The Chaos Of Our Worlds

     It was a peaceful day on the planet of Mobius. Everyone was safe, and no wars were currently taking place. Knuckles guarded the Master Emerald, and Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Silver held on to one Chaos Emerald each. However, three of the Chaos Emeralds were scattered across the land, yet to be found.

     Out in Marble Garden Zone, the red Chaos Emerald sparkled in the early morning dew. Eggman's robot troops have retreated ever since the event in time known as the "Sonic 3 and Knuckles Era." The only life that surrounded it was the grass below it. That was, until the sound of footsteps appeared.

     No one was around to hear the steps, as they came closer to the emerald. The figure came closer as the sun shined on him, reflecting off of the metal on its body.

     The figure walked closer to the emerald, close enough to grab it. The figure picked it up with his hand. "With this, I can beat Sonic, if I find the other emeralds..." said the figure. He then picked up the emerald, and walked off.

     Out on Angel Island, Knuckles stood in front of the Master Emerald as he angrily asks, "Testing your luck here again?" "It's you who's testing your luck, guarding that emerald," countered Rouge, stepping out of the shadows, "I'm taking the Master Emerald from you today." She says, and Knuckles replies with, "We'll see about that."

  Knuckles leans against the Master Emerald, waiting for Rouge to make her first move. She gets impatient and flies upward, then flies horizontally at him, her fist locked back, ready to make a punch when she comes close enough. Knuckles moves out of the way and rouge stops, not wanting to harm the master emerald. Knuckles takes this time of distraction to punch Rouge in her back, sending her to the ground.

     Rouge gets up and starts to fly vertically, leveling with Knuckles, and quickly turns around and spin kicks him, which sends him back about a hundred feet, which gives Rouge the chance to make her escape, she starts to pick up the emerald when something sends her flying into the sky. Rouge levels and hears Knuckles yell, “LEAVE AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!!” She flies off, angry.

     "Go!" Tails shouts out on Seaside Hill as a big cloud of dust gets kicked up into the air. A blue blur runs along the path in the area. Almost immediately, the blur stops at the cloud of dust, where it started, making the cloud even bigger. "Time!" shouted Tails, standing within the now larger cloud of dust, looking at the stopwatch in his hand, "0.335 seconds. That's your best time yet!"

     "Cool! Bet I can beat it again!" Sonic said to Tails as the cloud starts to fade. Getting ready to run, he turns to Tails and says, "Ready?" Tails puts his stopwatch away and says, "Not now Sonic, the sun is shining bright and hot, and unlike you, I haven't been running all day, so I haven't had the wind in my face all day." "I guess that's fair," states Sonic, "but how about we go get some food, I'm starving!" "Fine by me!" replies Tails.

     A cloaked figure walks through the blistering heat and sandy terrain of Wild Canyon. "It's got to be around here somewhere..." says the cloaked figure. He walks along the temple ruins as he searches for what he needs. He then noticed, however, that one of the boxes were untouched from the "Sonic Adventure 2 Era." "I'm surprised Knuckles didn't look for the Master Emerald in that box. However, that's probably where the emerald I'm looking for is. And I don't have any weapons on me, so it's a good things these boxes can be easily broken."

     The cloaked figure starts to walk over to the box, but before he can get there, the box is hit with a multitude of gunshots, breaking open after the first few. "Who goes there!?!" the figure questioned, his red eyes shining in the sun.

     "Oh, you're here to? You cloaked figure, I know who you are," says a figure standing in the shadows. "Metal Sonic… what are you here for?" asks the cloaked figure. "Same thing you are for, Shadow the Hedgehog, that green chaos emerald," replies Metal Sonic, stepping into the sunlight.

     "I heard you are holding on to one of them already," states Metal Sonic, "and I think I'll bring both of them along with me and give myself a total of three." "You already have one!?!? F#%k!" outbursts Shadow. Metal Sonic replies to the sudden change of mood with, "How about a duel? Whoever wins gets the other’s chaos emerald, as well as the green one. Do you accept the challenge?" A smirk appears on the black hedgehog's face as he accepts the challenge and tells Metal Sonic, "If it's a fight you want, then it's a fight you'll get!!"

     "Oh, and I think I should tell you that Dr. Eggman has given me an upgrade. I am now able to copy the abilities of others, after a quick scan. And that includes your chaos abilities, Shadow." remarks Metal Sonic. Angrily and suddenly, Shadow sprints at the green chaos emerald laying on the floor. Metal quickly gives chase, however being slightly closer than Shadow, they both reach and make contact with the emerald at the same time, and both simultaneously yell, "Chaos Blast!!!"

     Over at Empire City, Sonic and Tails sit at a table next to a local food stand. "It's still amazes me that you're able to break your record every time you take a lap!" exclaims Tails, before dipping a part of his soft pretzel in cheese and eating it. "It's simple! Just run faster every time! ... Of course, I also do plenty of training, so I can improve my speed!" answers Sonic, after finishing the last of his chili dog.

     "Hey Tails, I'm gonna go jog around the city, see if anything has changed since we've been here," states Sonic. "Sure thing!" replied Tails, "I'll join you after I finish my pretz-" Tails was then cut off by an explosion in the distance. "Hold up, what was that?!?!" cried Tails. " We should probably check it out," says Sonic, "It could be Eggman." Pressing a button on his wristwatch to bring his plane, the Tornado, to him, and grabbing ahold of the last part of his pretzel and his small container of cheese, Tails replies with, "Sounds like a plan!" before hopping in the Tornado, with Sonic on the right wing, and flying towards the sound of the explosion.

     Tails flies around where the blast was, smoke still visible, Sonic still on top of one of the wings. “Hey Sonic, who do you think that is?” asks Tails. “Probably Shadow and someone else, my guess would be Metal Sonic,” replies Sonic. Tails flies closer to the smoke cloud, seeing now that the smoke has cleared, the battle visible. They see a little of the fight, however, before another explosion goes off, and the plane goes down.

     “Get OFF!” Shadow struggles and finally manages to push Metal off of him sending him back a few feet, enough to buy him time to grab the emerald and yell, “Chaos Control!” Shadow starts teleporting around, ending diagonally a few meters away from Metal. Shadow teleports one more time, right behind Metal, puts his right foot behind him, brings his arm back, and punches Metal Sonic right in the back of the head with enough force to knock him on the ground. Metal tries to fly forward, but ends up being stopped at the leg by Shadow’s foot. Metal turned his head and something told Shadow that Metal was smiling, not for real, but inside. "Chaos Control.” Shadow felt a sudden pain in his back, before he was sent at full speed across the desert.

     Shadow woke up and had full recollection of the events happening before he originally passed out. He checked the ground around him and cursed too many times to count out loud. Metal Sonic had a total of three Chaos Emeralds.

Tails rubbed his head and struggled to get out of the rubbish that used to be the Tornado, but ended up just cutting himself even more. He managed to get his tails, which seemed to have a few cuts, out of the rubbish pile of… whatever part of the plane that was. Sonic was lying one one of the wings, unconscious, blood trickling down his face. Tails managed to get himself up to there, when he noticed that the pouch holding the Chaos Emeralds was empty. He managed to open up a gash enough by jumping off the plane to just not really care anymore and just wanted to get home with Sonic. He picked up Sonic and dragged him across the desert. He passed out at the town entrance.

     Sonic's eyes opened up slowly, and he sat up in a bed. He had no idea where he was, so he checked his surroundings. He noticed Tails on the bed beside him almost instantly. "He must be knocked out," thought Sonic. However, the last thing he remembered was the Tornado being in the radius of a blast, then crashing. He didn't remember anything after that.

     Sonic looked at his arms and noticed that they were bandaged up. He also looked around other parts of the room he was currently in, and could finally come to the conclusion that he and Tails were in Sticks' house. He gets out of the bed and starts to stretch, but  when Sticks comes in the room, he stops and stands back up. "Oh, you're awake!" exclaims Sticks, "But ya' know, you shouldn't be stretching. It could reopen the wounds."

     "Err... I guess you're right, whoops," Sonic replies. "Anyway, what happened? The last thing I remember was standing on the wing of the Tornado." "I can't say much, but Tails here dragged you to the town entrance and collapsed alongside you," answers Sticks, "I then brought brought both of you here and bandaged ya'll up."

     Sonic told Sticks what had happened, with the explosion, the battle, and the plane going down. Tails woke up a few hours later, and he explained to them both what had happened after the Tornado went down.

     "I think we need to get back out there and do something about this!" exclaims Sonic. "I know that we need to get out there and fight, Sonic, but we're too badly injured we need to stay here for a while yet to recover" acknowledged Tails. With that, Sonic answered, "Yeah, I guess you're right, Tails."

     Metal Sonic walks through the desert, the lowering sun reflecting off his body. He walks in silence as he sees something else reflecting the sun. He walks closer to the object, to see that it is a scrap pile of plane parts. The words TORNADO were printed along some of the scraps. However, something else caught Metal’s eye. He reached into the the area of scrap that used to be a cockpit, and grabs a couple of things also reflecting sunlight. He then walks away with five chaos emeralds, as the sun falls below the horizon.

     Within a couple days, Sonic and Tails were healed enough to continue on their journey. Before they left, they thanked Sticks for what she had done, and went on their way. The first thing they did was travel to Wild Canyon, which was where Tail’s GPS said they were before the blast. As they walked there though, they encountered Shadow, limping slowly through the desert.

     “Hey, isn’t that Shadow?” questioned Sonic. “I believe it is,” replied Tails, “But I don’t know why he’s out here, especially with all of his wounds. He should be resting somewhere where his wounds can heal.”

     Shadow trudged through the sandy desert in no general direction. It was difficult to move, for every step he took, he just felt pain with all of the scratches and wounds he had obtained from the fight with Metal Sonic.

     Before he walked anymore, though, he heard some footsteps walking through the sand. He looked behind him as quickly as he could. He saw the blue hedgehog himself, as well as his yellow fox partner. “What do you two want?” grunted Shadow, whose injuries made it a little harder to speak. “We were just walking to Wild Canyon, because that is where our plane went down. Why are you out here?” questioned Tails, who was mildly worried about the many cuts and bruises on Shadow.

     “I was out in Wild Canyon, and I was trying to snatch another Chaos Emerald for safe keeping, but that metal scum showed up with enhancements from Eggman,” snapped Shadow. “He already had one emerald when we fought, and-” He was cut off by Sonic stating, “So it was you fighting Metal Sonic when the explosion went off.” “Yes, it was me and Metal fighting,” sneered Shadow, “However it was that little metal s#%t that won and took the green emerald, and my blue emerald.”

     “So that would mean Metal Sonic has two emeralds...” Tails points out. “No, he has three,” corrected Shadow, “He already had the red emerald prior to the fight.” “Well, at least me and Tails still have our emeralds, right pal?” asked Sonic, as he turns to look at Tails, and sees his worried face. “Right??” Sonic asks again. “I’m afraid not, Sonic,” answered Tails. “F@#K!!” cussed Shadow, “He must have those as well!”

     “There’s not much we can do about that now,” stated Tails. “He’s right about that,” agreed Sonic, “But what we can do is find the sixth Chaos Emerald in order to open a time portal and contact Silver.” “Then what are we waiting for? We need to find that emerald! Come on, lets go!” Shadow demanded. “We can’t, Shadow,” responded Tails, “You’re too injured to continue. We’ll take you back to our town.” “Fine,” replied Shadow, “But we must hurry!” The three member gang then raced towards the town.

     In the far future, there is a thriving city. Legend has it that it was once named Crisis City. However, no one knows why. In this future metropolis lives Silver the Hedgehog, with one of the chaos emeralds. However, the Chaos Emerald Silver has will not cooperate with the other seven Chaos Emeralds. This is because the emerald Silver holds is from Sonic’s era, not his own.

     However, one night in this city, there is a major power outage, as the Chaos Emeralds powering the city have vanished. However, the emerald Silver had kept safe was still with him. The orange Chaos Emerald.

     “Something must be off in the past, much like the Iblis event, during the “Sonic 06’ Era,”” concluded Silver, standing on a cliff a few miles from the city. “However,” Silver continued as he thought out loud, “The problem is I don’t know when in the past this would occur. I guess I can only wait it out for Sonic to come and tell me what happened. In the meantime, I will try to calm down the citizens.” He then used his telekinesis to fly towards the city.

     A couple days after Sonic, Shadow and Tails went back to the town to get Shadow healed up, they headed out towards Station Square, for Tails made a device to help track down the Chaos Emeralds.

     “Where do you think this emerald is?” questioned Shadow, and Tails was quick with a reply, “It looks like it’s somewhere over in this area.” Tails then pointed towards a grassy field inbetween the streets. Sonic quickly ran over to said location, and picked up the cyan emerald. “Got it!” he exclaimed to the others. “Hold up,” Shadow remarked, “That seemed a little too easy.”

     “Yeah, but we have it now, atleast,” replied Tails, “And it doesn’t seem like Metal Sonic is around here anywhere.” “Hey now Tails, you tryin’ to jinx us?” Sonic asked playfully. “No,” answered Tails, “What I’m trying to say is that we need to create the portal soon.” “So lets do so!” Sonic exclaimed, “Hey Shadow, think fast!” He then tossed the Chaos Emerald in Shadow’s direction, and Shadow quickly and easily caught it.

     “Chaos Control!” boomed Shadow, as a spark of lightning from the emerald opened uo a portal next to the group. “Come on, we don’t have any time to waste!” called Shadow, jumping into the portal. The other two quickly followed. The portal then quickly closed, but not before a certain character saw the time device open while looking for the cyan Chaos Emerald.

     In the future, where the blackout of a city was a recent event, the time traveling trio arrived. “Why is everything so dark?” questioned Sonic, “I mean, I know it seems to be night and all, but it shouldn’t be this dark.” “Could it be that a creature attacked the city?” asked Shadow.

     “Hey, what is that?” called Tails, pointing to a glowing object in the sky, “It looks like a blue comet.” As the object came closer to the group, Sonic and Shadow recognized what it was and both shouted at the same time, “It’s Silver!”

     The glowing, cyan object, who was Silver the Hedgehog, came and landed in front of them. “I’m so glad you came!” stated Silver. “We’re glad to see you to, pal,” replied Sonic. “Silver,” questioned Shadow, “Do you have any idea what’s going on with this city?” “Yes, in fact, I do,” answered Silver, “The Chaos Emeralds have mysteriously disappeared, causing the city to go into a blackout, for the emeralds were the power source.”

     “So that’s why the city is so dark,” concluded Sonic. “However,” ordered Shadow, “We need your help. Metal Sonic has the first five Chaos Emeralds-” “The first FIVE?!?!” cut off Silver. “Yes,” continued Shadow, slightly annoyed, “And we need your help to take him d-” Shadow was then cut off again, as Metal Sonic had appeared and drop kicked Tails a couple meters away from the group. “WHAT THE H#$L!?!?!” Shadow thundered.

     “Hello, I hear you have the final two emeralds,” threatened Metal Sonic, “Hand them to me, and there won’t have to be any violence.” “Not for the likes of you!” called Sonic. Shadow, coming to his senses, grabbed Silver and boomed, “Chaos Control!” He and Silver where then gone, teleported to the top of a building a few miles away from Sonic and Metal.

     “Why did you do that?” Silver requested, “We need to go back and help Sonic and T-” “I need to help them. You need to stay here,” Shadow snapped. “Why?” asked Silver, confused at Shadow’s request. Quick to reply, Shadow stated, “Metal Sonic has a new copy ability. Once he scans you over, he’s able to copy your abilities, and use them against you. We don’t need him copying your telekinesis. Now, once again, I’ll go back and help him. You stay here with your Chaos Emerald.” And with that, Shadow had teleported back to Sonic.

     Shadow had just taken Silver and teleported away. It was now just Sonic, Metal Sonic, and Tails. “Looks like your friends are cowarding out on you,” mocked Metal Sonic. “They probably had a reason,” sneered Sonic. By this time, Tails had gotten up, and looked at his wristwatch. He scanned Metal Sonic, and called over to Sonic, “Be careful, Sonic! He has chaos powers like Shadow!” However, before Sonic could comprehend what Tails told him, Metal Sonic had shouted, “Chaos Control!” Then next thing Sonic knew was that he felt impact on his back, and was flying forwards.
