Canterlotian: The Story of Canterlot's Schoolponies
It was a blizzard coated day in Southern Canterlot. Many ponies were busy trying to hurry before snow coated their streets. One such place that was in a hurry was the Hospital, the same hospital where our story begins. Fleur Dee Lis was hurried in, her last child on the way. Fancy Pants was in a frenzy, but hoped that his wife would be the recipient of a room to give birth.
Luck would have it that they got a room to let her have the foal, and their hopes were for a strong young foal. After being set up, Fleur was given unnecessary birthing instruction. She had two children already. A 4 year old filly, and a 6 year old colt. This would be her last foal, and hopefully the strongest and most polite young foal in the family.
"Come on, get up. It's your first day of 6th grade. So hurry up!" Fancy Pants said with a harsh tone to the colt his wife had bore 11 years prior to this day.
The foal in question, muttered incoherently and rolled around a bit. The blanket was yanked away and the colt whined. His dream was shattered, the same dream he was having a great time feeling. A dream where he was a grown up, calling the shots at a grand company. Sadly, he felt reality hit him, and a pillow from his dad's halfhearted attempt at waking the colt.
"What is it, Dad?" The colt grumbled in a grumpy tone. His father made a motion that the colt understood. Then obeyed.
"What it is, Father?" The colt said properly instead. He looked his father dead in the eyes, anticipating an answer, but instead got a scolding.
"You know what your mother and I have said. If you can't be proper then you will be given a weekend without allowance and being grounded at the same time. If I'm mistaken, that greeting was no where near proper! Do you understand?" His father's tone, made the vague happiness from the colt's dream evaporate.
"Yes, Father." The colt said sadly. His father turned, and stormed out. The colt, named Blizzard Lights, was no where near as happy as he was when he'd been asleep. His sister stepped in.
"Are thou okay? I heard Father yell." Blizzard's sister, Misa Lona, was a sweet and kind filly. And was always there when his father got mad.
"Y-yeah." He held in his tears. His brother would tease him if he cried from a scolding. Misa gave him a small hug. Then left to handle her morning routine. Which Blizzard set out to do as well. He wasn't 'Okay', not even slightly. His father was hurtful in his delivery of scoldings. Which he dished out to Blizzard as often as possible. Breaking him apart, and forcing him to act a certain way.
He put on the shirt he was given for the first day of school. A fine black dress shirt. With a grey plaid tie. It was plain, boring, and too fancy for him. He didn't like being handed things, especially clothing of the quality that this shirt feel under. He wanted to throw it to the side, and be normal.
He then went to comb his mane the normal way he had it. Off to the side, just as boring as the shirt. The getup made him want to be strangled. At least if he died like this they wouldn't have to prep his corpse for burial. He went downstairs, his dad and brother, Leonardo Vinci, were at the table. He tried to get past them without being noticed.
"Blizzard, come here." His father said firmly. Blizzard swore internally. He listened, and went to the table.
"Y-yes, Father?" He asked nervously.
"Are you ready for school?"
"Yes." Blizzard was surprised to hear that, but hid it. He didn't want to seem strange.
"That's good. Plan on making some friends?" His father asked with a cruel smirk, knowing how shy his youngest child was.
"I don't know. Maybe?" Blizzard felt sick. His father always made him nervous.
"Interesting. Maybe, find a sweet filly? Or colt, if that's what your into?" Blizzard's face went pale. He knew his dad was going to subtlety break him.
"I-i-i...."
"Father, I shall walk Blizzard to school. If you'd kindly let that happen?" Misa Lona stood at the door, her dress decorated with small flowers. Blizzard felt a short wave of relief hit him.
"Sure, take him to school. We can always have a talk later." The last part made Blizzard swallow in fear. He walked as calmly as possible to the door, once outside he let the real emotions go. Walking awkwardly, and shaking with anxiety. Misa stopped him at one point.
"Are you okay? Really okay?" She asked, concern and care in her soft voice.
"No! I'm not!" Blizzard wailed. Letting tears go, his father was his tormentor to a certain extent. Laughing at his son having crushes on fillies and colts, anxiety and shyness, and a hate of stern tones.
Misa spent a few minutes trying to coax her brother to be peaceful and calm.
Blueblood paced outside a hospital room, waiting for his wife and newborn to be announced so her can see them. His nerves were spiking rapidly. He wanted to be there, but the doctors said for him to remain outside, as a precaution. He heard the door open, but the doctor's face was grim. Blueblood's heart sank down to his legs when he entered the room
11 years, his son was already so grown up. Standing in the bedroom looking quite happy to be going for his first day in 6th grade. Unfortunately, the poor child's mother was not there to witness this special moment with her own eyes. She had died bringing this proud colt into this world.
Blueblood held in his tears, and piped to his son.
"Go get your stuff together please. Breakfast is on the table." Blueblood turned and left. The colt began to mutter foul words under his breath. Grabbing his things together, and silently cursing his father for reminding him so often about his far gone mother. The colt, Golden Truth, was a proper but kind young colt. His proper actions were a by product of being related to Blueblood, while his caring behaviour was a side effect of his mother's personality.
He gave a final check for everything, then ,with a deep breath, forced a smile and walked down the hall to the main room and dining area. He sat at one of the chairs, and began to eat his breakfast. His father smiled at him.
"What?" Golden asked awkwardly.
"6th grade already? It feels just like yesterday you were learning to talk."
Golden waited for his dad to look away to roll his eyes.
"Okay? That's decent?" He replied.
When he finally finished his food, he left to get to school. Just to escape his father's strange actions, and because school was a requirement. As he was walking he passed a colt wearing a black dress shirt and grey plaid tie. He seemed rather down. But he had to attend to more important business than asking a random pony about his problems. After all, if he knew the pony, he'd help and make it easier to withstand the emotional distress.
At any rate he made it to school,and had some time to socialise with his classmates. The same colt from earlier looked fine when he entered the school, which wasn't long after Golden had entered. So Golden shrugged and assumed he got over his problems.
