A Darkened Heart
CH1: The Beginning
Load Full StoryNext ChapterHoofs clicked on the crystal floor as Angel walked down the hall to the kitchen. She was hopping for a veggie omelet for breakfast. A cool voice sounded behind her. "Good morning Princess." Angel tensed, she hated being called that. She had a name and there was more to her than her royal status.
"Cosmic Blast," she said calmly as she could. "You know I wish to be called Angel, not Princess," Angel shot him a hard stare. Angel wasn't like the other princesses, she didn't hold her head high or act as one would expect royalty to act. No she had a blade sharp tongue, fiery ice blue eyes, and a personality all her own.
Blast snorted at her. He too didn't act as one would expect, especially toward Angel. Most guards bowed to all princess, even young Angel, but Cosmic Blast looked at her as if she were nothing but a pain in his flank. He often snorted at her and wouldn't listen to her saying he listened to her grandparents first, than the Captain of the guard, than Angel. "Calling you by name would not be right of me. You shall be addressed as I have been told. Which is a princess," he said in a emotionless gruff voice. Angel sighed irritably. "Fine, I'm going to eat. I plan to visit the shops before it gets busy."
Blast blocked her path, "not unless I come with, and not until you finish you studies for today." Angel felt ready to explode at the guard. She not only liked having her tell her what to do, she didn't like the he was a year younger and telling her what to do. "I got ahead in my studies and I know I can't leave without you, unfortunately," Angel hissed under my breath. Blast heard but said nothing. "Fine then lets eat a go."
After breakfast the two made their way to the market area. Angel took particular interest in the booths with books and necklaces while Blast looked at the ones with armor and other medieval type stuff. Angel was slightly interested in that kind of stuff as well but mostly the clothing and of course necklaces. She wasn't one to be into girly froufrou stuff but necklace were her exception.
As they shopped Angel looked over at her guard watching her look at some swards and for some reason this made her uneasy. She wasn't afraid of him so to speak but there was something...unnerving about him at times. His cold and closed personality was mostly why but it was also his eyes which were much different for others. His eyes were two different colors and each held a look of what Angel described as soulless.
