mare. Her mane was kept somewhat long as she had dual-colored hairs that were mainly a dark cyan and some darker shades of blue mixed in. In spite of her short-ish mane, her tail was incredibly long, practically reaching down to the ground. Her eyes were also somewhat unusual, for that matter; they started at the top of her irises with a dark shade of cyan, but as the colors traveled down to the center of her iris, they changed to a dark purple, and then became a bright pink near the bottom, almost like they were an aurora. She also had a bag of what could only be considered cleaning supplies next to her as well.
"Hello!" she greeted rather cheerfully, her voice rather high pitched and sweet sounding as her wings flapped about slightly in excitement.
"Oh, uh....Are you the maid?" Spike asked, blushing nervously.
"Mhmm, that's me alright. I'm Snow Fairy" she answered, nodding her head as she placed a hoof upon her chest and gave Spike a pleasant smile. Spike was just left with a rather awkward feeling like this was all some sort of prank being played on him, but she seemed rather serous.
"Alright then, uh....I'm Spike and...Well, it's, uh....nice to meet you" Spike replied, somewhat taken aback by just how cute she looked. It wasn't like he hadn't met many mares, but he certainly felt as though there were something....unique about Snow Fairy is all.
"Aw, you're blushing" Snow Fairy practically sang, putting her hoof onto Spike's cheek, the latter giving a surprised little shock from the feeling of how incredibly cold her hoof was. Spike just swallowed hard and gave a little chuckle as he backed off slightly, needing some space between them as Snow Fairy lidded her eyes with a knowing look.
"So, uh....I'll just get out of your mane and...let you start cleaning then" Spike said as she nodded, picking up her bag and trotting inside.
"Any specific places you should show me first?" Snow Fairy asked, Spike thinking to himself slightly as he considered giving her a tour of the castle, assuming that he wouldn't get lost again.
"Oh, uh, I'll just give you a tour of the place then. Wouldn't want you getting lost, right?" Spike answered, giving an awkward chuckle.
"No need to worry about that, I have a great sense of direction" Snow Fairy stated with a cute little smirk.
"Of course you do" Spike sighed as he just led the rather short mare throughout the castle, conveniently not finding Twilight anywhere down the line as they traveled. The two of them chatted slightly for a moment, but it wasn't long before finding their way back to the foyer and leaving Snow Fairy to work.
"So, uh....Just do your best and all, and....I guess I'll see ya when you're done" Spike told her, Snow Fairy giving a little chuckle as she opened her eyes up just enough to show off a rather....different look. Her eyes were lidded, and she seemed to have a certain glimmer in her pupils.
"Don't you worry, I'll have this place shiny enough to blind you" Snow Fairy boasted, taking her things out of her bag and getting to work by polishing a few of the crystals on the interior. Spike wasn't exactly sure what else to do, so he merely went back to his room to get started on that gigantic pile of new comic books that he hadn't gotten around to yet.
After finishing her seventh book for the day, one Twilight Sparkle soon got up and stretched as she headed out towards the kitchen to get started on lunch. As she walked throughout the hallways, Twilight had found an unusual smell of....some kind of berry perhaps? It seemed to practically coat the entire hall as she looked about, seeing the crystal interior looking relatively polished, shimmering slightly even.
"Wow, I guess Spike must've really been in a cleaning mood. Good for him" Twilight smiled, going through the halls with a much bigger stride than before as she admired how well of a job that her little assistant had done. As she approached the kitchen, she could've sworn that she heard all kinds of different scrubbing sounds coming from inside, even smelling that same berry smell that was all over the rest of the hallway. With a smile on her face, Twilight went into the kitchen to congratulate Spike on what he was doing when she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.
A pony dressed in a maid costume had been busy scrubbing the stove with a washcloth, flapping her wings in her little outfit. It was a typical maid costume with a primarily black base and a wide skirt, having a white apron at the front of it. She also wore white socks on each of her legs, each hoof adorned with a small, black slipper. Her tail was even tied up neat and proper, topped with a dark blue bow.
"What in the-Who are you!?" Twilight shouted out, the maid in question around-showing off how she had a typical little maid headband as well.
"Oh, you must be Princess Twilight Sparkle, it's an honor to meet and serve you" Snow Fairy greeted rather casually as she roosted upon the ground and bowed before Her Highness with her eyes closed.
"No, that's not what I was asking, who are you and what are you doing in my castle?" Twilight demanded to know.
"I'm your maid?"
"I didn't hire a maid though"
"That's strange, Spike had said that-"
"Spike said WHAT!?"
Meanwhile, back in his room, Spike had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"Uh-oh" he said as he picked up his things and headed out to where he could hear all kinds of arguing going on, finding himself in the kitchen where Twilight was glaring rather angrily at him, and Snow Fairy just giving a confused look. It didn't take a genius to see that this was going to end badly for him.
"Spike, why is it that you decided to take upon yourself, the task of hiring a servant without even discussing it with me?" Twilight asked surprisingly calmly, though it was still easy to see how upset she was.
"W-well, you know how huge this castle is, and it'd take forever to clean it up all the time, so I thought that....well, I thought it would be good to get a maid to give me a helping hoof with it all" Spike answered, being incredibly worried about his fate as Twilight's assistant. Twilight just sighed at that and shook her head ever so subtly.
"Even in that case, you should still at least discuss things like this with me first, I'll be the one paying for everything like this anyway!" Twilight stated, getting increasingly angry as Snow Fairy suddenly hopped up onto Twilight's back. "W-whoa, what are you-" Twilight started as she reared up on her hind-legs, suddenly feeling something cold and soft enveloping her entire head, making her calm down slightly. Spike was a little shocked by it too, looking at such a thing happen; Snow Fairy had her wings wrapped around Twilight's forehead and seemed to be hugging her rather tightly.
"There-there, just calm down and relax" Snow Fairy cooed sweetly, lidding her eyes as her wings massaged Twilight's temples.
"Wow, I.....This is weirdly calming somehow" Twilight stated as she felt her anger at Spike recede.
"Just a little something I learned some time ago. I kinda come from a long line of ponies adapted to cold weather, so we eventually gained this kind of trait; ice-cold bodies to be immune to the cold outside world. Pretty handy for calming other ponies down too" Snow Fairy explained, giving an adorable little giggle afterwards with a hoof before her smiling mouth.
"Well.....I guess that you have done a really great job thus far, and this is relaxing at least, so...." Twilight mused as Snow Fairy pulled her wings back and folded them at her sides.
"So...?" Spike asked, crossing his arms across his chest and fighting the urge to give a cocky smirk. Snow Fairy had dismounted from Twilight to allow her to sit and look at her with her eyes taking up the majority of her attention, giving her an almost cat-like begging gaze. Twilight stumbled with her words for a moment, trying to find the best way to go about such a situation before eventually closing her eyes and standing upright, clearing her throat.
"So you may continue working as you have been" Twilight decreed, making Spike and Snow both give a little cheer. The two hugged one another for a moment as Twilight just stood there, watching them both be happy and trying to avoid giving Snow Fairy a little petting. Something told her that this would take some getting used to, but it would be worth it in the end.

Just another thing I thought I'd try with my OCs, this one being the adorable little herald of winter, Snow Fairy.
