Spike sighed as he threw the bouquet of flowers across the room. It slammed into the wall, and the petals floated to the ground. He had begun slowly sobbing to himself. ' How could I have been so stupid' he thought to himself. 'There was no chance of Me and Rarity ' he had begun sobbing to himself.
**** Flash Back ****
Spike knocked on the door of Raritys house, he was hiding the bouquet of daisys behind his back. When she finally came out, he felt his heart flutter. She's beautiful was what he thought.
"Spikey Wikey, what brings you here?"
She asked. He smiled and pulled out the bouquet of flowers. He felt hid neck tighten as he saw her eyes widen. He was really hoping that Rarity would say yes.
"R-Rarity, will you go on a date with me? "
He stuttered. She sighed and looked down at the ground. He cocked his head in confusion, he didn't understand
"Spike I-" she looked back up at him "I can't, cause you see , I don't feel the same way about you . "
Spike felt his heart break into millions of pieces. Fresh tears began streaming down his face. That was when he saw Thunderlane sitting in her house, staring at the little dragon with anger.
He was even more confused, was Thunderlane suppose to be dating Rainbow Dash?? He jumped off her front doorstep and begun running as fast as he little legs could carry him.
He did hear Rarity call his name, but he didn't stop running. Eventually he found himself at his home. Bursting through the door , he ran past Starlight and went to his room
**** Present ****
"Spike?"
A familar female voice said. Spike snapped out of his Flash Back and turned to see Starlight standing there. He wiped away the tears in his eyes as she walked over to him.
"Yes Starlight?"
He asked grumpy like. She sighed and sat next to him.
"What's wrong?"
He looked at her with sad eyes. Then she saw the bouquet of flowers slammed against the wall, some of them still being stuck on the wall. She understood know.
"Did Rari-"
"Yes"
Spike said, knowing what she was going to ask. She gave him a pat on the back with her hokf that was closet to him. He cringed but didn't stop her.
"What did you do, you know when Sunburst left you?"
Starligth felt kinda happy that he was asking help from her. But she wasn't really a example to follow by. Since she had stolen the cutie marks from a town and then changed the history of time.
"I left and never made another friend, but you should not fo-"
"Thanks Starlight!"
He jumped off his bed, and began running towards the exit. Starlight jumped off herself and followed the green and purple dragon. She didn't want him to leave, if he did she would have no pony or dragon to talk to when Twilight wasn't home.
When he reached the exit, he spread out his newly sprouted wings and begun his flight. Starlight had only just reached the exit when she saw Spike flying away. She hoofed kicked at the ground and began looking for Twilight.
Spike knew where he was going, the dragon lands. He wanted to see Ember again. She had been asked to find a dragon drake and her father has to choose. In the end he chose Garble. And Ember wasn't happy, she kinda wanted it to be Spike.
Also since Garble was older than Ember, her father made her pass most of the responsibility of being the dragon lord to him. She didn't want to but she was forced too.
When Spike saw the dragon lands boundary, a smile came across his lips. He landed right near the throne. That was when he saw Garble sitting there with the blood stone scepter in his hand. Spikes eyes widened.
"Garble?"
Garble turned his attention to Spike. His eyes widened at how big the Spike he knew had gotten.
"Spike?"
Ember , who was sitting next to Garble. Turned and saw Spike. Who know had a pair of wings on his back. Ember could feel tears running down her face, but she hid them from both Garble and Spike.
"What do you want Spike"
Garble hissed. Ember slapped Garble across the face which caused the male dragon to snort fire. Spike stod his ground and looked firmly at the red dragon .
"I'm leaving my pony friends"
Spike stated. Ember and Garbles eyes widened. Embers eyes suddenly turned to confusion and Garble just smiled. This time Ember spoke up.
"Why Spike?"
"Because, there is no use for me there"
Garble smiled and gave the small dragon a pat on the shoulder. Spike and Ember where both confused by this action. Garble still held his smile.
"Welcome home Spike!!"
"He did what!!"
All of Spikes friends shouted as Starlight told them what had happened. Rarity had tears rolling her snout and Rainbow Dash was curled up in her own ball of sadness. No pony was expecting her to be that sad.
"And I feel like I gave him the idea..."
"It's not your fault Starlight, Spike was heart broken because I denied him. It too is my fault"
"Why didn't you try and stop him!!"
Rainbow Dash snapped. Everypony looked at Rainbow Dash. That was unexpected was on all of there minds. She growled as she looked at Starlight.
"I tried, but he flew away before I could get to him..."
Starlight stuttered worried. Rainbow Dash growled and flew herself into the air. Then she turned her direction to the door of the castle. Everypony looked at her confused.
"Well, I'm going to go and get him!"
With that Rainbow Dash flew at full speed out of the castle. Her wings beating at impossible speeds. She wasn't sure where she was going, but she had a idea where the dragon lands where.
She didn't know for sure that the dragon lands would be where Spike was. But there was also this inner feeling that he was. But, only when she had found out that Spike had left , had a sense of regret begun to form.
She didn't know why, she had never thought of herself and Spike being together. But then why was she flying to get him, she didn't really know. But she wanted her best friend back.
The Dragon Lands were further than she expected. She had to stop right out side of the boundries to catch her breath. She looked in, but could not see Spike anywhere.
She knew that if she was going to be sure that he wasn't there was for her to go into the dragon lands. And she knew it was a dangerous place for ponies, especially mares. But Rainbow Dash could handle herself, and her friends knew that.
She was tempted to call out his name,but that would create unwanted attention. She began slowly trotting into the dragon lands. She hadn't seen any dragons yet so she was sort of happy.
"Oh Spike where are you?"
She said to herself. When she heard the splashing of dragons hitting lava. She looked around rock, and found Spike talking to a small female dragon that had a blue colour to her.
She sighed, she couldn't go and get him without being caught. Well, atleast she knew he was there. So she decided that she was going to go and get her friends. But more importantly Twilight and Rarity.
But, right before she got out. A male orange/red dragon stod over her. She gulped, she knew this dragon all to well. It was Garble, one of the dragons Spike met moons ago.
"Hello little pony"
He said before snatching her wings. Which made them snap. They didn't snap off however, they just hurt alot. She knew that he had just broken them.
"Your coming with me"
Spike was busy talking with Ember and Amethyst, a light pink female dragon. To notice that Garble had taken Rainbow Dash and attached her to the a rock that was near the throne.
Ember noticed and told them she had something she needed to take care of. Spike could tell that the pink dragon in front of him had a crush on him. But he just shrugged it off.
"Dragons turn and face us!!"
Garble shouted. All the dragons, including Spike and Amethyst, turned and saw Garble standing in front of a rock. Spike was confused, then he noticed Ember looked sad.
"We have pony for dinner!!"
All the dragons except Spike cheered. He didn't want to eat a pony. Then he turned and faced Spike. Which made the green and purple dragon gulped.
"Since we have a new dragon in our mists we shall allow Spike to kill her!!"
Amethyst shoved the younger dragon. He gulped and slowly made his way to the stage. Ember could tell that he was tense.
"Why do I have to kill her?"
"To prove that you are a loyal dragon"
Spike looked and Garble and Ember, then he nodded.
"If you don't you can't ever return to the dragon lands, except when us dragon lords call you"
Spike nodded again. Garble smiled and then slowly moved out the way. He was hoping that the kill would be easy, then he would be able to live on as a dragon who finally got a chance to kill a pony.
But, when the pony came into view his pupils shrunk. He looked at the cyan Pegasus in front of him. She had tears in her eyes, and some had fallen down her cheek.
He had never seen Rainbow Dash cry before. He the felt something in his heart, the only other time that he had felt it was when he knew he had a crush on Rarity.
No, I can't be falling for Rainbow Dash can I?? Spike looked at Ember, then the dragons behind him, and then Garble. Ember instantly knew that the pony was one of Spikes pony friends.
"I-I"
"Well go on, kill her!!"
Garble shouted. Spike suddenly felt something flick inside of him. He did had a crush on Rainbow Dash, and he didn't want to kill her because of Garble forcing him too.
Before Spike could stop himself, a word came out of his mouth
"No!"
Spike hissed.
"What did you say!!"
Garble shouted angrily
"I said no, I shall not kill her"
Garble growled and then lunged at Spike, who hit the ground with a large snap. Rainbow Dash gasped and had more tears fall down her snout.
"Spike!!"
Rainbow Dash called to see if he was alright. Spike was dazed on the floor and Garble was smiling above him. Ember looked at the two and gulped.
"If you won't kill her than I will "
Garble got off the smaller dragon and began walking towards Rainbow Dash with his claws ready. Spike looked at Garble, and just as he was gping to give her a deadly swipe, Spike jumped and knocked Garble off his back feet.
Sadly, Spike was a tad too late, so Garble managed to cut the cyan pegasus around the stomach area. Which caused her breaths to shorten and more cries to be heard.
Garble made a hum if satisfaction. Spike turned and saw the cut, he growled and began punching Garble so hard. Garble ended up getting knocked out. Spike then jumped to his feet and got rid of the rope surrounding Rainbow Dash.
Spike could tell that Rainbow Dash both hurt and struggling to stay conscious. He had tears rolling out of his eyes now. He then picked her up and spread his wings out.
"I knew you didn't really want to leave your friends"
Ember said softly. Spike turned to Ember and gave her a small smile before flying into the air. Ember watched with a sad smile. Spike was flying as fast as he could without dropping the precious cyan pegasus in his claws.
"S-Spike, y-you saved me"
She struggled out of her mouth. Spike quitened her and then looked at the town that was coming into view.
"Not yet, your injured Rainbow"
The cyan Pegasus smiled softly before gripping onto Spikes claws. He could tell she was trying to get warm. He pulled her closer and used his own body heat to keep her warm.
Starlight was walking around with Twilight when she saw the green dragon coming into view. She smiled but when she saw the cyan Pegasus crumpled in his claws, her smile dissapeared.
He landed near the the hospital. Starlight began trotting as fast as she could with Twilight to all of their friends houses. Trying to tell them what had happened.
The nurses in the hospital were surprised when Spike came in with the Pegasus. Who had fallen unconscious due to the blood loss. The ponies took her into the E.R and left Spike waiting outside, in the waiting room.
By now, all of his friends had walked in. When they saw Spike crouched, with tears falling down his cheeks they knew something had gone horribly wrong.
"Spike ?"
Twilight said. He looked up and saw Twilight, Starlight, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. He began weeping even moee, but he wiled the tears away.
"Rainbow's hurt"
He sobbed. He then felt the embrace he missed, Twilights. He hugged her tightly as the rest of her friends sat down. He finally finished crying, since he had run out of tears.
"Nurse, is she ok"
Spike asked after waiting for a hour. The nurse he asked turned. She nodded slowly.
"She's still unconscious, but she'll be ok"
"Let them in if they want"
A male doctor said walking out of the room. She nodded, this nurse had a weird structure. She had a light golden coat, but it looked like she had strips on her feet. And her mane was a beautiful blue and green. She brought them into the room, most of her friends gasped, but Spike just sighed.
" thank you"
Twilight said. All of Rainbow's friends said a few things under their breath before allowing Spike to be alone with her. They didn't yet know that the crush Spike had formed on the cyan pegasus.
"Hey Rainbow,I'm sorry that I let you get hurt, if you can hear me. I wish I had never left, but if I didn't I don't think I would be saying what I am about to say.." Spike sighed,
"I believe I have a crush on you Rainbow Dash, and I want you to know, if you don't feel the same way about me because your hurt and the reason you are hurt is me, I understand"
Then he placed a quick kiss on her cheek. He hadn't noticed the blush that had appeared on Rainbow Dashes cheeks . Which was a sign that she was semi awake
He then began walking out of the room, until he heard a familar female raspy voice.
"S-Spike, is it true?"
That voice made him blush and turn around. He saw the cyan pegasus looking at him with hope in her eyes. The blush appeared even redder and she chuckled.
"Yes..."
He walked over to her and out one is his claws on her . She smiled and tried getting closer, but she groaned and her head fell back onto the pillow.
" Spike... I... I think I have a crush on you too"
A deep crimson blushed appeared on her cheeks too. He looked at her suprised. She smiled and then began speaking again. And he let her talk.
"I only realised it when I was kidnapped by Garble and then you saved me.. So thank you.."
She motion Spike to come closer and he obliged. When he was close enough Rainbow Dash grabbed his head and kissed him back. Spike smiled softly.
Spike then spoke up.
"Rainbow, would you like to be my marefriend "
She smiked and nodded. Before putting her hoofs across her chest and saying something he didnt expect.
"And I'm sure you would be a good Drake Friend"
He blushed and smiled. Before getting to his feet and walking out of the hospital room. She smiled and put her head back onto the pillow.
*** a few moons later ***
Rainbow Dash was finally allowed of hospital. She still couldn't fly however, but she didn't mind. She had a reasom to stay on the ground. Since Spike rarely flew.
Twilight decided to have everyone over at her castle. Rainbow Dash and Spike both thought that this would be the time they told there friends about them being a item.
Rarity was the last to arrive as usual.
"So, Spike" Twilight begun "Rarity has something she would like to say to you"
Spike and Rainbow Dash both gave each other looks before looking over at Rarity who coughed. Spike felt a pang of guilt in his stomach. Was Rarity gonna say she was in love with him.
"Spike, I know you have had a crush on me for a while, so I will take you out once. Just so you can feel happy"
"Well, it's a nice offer Rarity but I would have to decline" Spike said with a smile, then looked over at Dash who noded.
"Huh? Why is that Spike?"
Twilight asked. Spike gulped and then began speaking again. Everypony was looking at him now with confused looks.
"Because, there is somepony else in my life now"
Rarity and his friends clapped. Rainbow Dash clapped too , acting as if she didn't know who it was. "Who Spike, who is the lucky mare?" Twilight, Rarity and Starlight all asked.
Spike stood up, and since Rainbow Dash was next to Rarity and Applejack. He acted as if he was walking towards one of them. Applejack gulped, since she hoped that Spike wasn't meaning her. Everypony thought he was meaning her too, well except Rainbow Dash of course.
He sat in between Applejack and Rainbow Dash, then put a wing over the cyan pegasus who blushed hard. Everypony in the room gasped and Starlight just smiled.
"She's the pony you like?" Rarity stated dumbfounded.
"Nope, she's my mare friend"
This caused everypony in the room to gasp again. Applejack just chuckled,
"Good on you RD!"
She bro hoofed Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash bro hoofed back with a smile. Rarity just looked at the cyan mare, who was struggling to hide the fact that she was blushing.
"Aww Dashie finally got herself a colt friend!"
Pinkie Pie said jumping up and down. Rainbow Dash tensed and Spike noticed. He looked over at Rainbow with confused eyes. She scowled Pinkie Pie.
"What about Thunderlane and Soarin??"
Twilight asked.
"I was never dating them, I was actually dating some mare well some griffon else... "
All of her friends gasped since they understood. Rainbow Dash was once thought to be a filly fooler, and the truth is she kinda was. Since she had this huge thing with Gilda.
"I have changed though, and I regret ever dating her"
Spike smiled before giving his mare friend a kiss on the cheek. Which casued her to blush hard again. All of her friends giggled. Spike looked at Rainbow Dash and she looked up at him. Both of them were happy, and that was all there friends cared about.
