Pencils

The sunlight sparkled upon the small town high school. Sunset Shimmer was writing in a book that was able to send what ever she wrote to Princess Twilight Sparkle in Equestria. She sighed as she closed the book, she layed it across her legs and looked out into the street. Suddenly, the school bell began to ring loudly, causing her to flinch.

She stood up and put the book in her backpack, turning around Sunset opened the door and walked into the hall. Students rushed past her, ignoring the rule that Principle Celersa has cloned all over the walls. Fluttershy was the only one who walked slowly, Sunset walked next to her.

"You exited for the test today?" Sunset asked as she grabbed her backpack straps.

"Yeah..." Fluttershy trailed off as her backpack began to move and squeak, "Oh Angel, stop that!"

Sunset laughed, "Well I guess you have your hands full."

Fluttershy nodded in response as they continued to walk down the hall. The door to their class room was wide open so they walked in. Sunset shimmer sat in the middle seat of the second row, Fluttershy was behind her, Pinkie Pie as two her her right, Twilight her left and Rainbow Dash was in front.

Sunset shimmer smiled as their Teacher walked in, "Alright Students, I'm going to pass the paper out and you'll have exactly one hour to finish the exam." She paused and looked at the class very seriously, "this will go for eighty percent of your math grade."

Sunset nodded as the teacher walked down each row and gave everyone a piece of paper. Sunset dug through her backpack for her pencils. She began to dig frantically for a pencil, she found a pen. The students were not allowed to use pens when doing homework, so she tossed it into her backpack.

She looked over to Pinkie Pie, "Hey Pinkie-"

Pinkie turned to face her, she had a pencil in her nose, "huh?"

"Ohm...never mine..." Sunset looked over at Twilight's desk. She reached over to grab one of her spare pencils. She heard a low growl from her friend and put her hand back on her own desk. She then poked Rainbow Dash in the back.

"Could I borrow a pencil?" Sunset asked. Rainbow Dash gave her a pencil, Sunset smiled triumphantly. She put the tip of the pencil to the paper, suddenly the lead broke off with a snap.

"Fourty-five minutes class." The teacher's voice said loudly, as if she was mocking Sunset Shimmer.

Sunset stared sadly at the clock that hung next to the door. She rested her head on the palm of her hand. She picked up the pencil and looked at the broken tip, she then looked over to the teacher, "Could I please sharpen this?" She asked.

"Of course, but the one in this room is broken so you'll have to use the one in the principal's office."

"Darn..." Sunset muttered under her breath. She stood up and walked out of the room, pencil in hand.

On the way to the principal's office she saw the school janitor cleaning the floors, he stopped her, "Hey, this floor is slippery you're gonna have to go back to class."

"But my pencil broke and there is one in the principal's office." Sunset replied.

"Then your have to go down that hall..." He pointed off to another hallway that was known as, the deadway. It was dark and covered in spider webs. Legend says that a nerd was put in a locker before the hall way was abandoned and no one remembered to get him out, so he feeds off of the life of other students who decided to use the hall way.

She gulped as she walked towards the deadway. As soon as she stepped onto the first row of tiles, she heard a creaking sound and backed up. She took a deep breath and then raced down the hall. She stoped when she noticed one locker wasn't like the others, it wasn't left open. She opened it, a skeleton tumbled out and she bolted down the hall way.

Soon she was at the principal's office, she stepped inside, "I was wondering if I could sharpen this?" She asked, holding out the pencil.

On her way back, Sunset decided to ignore the janitor's previous warning and walked over the slippery flour. Her shoes didn't slip, she looked down at her feet and realized she was wearing slippers. She groaned as she walked back to class.

As soon Sunset was back the teacher motioned for her to sit down. Once she was in her seat she took her newly sharpened pencil and began to write the first S in her name. She flinched when the bell rang.

"Ok students, please out up your pencils and bring me your papers." The teacher smiled kindly. Every student got up, except Sunset. She clutched the pencil in her fist tightly, causing it to snap in half, "Sunset, didn't you finish?"

Sunset stood up and began to tear the paper in half, "No, I didn't!!!"

"Young lady, that behavior will not be tolerated in my class room!" The teacher put her hands to her hips, "go straight to the principal's office!" She pointed towards the door.

Sunset picked up her backpack and walked out the door. She walked slowly to the principal's office, Fluttershy walked up to her, "So...why did you do that in class?" She asked, innocently.

"Because I needed a stupid pencil and I couldn't get one."

"Oh." Fluttershy began to looked threw her backpack, Angel bunny hopped out and began to run in circles. Fluttershy took out three pencils, "you could have asked me for one." She smiled, handing Sunset some cartoony pencils.
