Rock School 101

Maud was doing a practice test with Marble in the dorm. Typical.

All Marble ever wanted to do was study. She was eager to stay in the school. Even if it meant rejecting friends,fun,and worse of all forgot to feed her pet rock;Igneous.

Marble was a part of the PETR. (Ponies for Ethical Treatment of Rocks) She cared for all rocks big or small. Never would she step on a rock path or step on a rock. To make matters worse she continued to "save" the lives of rocks everyday. This resulted in a lot of her bags being especially heavy.

Maud did care for Marble though. It was Maud who substitutes as her mom. Cloudy Quartz was too busy churning butter or selling rocks,so it had always been up to Maud. Ofcourse Obsidian Pie,the Pie sisters' young aunt,sometimes watched them.

Obsidian was very...outgoing. That's how to put it I suppose.

Obsidian was the family joke. She was young and wild. She couldn't even churn butter correctly like all the other Pies could. Maud had churned butter from birth with a giant stick,it was just like walking. There was really no effort to it.

But Obidian wasn't the most responsible one in the family. That was Majd.

Maud was the responsible one,the good one,the perfect one.

"Sorry you got this one wrong."Maud said as she pointed to a picture of lapis lazuli.

"Mmhmm."Marble responded as she looked at the picture harder.

Maud was color blind. So memorizing ricks was hard for her,but she had done it in kindergarten. Let me remind you,she LOVES rocks!(more like obsess)

You call it rocks,she calls it love.

"All students prepare for bed."The intercom commanded.

Marble sighed and put her papers away as Maud slipped into bed.

Maud closed her eyes for a few minutes but was then poked gently in the side.

She opened her eyes to see Marble. Maud rolled her eyes,turned the night light on,tucked Marble in,and gave her a kiss on the head.

"Mmhmm."Marble thanked Maud.

Maud then went to the other side of the room and snuggle in her bed. Ofcourse she slept with a rock.

This rock was named Baby Basalt.

You read that one right too sonny!

Maud has a rock named Baby Basalt. She had rescued him,here at the school. He was being used cruelly in a wall with thousands the of others. When she took it all the other rocks were free.(rather broke the wall if you ask me and cost the school thousands)

He was safe now under his new mom's careful watch and care.

Maud was a very mother like figure to a lot of ponies.

It was the first breakfast at the school.

Maud was leading her three sisters to a table in the cafeteria.

"I can't wait to have some cinnamon rolls!"Pinkie said.

"Mmhmm."Marble agreed.

"Those rolls are mine!"Limestone aggressively snapped.

"Ok Miss.Bossy."Pinkie joked,but then she asked Maud,"What are you getting Maud?"

"Whatever the Lord gives me."Maud answered.

"Cool!"Pinkie pretended to be pleased.

The girls walked up to the counter to receive the food.

"Here ya are!"The lunchlady said as she gave both of them a piece of toast.(with a thick layer of gravy)

"Nothing jelly can't fix!"Pinkie happily said as she happily put some jelly on her toast.

Marble just looked sad and went to find a seat with Limestone.

"Is that it?"Maud asked the lunchlady.

"Sorry darling."She replied sarcastically.

Maud went to sit down with her sisters. She was still mad about this "breakfast".

Maud decided to give some of her food to Baby Basalt. He wasn't a picky eater.(not like he could be)

"Maud! Over here!"Pinkie hollered as she waved her hoof in the air.

"Coming."Maud muttered at she slowly paced herself as she neared forwards the table.

"I don't think this is a meal."Maud commented as she took her seat.

"I think it'll be great!"Pinkie corrected Maud.(Pinkie had a lot of jelly on her toast,so it's more than likely it was sugary and sweet)

"I hate gravy!"Limestone scolded the toast.

"Mmhmm."Marble sadly said as she looked at her depressing meal.

"At least it's better than when Obsidian Pie made eggs."Pinkie reminded.

Everyone laughed,except Maud who had no expression.

Obsidian had accidentally put sprinkled on the eggs,thinking they were whip cream. It was a hilarious moment that the girls loved to talk about,well behind adult backs that is.

"Yeah. I make way better eggs!"Limestone bragged.

"Mmhmm."Marble happily said.

Maud gave Baby Basalt some toast. He seemed to love it and was munching it furiously (in Maud's eyes that is)

Pinkie always lightened the mood and made people happy. It was just her thing. A good thing.

"Ha you wish!"Pinkie playfully challenged Limestone.

Marble smiled and watched the girls as they playfully gnawed at each other.

"Ahem!"The intercom said."Classes will begin soon. Remeber today is the day to sign up for choir and the school newspaper. Enjoy your lovely breakfasts."

"What's your first class anyway?"Limestone asked Pinkie.

"History if rocks. But Marble is studying Chrystals. Maybe she'll turn into a Chrystal Pony."Pinkie Pie teased.

Hmm? Could she do that?

The only Chrystal Pony at school was Minuette,and she wasn't in sight at the moment. It was quite strange and odd. But she must have an early class or something. Not everyone ate breakfast.(who wanted to?)

"Where is Mineutte?"Maud asked.

Marble shrugged her shoulders as the others gave each other puzzled looks.

"Odd of her to just disappear."Maud said as she looked around the room.

All the other students were eating the toast/dirt and enjoying it.

"Oh well."Maud said giving up the search for her new friend.

It was no big deal.
