Why Boredom And Chaos Gods Don't Mix
The Arrival and Discovery
"Ahhhhhh!"
The crisp morning air was pierced by a shriek that was seemingly loud enough to shake the living and wake the dead. It came from a delicate, dark skinned girl, sitting in a field. And it was certainly loud enough to wake her companions.
"What!?" screeched a startled, rainbow-haired girl as she fell out of a tree.
"Ah'm up!" exclaimed a tan blonde, unconsciously reaching for the Stetson that sat near her head.
"I'm awake..." mumbled a girl with pale pink hair, who laid a few feet away from her.
"What in Equestria was that noise?" asked a purple-haired girl as she gently rubbed at her eyes.
"I swear I didn't eat the cookies, Mrs. Cake!" said a girl with poofy, pink hair as she bolted upright.
"I could've sworn I took off my alarm last night..." muttered another girl with purple hair, who was far younger than the others.
"It's too early for this, Applejack..." whined a redhead, as she rolled over.
"Rarity, Opal got tangled in the fabrics again." said a girl with pinkish and purplish hair, as she jammed a non-existent pillow over her head.
A young boy wearing a purple jacket merely snorted and squirmed a bit before settling again.
A woman with rainbow coloured hair yawned lightly before looking around for the source of the noise.
"Who screamed?" asked the woman next to her, whose hair seemed as though it was full of stars. "And why?"
"I did." said Twilight, brushing her indigo hair, with its purple and pink streaks over her shoulder. "As for why, well, have any of you looked at yourselves?"
Simultaneously, each member group took a good look at themselves; those who weren't properly awake sure were then.
"Oh, the horror! I've turned into a monkey overnight!" Rarity exclaimed.
"Not a monkey, Rarity. A human. Though you're not all that far off...." said Twilight, turning her head to face the woman who'd asked the question and the lady next to her. "Princess Luna? Celestia? You don't seem very surprised. Do you know how we ended up like this?"
"Yes, actually, Twilight Sparkle. Discord, the childish fiend, has clearly sent us to another dimension. Unfortunately, this particular dimension has no magic. Pegasi cannot fly, unicorns cannot use magic and earth ponies do not have more strength or the ability to tend to the land any more than either of the two. This dimension is called Earth." explained Luna.
"Furthermore, what you have just been told is all that is known about this strange dimension." Celestia spoke.
As the two explained, the group had slowly gravitated closer. For a few seconds, they sat in astonished silence. Then,
"You mean to tell me we can't go back?! Or use magic at all?!" Twilight hyperventilated.
"Scientifically speaking, we cannot return. However, the residue magic left after Discord sent us here would hypothetically be enough for, by my estimation, approximately three spells of moderate power." said Luna.
"This. Is. The. Worst. Possible. Thing!" Rarity cried, dragging an arm across her forehead as she fell backwards onto a loveseat that wasn't there.
"OW!"
"Oh, sorry, Spikey." Rarity tittered apologetically.
"It's all good." he said, rolling out from beneath her.
"Cheer up, guys!" Pinkie chirped as she held up her hands. "Just imagine how easy it'll be to make cupcakes with these bad boys."
This seemed to alleviate some of the tension caused by being in a whole new world. Rainbow Dash laughed.
"Good ol' Pinkie. Never cha...." she let the sentence trail off.
"Never do what, Dashie?" the party-pony-turned-person questioned in response.
"Guys, I see more of these human things!" the athletic girl said.
"What if they hurt us?" Fluttershy worried.
"Ah'm really not about to find out!" Applejack said, as the group dispersed and his among the trees that bordered the field.
For a moment, everything was still. And then a voice cut through the air.
"Damn it, Jax!" came an angry shout. "I thought you said someone was out here!"
"Well, that's because Ah heard voices!" returned another voice.
"Blitz, you need to, as you so often say, chill out. Ajax did not mean to lead us out here without reason." chimed another.
"Um, guys?" came a quiet call.
"Without reason? Mah farm was being trespassed on and I brought y'all out here without reason?"
"Guys?" asked the quiet voice once more.
"We understand, AJ. You thought someone was out here. And it's obvious someone was. Don't any of you see the footprints?" questioned Elliot, blowing his tricolour bangs away from his eyes.
"Guys?" the quiet voice questioned.
"Guys! Evan's trying to say something!"
"Sorry, about that. Go ahead."
"Thank you." Even though they were all paying rapt attention to the group, no one noticed the young man who stood next to Fluttershy.
"I found someone."
The others quickly made their way over to Evan and Fluttershy, their earlier argument easily forgotten.
"You don't seem like the type of person to trespass on someone else's property." Elliot said.
"Guys! Guys! Maybe she was on her way to a party and got lost!" Quinn chimed in.
"Ah doubt it, really. Wouldn't hurt to ask though." Ajax turned his head to Fluttershy. "Were ya goin' somewhere and usin' mah farm as a shortcut?"
"N-no, I-, um- eep!" she squeaked.
"Um, can I talk to her?" Evan asked, taking in the girl with pink hair oddly similar to his own.
"Go 'head, she seems pretty terrified of me."
He stepped a bit closer and spoke softly, which really wasn't a problem for him.
"I'm Evan, but sometimes people call me Butterscotch. What's your name?"
"I'm Fl-Fluttershy..."
"It's nice to meet you, Fluttershy. I'm really sorry about this." Evan said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck. "My friends didn't mean to scare you. Ajax -he's the one whose family owns this farm- was a little bit, um, upset. Because, it's y'know, bandit season and we heard voices. He was just protecting his property. And, um- uh- a-are you okay?" he addressed the yellow-clad girl who'd sunk to the floor at the mention of bandits.
He crouched down and put a hand on her shoulder.
Big mistake.
Instantly, he was tackled to the floor.
"Rainbow Dash, no!"
