A door made of oaken wood creaked open as a white mare with electric blue hair slowly stepped inside. Her cutie mark, or specifically lack there of, floated on her flank as she walked into the shadows of her house. Sighing, Vinyl turned on the lights and slowly made her way over to the bed in the right corner farthest from the door.
"Stupid idiots, can't hear talent when it smacks them on their ears.." Vinyl whispered angrily as she laid down in the yellow bed, it's light burning as a lone window near it was open to the light of Celestia's sun. Vinyl merely sighed once more, her mind a hazy fog as she thought over the days events, good and bad. A single thought flitted through her mind, one she had thought of before.
If I'm so good at electrical music.. Shouldn't I have an opposite? Someone who.. Is my shadow? Vinyl whimpered as she thought of all her life, being brought up by her dad who cared little for her. Her mother disappeared years ago, before Vinyl was old enough to remember. She glanced over to a nearby nightstand. On the birch stand sat a pair of purple glasses with a hidden secret.
Getting up, she walked nearby to the stand and put on the glasses, her smile shining for the first time in weeks as the ability flowed through her. The door shut as a note glared above it: a rest note, with a electric tail that snaked throughout the house. As it snaked, notes appeared in its wake, bathing the house in meanings only Vinyl understood.
A single head nod was all it took. Music blasted from nowhere, the notes chaotic and random. As the music continued Vinyl delved into her mind, to a place only she knew of. Instantly the notes organized themselves and became a harmonic symphony from deepest to highest, the notes all held in a position familiar to the white mare.
Vinyl smiled as the notes started to intertwine, their combined music making Vinyl feel happy, like she was on a cloud seeing only Celestia's sun. The song she made blared in her mind and her ears. The song was so loud that Vinyl started to black out from the volume. She tried to turn it down but the noise only increased as her mind scrambled for a rational thought. Before she fell into a void, Vinyl felt a tug and a thought.
SISTER.

Vinyl awoke with a start. Her mind floated about until it landed on her latest memories. Vinyl cried silent tears, thinking she may be in the afterlife, and begged silently to be sent back home. Gradually, the land around the white mare came into focus. Rather, the lack of land. Vinyl gasped as she saw white lights suspended in a endless blue void. She started flailing wildly as she thought of herself plummeting through the depths of this non-reality. Vinyl barely noticed as white boxes started to fly towards her until they lined up on either side of the tired unicorn. She stood up, her legs protesting as they seemingly cramped.
The boxes quickly filled in color, showing off a mare and stallion in a hospital bed, clutching two tiny sacks in their arms. The mare was a white mare with a gray mane, and the stallion had gray fur with a dark blue hair patch for a tail. Vinyl could barely believe it (if at all) as the two sacks wiggled and two faces emerged. One was her own, a shock of blue hair adorning her violet-red eyes, the white fur and horn proving it to be the mare watching the images. The second sack revealed a gray-furred pony with a dark gray mane, its eyes a purplish pink. As Vinyl watched, the bundle that was her went with the dad, while the other baby went to the mother. Vinyl's jaw dropped as the scene showed detail after detail of the other pony's life, nearly identical to her own save a few changes.
Both of the fillies had loved music, though the grey mare loved classical just as much as Vinyl loved electronic. The girl was studious and tried hard in school, despite rumors of being a 'party mare' by night. Both had come to live in small towns, trying to scrape a few bits together to get by. As Vinyl watched, her eyes filled with tears. The mare had even suffered a terrible day as she did, and had a similar ability to Vinyl's! Vinyl cried and wished she could see the pony, thoughts of having a sister rushing through her mind.
She was stopped as she heard a similar crying about five hoof-steps away from her. Looking to her left, Vinyl saw the pony from the images. She didn't bother asking questions as she hugged the mare, her mind full of the previous images of this poor mare's life. Both the ponies hugged and cried for who-knows-how-long, before the other mare spoke.
"So.. Who are you?" The mare asked.
"Vinyl Scratch.." Vinyl whispered tiredly.
"Oh. My name is Octavia Melody." The mare (now known as Octavia) replied.
" So.. Are we?" Vinyl inquired, leaving the unspoken question hanging in the air.
"I do believe we are.."
"SISTERS!!" Both of the mares yelled at once as tears of joy splashed down their faces. Both cried and hugged once more as they enjoyed each other's company.
"So, where do you live?" Vinyl finally asked after they had finished crying.
"I live near Horseshoe Bay." Octavia replied.
"I live in Ponyville! It is rad down here. Please, come!" Vinyl spoke urgently, her mind racing as she began to hear the song that had brought her here.
"I'll try!" Octavia tried to say over the song that she heard, but neither heard the other as the songs grew more intense. In a flash of light and sound, the two disappeared as they fell over.

As they did, a single alicorn hovered down to the scene she had witnessed. Celestia stood silently over the place where the two reunited sisters once stood, her mind calm and collected. As she had wished, she would always reunite her subjects. Nopony deserved to lose a loved one, after all. Celestia silently cried as she recalled her sister, and the Ethereal realm faded from her vision. NOPONY WOULD EVER BARE THE PAIN SHE HAD FELT. NOT IF SHE COULD HELP IT.
The royal bedchamber Celestia slept in appeared around her, and as it did, Celestia called for her sister.
"Yes sister? What hath invaded thy thoughts to call upon me?" Luna inquired as she entered the chambers, her head hung low and her eyes trained on the Sun Monarch. Luna only made a 'OOMPH' sound as Celestia pulled the Lunar Monarch onto the bed and into a hug. Words could hardly express Celestia's thoughts, but she still tried.
"I love you, Luna.." She whispered into her sister's ear.
