“Rainbow? Rainbow, are you sure you want to do this?”
I had asked her this about ten times, once again redundantly confirming everything Rainbow had told me over the past few months.
“Twilight, we've been over this. Flutters and I are ready to start a family.” I think we've started too soon, let's go back to when this all began.
Two years prior, the stances of the girls and I were a little bit different than they were at the point of Rainbow's daring decision. Let's see where everypony was at in their lives, trust me, I would definitely remember. After all, I am the Princess of Friendship, trying to make sure Rainbow knows what she's getting herself into at this very moment. Anyway, enough chit chat. Let's go back in time.
This was the day that I found out the greatest secret of all. Rainbow and Fluttershy had been dating for a couple years now, which had been long relevant to all of us. Starlight had joined the us in Ponyville about three years ago. At this point, we had grown up and were beginning to become more serious with our lives. This day however, was like no other. This day, was the day, after about a week, that Fluttershy and Rainbow would show up with a big surprise that the we were finally to know.
For the past couple months, or at least until Flutters and Rainbow had most of the wedding plans made, Rainbow had insisted Fluttershy not wear her wedding band in public.
“I'm sorry Fluttershy, but you and I both know that we're not ready to tell anypony we're engaged, much less that we're getting married alone.”
“I know Rainbow Dash. I just wish we could tell our friends, but if you need to wait, I respect that.”
Fluttershy replied to her fiance, continuing to prepare their breakfast.
This day, this was the day, that Rainbow had made the plans. The next day, Fluttershy was allowed to wear her bracelet.
The next day however, was not as romantic and elegant as the first. The second I caught Fluttershy wearing a wedding bracelet, as used for pegasi who could not wear a horn ring for obvious reasons, she flipped out.
“You...you two are engaged?” The rest of the Mane Six turned their heads. Starlight, in shock, dropped a book straight to the floor due to magic failure.
“A...Actually Twilight, we got married last night.” Fluttershy replied softly.
“You got married?” we all yelled with increasing shock.
“I can't believe you two got married and didn't invite us to your wedding!” Starlight yelled.
“We didn't invite anypony! We wanted it to be a private thing!” Rainbow screamed back.
“Stop it!” I yelled. “Starlight, you need to respect Rainbow and Fluttershy's wishes and Rainbow Dash, you don't need to feed into her!”
“I can't help it!” Rainbow yelled back. “I'm not going to stand here silently while she criticizes my life choices!”
“Rainbow!” Fluttershy said at the top of her lungs. “Enough! I do have to agree with Twilight though, Starlight, you do need to respect our life choices, even if you don't agree with them.”
Starlight sat down quitely, head down in apology.
“That's better.” Fluttershy said. “Now that we've taken care of the chaos, who want to go out to Sugarcube Corner to celebrate?”
The girls all cheered. “Dinner's on us Shy.” Applejack said.
“Oh no no no...we couldn't!” Fluttershy said back.
“It's to celebrate your special day. Let us make it more special for ya'll.” Applejack nodded, proceeding to say, “It's no problem at all sugarcube.”
“Really?” Fluttershy replied.
“Of course darling!” Rarity added “A new marriage is a reason to celebrate! Besides, you'd do the same for us.”
Fluttershy nodded as the we went off, and had one of the best times in years.
Now that you have a basic understanding of where are lives were a couple years ago, we can get into the present, where things have continued to progress, and in a very wonderful manner.
“Now it's almost our anniversary, and all she wants is a foal! I have to do this for her...so go on with the spell.” Rainbow said, placing her head downwards as everything went black.
Fluttershy walked in a few minutes later, as Rainbow was coming to. “R...R...Rainbow?” She said, beginning to cry.
“Flutters...everything's ok.” Rainbow said, using her hooves to touch her wife's face. “It's only for now.”
The next few days were terrifying for the couple. Fluttershy feared the counterspell wouldn't succeed. Rainbow feared that her attempts to begin a family would fail. She only had so much time to do the deed, after all, I told her in 4 days, her spell may begin to wear off. Rainbow did her best to make sure that Fluttershy got her wish.
The mares (or mare and "stallion") peeked up from under the covers to see they'd been at it all night.
"Rainbow....I can't believe you did this...and for me....why?"
"I know how much you want a family."
"There were other options!"
"But I wanted it to be ours!" Rainbow yelled out as Flutters went quiet.
"Y...you really wanted a baby of our own that badly?"
"Of course Fluttershy."
Fluttershy lept into Rainbow's hooves as tears of joy fell from her eyes. "I can't believe you'd do that for me, sacrifice your female body and everything...I love you so much."
"I love you too Shy."
Those two lovebirds weren't the only ones up to something.
"Oh Applejack, that feels nice. That feels reeeeeaaaaalllll nice."
As for me, I found love in a farm mare's arms. Wait...why am I telling you this? This isn't even supposed to be about me!
Days passed. Finally, it was time to see if Rainbow's efforts amounted to anything. I used my magic, spawning a pregnancy test from the next room over. The results were stunning to everyone involved. Fluttershy was so scared that after using the restroom, she refused to even approach the test. Rainbow attempted to comfort her, but they both made me read the results out loud.
"Fluttershy...Rainbow Dash...." Rainbow Dash began shaking in anticipation.
"Fluttershy is...."
Rainbow began to yell. "Spit it out already!" Fluttershy proceeded to glare at her impatient wife.
"Fluttershy is pregnant! Congratulations!"
"Fluttershy...we..we...we did it! We're having a baby!" Rainbow screamed joyfully.
"Do you think we could ever have more?" Fluttershy asked.
"With you, I'd have a million more." Rainbow said, nuzzling the mare as the two headed home, ecstatic from the events of the day.
Restless night piled one on top of another. From pregnancy insomnia to nesting to the cries of a newborn foal born in the late hours of the night. A beautiful purple filly with pink hair, adorned with beautiful blue eyes. Dash had never seen anything as wonderful in her life.
This baby was her miracle, her beautiful Rose.
Her precious Skipper Rose.
Several years had passed since the birth of Skipper Rose. Almost all of the mane 6 had at least one child by now...in fact, at this point, they all had children of similar ages.
Sugar, Muffin!" Sugar Belle called for her daughters.
"Coming mother!" Muffin Top yelled from upstairs. "Hurry Sugar High, we're going to be late!"
"I'm trying!" Sugar High replied. "This brush keeps getting stuck in my mane!"
"Come here." Muffin Top said. "I'll use my magic to get it worked out."
"Hurry up girls, we need to stop by Sugarcube Corner to go see Mama Pinkie and pick up your lunches!" Sugar Belle yelled back.
"We're almost done mom!" Muffin Top yelled in reply, finishing brushing the rest of her sister's hair. "Ok Sugar, you're all done." Muffin finished as she slipped the barrette into her sisters hair, leaving a small bow for an accent.
The line at Sugarcube Corner was extensive, so there was no speaking with Pinkie. The best option was to just grab their lunches from the kitchen. Muffin levitated both of their lunches, proceeding to place them in her saddle bag.
"Come get me when you go out to eat lunch." Muffin said gently. "I'll go out and eat with you. I should be done with morning classes by then."
Sugar nodded as she walked with her sister to school.
Skipper was dealing with a similar morning. She'd been up all night. Her parents had wanted a ton of children, and right now, both Rainbow and Fluttershy were expecting. Rainbow had Twilight use the same spell to get Fluttershy pregnant once again, but Twilight also used some of Flutter's DNA to have Rainbow pregnant as well. Skipper had been taking care of her little brother, Sky Fire, all morning, as her parents were having a harder and harder time executing everyday tasks. "Sky Fire!" Skipper screamed. "You are not leaving the house with your mane looking like that!" Skipper caught the young colt red-hoofed with his hair knotted and sticking up in all different directions. "At very least comb it out."
"Fine." The colt groaned, going to brush his mane out.
"That's better." Skipper added. "Now, let's go before we're late to school."
It had been many years since the CMC had been blank flanks. The ex-CMC were still doing their best to help the young foals at the school with their new cutie mark course. Muffin Top still looks forward to all the adventures she'll continue to have with her Mama Pinkie and her friends in the CMC Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle had organized. The school day was soon over, and Pinkie headed to pick up the girls.
"Hey Pinkie! Here for the girls?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Yeah, I wanted to surprise them. How's your little bundle of joy?" Pinkie replied.
"We're fine. I'm due in a few weeks now."
"Wow! How exciting! Should I start planning the baby shower?"
Sweetie Belle chuckled. "Sure Pinkie. That would be lovely."

While Twilight was away visiting Sunset, things had been pretty hectic back home. Pinkie, who had worked very hard planning a baby shower, found out the mommy-to-be was in labor the day of the shower. So...they had a "Welcome to the World" party instead, a few days later of course. Rarity insisted that her sister and niece be well rested and cared for before going out in public.
Scootaloo, being the 'father' of the baby, was also very excited. They had named the child High Note, as Scootaloo wanted her child to live on the "High Wire" and Sweetie Belle wanted to use a musical theme in her daughter's name. The couple, happy as can be, made their first appearance with a beautiful filly, coat as clean as it could be, with a mane full of mud.
A perfect combination of her parents.
Pinkie made sure to plan Rainbow and Shy's double shower long before they were due, to avoid another incident like what happened with Sweetie Belle. They each had an estimated 8 weeks left when their shower took place. The presents were glorious, just like at Skipper's baby shower.
Thinking back to her firstborn's baby shower many years ago, Fluttershy was pretty nostalgic. She could still remember all the excitement shared between her and Rainbow Dash. Cadence had a Crystal Empire themed custom crib made for the foal. Adorned with small replicas of the Crystal Heart, made from Turquoise, the bed was gorgeous. The Mane Six bought paint, appliques, blankets, and wall clings to decorate the child's room. Twilight provided a mobile. As much as Fluttershy adored the effort everypony had put in, not to mention the beauitful furniture, her little filly eventually outgrew it. It was then passed down to Twilight when Apple Aura was born, but Fluttershy had no idea what happened to it after that.
Celestia and Luna would be providing custom-made Solar and Lunar Eclipse cribs and bedding for the foals. Twilight, who insisted on getting in on the deal, bought paint to gradient the room from a dawn to a dusk, and hired painters to go in and paint the " twins' " room while the shower was occurring. Cadence bought decorations and extra furniture, and Pinkie, as usual, bought the wall clings. Rarity made onesies for the foals, and Applejack provided all natural applesauces to feed to foals with.
Three weeks had passed since the shower. The nursery was finished, everything was perfect. This day wasn't like any other day, Fluttershy could sense it. She wasn't sure what exactly, until later that day when the anticipation of something happening became something more than just an expectation.
"RAINBOW!" Fluttershy cried in pain. She found her labor was much more difficult than the ones she had with her first two foals, and this fact alone frightened the yellow mare.
Finally....it was time.
