Life in Canterlot High

Good Time and the Dream

Previous Chapter

The school day went through nice and easy, which I was surprised about. The students were a nice, welcoming bunch. It made me feel good, but also a little unsure and I don't know why.

I was the last one to leave the parking lot aside from the janitor, Discord. I just didn't feel right with everyone looking at me and thinking, 'he looks likes a show off', or 'he gets special privileges and he's new?' If you drove a Pickup like mine and you were at a Stuck-up, show-off, piece of shit school like Crystal Prep, you would think the same way, wouldn't you? Anyways I was on my way home when I was called by Dusk, which I happily answered the phone.

Dawn: "How ya doing Dusk?"

Dusk: "I feel good, just got accepted into the Mechanic class I wanted. You?"

Dawn: "Good first day, even though somewhat short, but better than at Crystal Prep," I paused before finishing, "Thanks."

Dusk: "For what?"

Dawn: "For the shirt, I like It. How did you know the M82's are my favorite?"

Dusk: "You always play Black Ops 2 with it as your Primary, as well as fallout games with the M82 weapon mod and always use it."

Dawn: I smiled while adding, "To-shay, and really though, I like it. Wore it in the school actually." I left out parts like 'It's comfortable' and the like.

Dusk: "Glad to hear, I'm pulling up and I got stuff to do so, I'll catch you this weekend maybe?"

Dawn: "Maybe, sure. Bye."

Dusk: "Bye." and he hung up. I turned on my radio to the CD player and listened to the first song: Real Gone.

I pulled into the driveway at around 15 till 4 in the evening, noticing the 1966 C10 Chevrolet I needed to finish working on for Dusk's father. Yes I work on vehicles, mostly just refurbishing/rebuilding classics for a living but I digress. I opened up the garage to get my tools out and change when I heard a noise. I whipped around seeing nobody.

I didn't know if I should Grab my .357 magnum Mk1 Desert Eagle beside me and go look. But the neighbors would either shoot in the air or shout for anything suspicious. Considering everyone in a town of less than 400 people, 20 miles outside of the city, was either born in the south or like me: Parents raised in the south, moved here, then I was born. Everyone here watched each others six as much as everyone had two or more guns in their home. Most people who pass by here for some sights say: Were more safer then the most useless organization on the planet could ever be, which is pretty accurate to, since the Department of Homeland Security is pretty useless.

I decided to go to work on this beauty of a classic. It had a white paint job on it with blue flames on the body. 155 Horsepower, 250 cubic inch engine, giving decent torque with great fuel efficiency of 4.1 liters in a straight 6. Though there was some problems with the engine, such as the pistons were corroding before the block itself, which I replaced with Homemade Stainless Steel Match Pistons, as well as a head gasket and interior stainless steel lining to help prevent corrosion for years, as well as smooth operation for the pistons as well as overall performance. If you can't tell, I rebuilt engines for years, all from my house.

I fixed it up as good as new, with new tires which I was getting ready to put on. Until someone tapped my shoulder. I whipped around, fist clenched and almost hit my neighbor, BFF, Moondancer.

Moondancer: "Sorry for scaring you Dawn." stepping back between scared and nervous because I could have struck her.

Dawn: "It's all right." I said dropping my fists, while my heart rate dropping down to normal.

Moondancer: "It's coming along good huh?" she said with a smile.

Dawn: "It is," following the sound of my impact wrench unscrewing the lug nuts, "just putting on the new tires before taking her out for a spin," which I always do when I rebuild the engine, before adding, "you wanna ride in it?"

Moondancer: "Sure, I guess." she said twirling her locks with her index finger, which was cute. We grew up here in the same Neighborhood, so we were like BFF's in a way.

Dawn: "Alright then, It shouldn't take long." the sound of my impact on and off between swapping out old tires with new ones on original rims, that I got from the Junkyard a while back and repainted them. I was putting up the tools, Moondancer helping also before declaring, "Alright, Lets go give her a test drive." I opened up the passenger door for Moondancer and raced to the other side, hopped in, and started her up.

The engine cranked up within a second, telling me the parts I made were running nice and smooth. The exhaust made the 66 pickup sound sounded like a NASCAR vehicle, I even pushed the gas pedal a few times which told me two things: one, the engine was modified for racing at one point in time. and two, this engine is a high performance, V8 equivalent custom built engine in an Inline 6 package, which explains why there were two turbo-chargers under the hood, which there was many made like this from the factory, just never sold many.

Moondancer: "Semi-Rare engine, Right?"

Dawn: "Yep," I said pressing the brake and shifting her in gear, "Let's see how this bad boy can run." I said while pulling out into the street, Moondancer buckling up just before flooring it.

The sound of the exhaust, as well the torque of the engine made a good amount of smoke from the tires for a split second, before taking off down the street. The speedometer went from 0-60 in less than 2 seconds, I know cause I was looking at my watch before braking at around 85 miles an hour. The dash on most pickups like this went from 0-100 M/H, this one went to 160, all ties this pickup together about how bad ass this truck is/was around the time. Now we were just cruising before Moondancer chimed in.

Moondancer: "That. Was. Awesome!" she squealed, quite similar to a fan-girl at a Garth Brooks concert, "We need to do this more often."

Dawn: "Got my Grandpa's old 69 Mustang GT in the garage we could take out sometime, If you want." Moondancer gave me a surprise peck on the cheek.

Moondancer: "I would love that." she said softly, while putting her left hand on my right one, which I wasn't using at the moment and squeezed it.

We backed up in my garage bout 2 hours later, ready for Dusk's father to come get it tomorrow afternoon. I Killed the engine and ran to Moondancer's side, opening the door to let her out.

Moondancer: "See you tomorrow afternoon?" she asked, smiling.

Dawn: "Sure, Dusk will be over also for the weekend so," I paused before adding, "You wanna go fishing after school tomorrow?"

Moondancer: "As long as I'm with you yes, plus, Love you." she gave me a wink before heading home.

We may be BFF's, but were more like a brother and sister status in a way. She does like me, but not like that, Even though her parents want me and her to be boyfriend/girlfriend. Personally I wouldn't mind that, but I told her until she says it, I won't want you to feel like your forced to be with me. Which she understood, she knows I don't want anyone to feel like their a slave, I you know what I mean.

I went Inside my front door to be greeted by my dog Gabe, which is a German Shepard, jumping on top of me.

Dawn: "Hey buddy," I said, petting him while on the floor, licking me before getting off. I got up and stated, "I'll give Moondancer's mother credit, she can clean, huh boy?" Getting a bark from Gabe, in agreement.

I went to the garage to close after letting Gabe out for a few. I washed my hands and got out of my jumpsuit, while grabbing the shirt Dusk gave me and calling Gabe to come in. The garage door closed just moments after. I went to my bedroom, which used to be my parents. I started thinking about them, the good times I had, then I started thinking about how they died. I wasn't affected from It for now at least. Gabe, however, could tell I was worried.

Dawn: "It's nothing bad boy."

I had Gabe for about 3 years now, and dogs can tell if their master is depressed or not, after all, their said to be 'Mans Best Friend' for a reason. I got in the shower and let the hot water hit my head, loosening my muscles from the little bit of work I did, but the 2 hours of sitting down in a great classic pickup with Moondancer, my back needed it. When I got out bout 30 minutes later, I put on a pair of khakis and a polo, and went to sleep. With Gabe's head on my stomach.

"Mom, dad, are we there yet?" I asked

"Almost,the-" My dad was cut off, falling to the ground. Then my mother. Then I felt a prick in the neck, then within a second I joined them.

I don't know how long I've been out, I was blindfolded, but I came to my senses I could hear screaming. The type of scream of someone being raped, "MOM, DAD, Where are yo-," Following the sound of a certain Desert Eagle fire, my fathers. With one, followed by another. I heard Footsteps coming towards me, removing the blindfold, allowing me to see what I didn't want to.

My parents, laying on the floor, necked, bruised, gut-ridden and covered in blood from knife wounds. I couldn't see the faces of my captors, but I noticed what one of them was holding: My pa's Prized Mk1 Desert Eagle. and the god damn, fucking, son of a bitch was holding it. No, not holding it but pointing it. at me. Aiming it at my head but before firing it, a shot from what I could tell, a 9mm hit him, which caused him to fire a hot .357 magnum at me. in my upper left portion of my rib-cage.

I shot up in bed, breathing heavy while scaring Gabe. I pulled my knees to my chest, burying my face and cried uncontrollably for what felt like an hour. When I got myself together, I looked at my alarm clock which said it was only 3:57 in the morning, which made me think mostly about how lucky I am to be alive.

I sighed, glad it was just a nightmare, thanking God I was alive another day. "I may have only one lung, thy father who art in heaven, but I'll live thine life to the fullest, before thou angel of death comes to take thine self away from thee miseries of tiss' forsaken planet, Amen." Gabe barked at me before licking me in a approving way.
