The date had been nice. Twilight was finally comfortable enough around me to let loose. If i hadn't kept an eye on the time, I would have gotten her home late. Shining Armor made a special point of telling me "Sunset, get her home late, and we are going to have a problem."

Cadence of course told me to pay no mind. I still insisted that we leave burger king just that taddest bit early. We got on my bike, but not before i made sure Twilight was wearing a helmet. I wore one as well. Safety first.

Except tonight, that didn't matter. As I drove her home, i came across the first cooperative light. As I continued driving, she leaned up and said

"I love you Sunset."

I blushed and was surprised, because this was the first time.

"I- I love you too, twilight."

I didn't know that would be the last thing i would say to her. We got hit full on. We slid across the pavement a good five hundred feet. I was glad i wore my leather, because i was able to get up. She wasn't. I rushed over to her, ignoring the slight sting in my hip. Her helmet had fallen off.

She was hurt. Bad. Her forehead was busted wide open. A bone was sticking out of her leg. The road rash was severe. Save she wasn't breathing.

I called 911.

"Hello, this 911 what is your emergency?"

" my girlfriend and i were just hit on the intersection of everfree lane and draconequus avenue. She isn't breathing." i said in a panicked tone.

" we are sending an ambulance now. Just hold tight. The ambulance will be taking you to st. Magnet hospital. Do not worry, it's just a name. It has no religious affiliation."

I didn't care a damn horse feather about that. I just wanted her to be okay. " thank you."

I hung up and dialed the more dangerous number. Not caring about anything but her, i called cadence.

"Hiya sunset! How is yo-"

" there has been an accident. An ambulance is on it's way to get us... But twilight... She... She's not breathing. It will be taking is to st. Magnet... Just... Meet us there?"

"Already in the car." click.

I sat there crying over her. The ambulance eventually came and they put her on the gurney.

" relation to this woman?" one of them asked as i climbed in.

" girlfriend."

" does she have any allergies?"

" no medical allergies, no."

And we sped off.

Hours passed in the waiting room. They rushed her to icu. Her brother had his head hung in his hands, while cadence told him it would be alright. I was pacing nervously, hoping that she was right. That twilight was just injured.

Dr. Nurse Redheart walked into the room, her head hung low. I knew what she had come to say before she even opened her mouth.

"I'm sorry to tell you... That... Despite our best efforts... She... She didn't make it. I am sorry for your loss."

I fell down to my knees. Shock overcame me. Horror, shock... Then finally, the worst of the feelings. Depression and guilt. I started crying. Shining armor and cadence were crying into each other.

The next day at school, i couldn't pay attention. Lunch finally came, and i broke the news to my friends. They started crying. I cried to. We were, the entire school for that matter, was grieving over her death.

Except one individual who was smiling and talking to herself. I knew her, because rarity's sister had a crush on her.

Lotus Cake. How could she be happy?

I marched over and felt slight chill but payed it no mind.

"How can you be happy at time like this?! Don't you know friend just died? that my girlfriend just died?! how dare you smiling at a time like this? Why are you talking to yourself?" i demanded.

My friends came over to tell me to calm down. The while school had their attention turned towards us.

She simply smiled and took out a cigarette. She lit it up.

"I wasn't. I was talking..." she took a long drag and blew smoke out on the spot felt a chill. Slowly a familiar form appeared. Glasses, shy stance... It was twilight.

"To her." her smile grew, especially now that she had stunned the school, including the principal and vice principal. So much that they ignored the fact she just lit a cigarette and smoked on campus. She left it in her mouth as she took her tray the drop zone and left, singing lyrics to Disturbed's Haunted.

Twilight just stood and waved. As the smoke left, i saw her mouth at me, "i love you."

Then she was gone again. The entire cafeteria was silent.

And i felt hopeful.
