"Yes! I'm so exited!"
Twilight Sparkle, awoken from a good night's sleep, jolted with the recall of her first day of magic school. She was overfilled with excitement to walk straight out the front door already, but she had many necessities to gather into one small saddle bag. She levitated books as quickly as possible, skimming through the labels to find the right novels. Two resulted in going in the bag. Twilight rushed down the stairs of her tidy home, with her "can we please go to school already" expression prepared. Her mother was in a deep conversation with Shining Armor, when he turned to Twilight to encourage her for the big day.
"Twily!" he yelled expressively. "Are you exited for Magic School?"
Twilight responded positively with much glee. "Of course, big brother! Twilight is always ready!"
"I think we should move along," said Twilight Velvet. "We might be late, it's already 7:45."
Twilight rushed outside immediately when echoing those words over and over again in her mind, cold sweat running down her forehead.
"Gonna be late, gonna be late!"

The building of the school looked massive from Twilight's perspective. She thought it was as tall as a skyscraper in Manehatten. She shed away the thoughts on the size, and focused back to the first day. She was very eager to run inside and start her lessons as soon as possible. She began to trot until her mother made her halt.
"Nopony is going anywhere until hugs," her mother giggled. Twilight rolled her eyes secretly and gave her mother a hug. She then ran off into the school.
The interior of the school was humongous. The green lockers shone brightly from the radiance of the lights overhead. Ponies chattered about their amazing summer, and Twilight was trying to find a way past all the commotion. At last, the speakers from the ceiling spoke out an announcement.
Attention, all students. Please report to your classrooms. Foals on the right, older ponies on the left.
Twilight found her classroom with the announcement guiding her easily. She recalled the teacher she met a few weeks ago, who's name was Mrs. Emerald. She was a pale green earth pony, with gorgeous locks of thick blonde hair. Twilight felt both emotions of fear and excitement, exited for all the education, and nervous about the other ponies. She wasn't very social.
Finally, she opened the wooden door, making a spine-chilling creak emerge, burning Twilight's ears. She took a deep breath, and paced her walk ever so slowly into the small classroom.
The classroom wasn't very unique. An ordinary classroom with pale yellow paint, ABCs on the borders of the walls, and a simple bookcase filled with all sorts of topics and genres.
"Class," Mrs. Emerald said, informing the young foals to get in their seats. "Welcome to magic school, my name is Mrs. Emerald. I shall be your teacher for the rest of the year."
Twilight was listening very carefully, but got slightly distracted by other ponies chuckling. What is that all about?
She shed that thought away, and turned back to Mrs. Emerald.
"It's your first day, after all," announced Mrs. Emerald. "So feel free to play with toys, socialize, and read some books. I will put them away today, but tomorrow, it will be your responsibility. Have fun!"
Twilight trotted straight to the bookcase, noticing she was the only one. Despite the feeling of grief from being the outcast, she picked up a rusty book, resting it in her hooves. She levitated it to her desk, and cautiously opened the delicate pages.
It was a picture book, although she would prefer no pictures. It illustrated the story about a pony who was independent, but on the inside, he was a real hero. He did not socialize, but he helped others in his spare time.
It didn't take a while to read, so Twilight put the hardcover back in its exact place when finished. She carefully decided on another.
Until she overheard something. When she turned, she saw in her vision three ponies crowding around an orange unicorn. Her red mane looked like fire, which she could relate to her cutie mark. She assumed that three ponies were bulling her, but did not jump to any conclusions. She listened to the ponies' words behind her desk.
"Weak magic, huh?" one pony chuckled. "I guess you don't belong here."
Twilight responded by approaching the ponies, defending the helpless unicorn in the corner.
"Leave her alone!" she yelled.
One of the colts turned to Twilight, smirking evilly. "Hmm.....let's think about that.....NO!"
Twilight grew furious, and began to use her magic to levitate the colt. "I said....."
"LEAVE HER ALONE!"
Twilight lifted the three colts at once, shoving them aside into the other corner. The orange unicorn wiped away her tears from her turquoise eyes, slowly walking away shyly.
"Hello!" Twilight greeted. "My name is-"
The orange unicorn ran off, into her desk. Twilight could tell she was very shy. She thought about talking to her later.
After school, Twilight could see the orange filly from a short distance, and trotted over to her.
"Um...didn't you see me earlier today?" asked Twilight.
The orange pony finally spoke out a sentence. "Uh...yes.."
Twilight encouraged her to speak more. "My name is Twilight Sparkle. What's yours?"
The unicorn responded more clearly this time. "M-my name is Sunset Shimmer. And th-thank you for saving me today, Twilight."
"Oh, it's nothing."
Sunset Shimmer walked towards the stone-cold sidewalk, and Twilight followed. "Is this the way you walk home?" she asked.
"Yes," Sunset said. "And I assume that's how you get home as well."
They talked for almost a half hour, and finally encountered Twilight's home.
"You are a very nice pony," said Sunset happily. "I cannot thank you enough for what you did today."
"You too," Twilight replied. "See you tomorrow."
Sunset Shimmer walked off, and Twilight went inside.
She would never forget this day.
