Spike loved days like this. He continued to lay like this for several more minutes, enjoying the tranquility of the morning. Spike cracked one eye open to see Celestia's sun beaming very brightly over the calm streets of the town. The street lights flickering off and few ponies trotting down the streets. Spike watched it all and took each breath with vigor, soaking up the scent of wet grass and flowers just outside the window. He was in his prime, until..... *BOOM* Spike groaned at face-palmed, already hearing Twilight hacking and coughing and coming charging out of the basement with a large limp. She was comically charred, and her hair stood behind her head, spiked and also partially burned from whatever crazy experiment Twilight was doing now. He quietly chuckled and laid his head back onto his pillow, enjoying his last seconds of peace. "Spike...*cough*....are you up?" "I am now..." Spike grunted as he got up from the couch and huffed away his morning breath, stretching his limbs and hearing several resounding cracks, limbering his body for today's wacky adventures. He looked over at Twilight, who still had a clipboard in her hand, writing down notes and silently talking to herself about....whatever she was doing. He peaked down the stairs of the basement and saw a small crystal glowing pink with a crack in one of the edges. He gets a closer look and sees what remains of a small mason hammer and chisel next to the table. He chuckled even more, then resumes his look around the basement. He sees a large charred mark and the handle of a sledgehammer. He looks back to Twilight, who's hair is still pointing upwards like a barrage of stakes. "What happened?" "I was experimenting on a new type of crystal found in the Ponyville mines..." "So hitting it with a sledgehammer was a good idea?" "I needed to test its reaction to large amounts of force." Spike chuckled at the flustered Twilight, who was currently twirling a lock of her hair around in her finger, looking like a foal who just got caught stealing candy. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I think so..." Spike hugged Twilight, but heard a gasp and saw Twilight wincing. He saw her clutching her leg, and he quickly carried her to a chair and rolled up her leg to see a gash spread across her calf. He looked on wide eyed while a few tears dripped from Twilight's eyes. He jumped up and quickly ran to the cabinets to find their medical supplies, and found some gauze and tape. Spike ran back to Twilight, nearly hitting his head on the way down the stairs. He unclipped the gauze and wrapped her leg several times. He proceeded to tape up her leg and ran a finger over it to check its integrity. "Thank you Spike." "No problem, but I think we need someone more professional to stitch it up." "Why not go to the hospital?" "How many times have you been there in the last year?" "..." "Yeah. Ill go get Fluttershy." Spike slowly stepped up the stairs, looking back at Twilight, who gave him a quick thumbs up, and turned the chair around to face the desk, resuming her work. As he walked up the stairs, he noticed that neither of them had breakfast, and quickly threw on a apron. He fetched the ingredients for pancakes and mixed them, making sure the batter is fluffy, just the way Twilight likes them. He flipped the pancakes with ease, and skillfully tossing them onto a plates, covering them in syrup. He put some pancakes on his plate, then took the other down to Twilight. Twilights look, was less to say, astonished when she bit into the pancakes. A pleased sound coming from Twilight, who apologetically looked at Spike, who just waved it off. He went upstairs to eat his own pancakes, but a knock on the door prevented him. As he went up to get it, the door sounded again, and he quickly turned the knob on the door to open it, revealing Pinkie Pie. "Hiya Spike!" Before Spike could respond, his face was engulfed in the bosom of the pink mare. She kept his face in her bust for several more seconds, oblivious to the fact that he was blushing heavily. She let him go and looked around. "So wheres Twilight?" Spike pointed to the basement and walked over to the kitchen table, resuming eating his pancakes. He chomped down on his master craft, and nodded his head in congratulations at his work. He quickly devoured his other pancakes, and saw some left over, quickly scrapping those to himself. After demolishing his pancakes, he put his plate in the sink and washed it. After a few plates, Spike could hear some noises coming from the basement, and saw a glow coming from the basement. He dropped the plate into the sink and ran down the stairs. He saw the crystal that Twilight had, and it was in the middle of the ground, glowing like Celestia's sun. Both Twilight and Pinkie were covering their eyes, and they were trying to cover it. Spike tried to cover it with them, but it failed. "What happened?!" "I dont know, it just started glowing!" Spike quickly looked around to cover the crystal, and noticed a tarp in the corner. He dashed over to it and quickly covered the crystal. His eyes were immediately rewarded with lower lighting, and he looked over at Twilight with a questioning look. His suspicions were confirmed by Pinkie comically hiding herself behind a support beam. "So..... how were the pancakes Twi?" Twilight deadpanned and wrote down more notes. And held her head after doing so, only limping over to the table and placing her notebook down and sitting down in a chair.
