Autumn discovered her cutie mark because of art class and an old stallion. Her class had just learned about pottery. She was skilled in shaping the clay and liked the form, but it didn’t really feel right, she never truly felt attached to it. So she browsed the library for something similar. She found an interest in a book in Glass blowing. She visited the author's workshop on the outskirts of her town. The old stallion's name was Ember Spark. He allowed her to watch him do his work. Autumn learned that there were many tools that are used in Glass blowing. The old stallion had a phoenix named Ignis that would start the fire and assist in the making of his work. The product was a beautiful vase with the hue of many colors. She was mesmerized by the crystalline look in the designs, the colors it shown, the beauty it held. She pleaded for him to teach her his way, and after some thought, he accepted. This was when her cutie mark appeared. After 2 years, he had finally taught her everything he knew. But her heart broke when he passed away the following year. He died from smog entering his lungs and building up over the years. She found him in his open ceiling roofed melding area with one last glass item intended for her. It was a glass window, depicting his life with her. His teachings, her journey, her makings, and the good times with her. And as the moon moved into view, the moonlight shined from above. The window shimmered with light and it seemed as if the images were alive. It seemed like Ember Spark still had one secret technique he had not shared. But what surprised her even more, was that it held a second purpose, it was his Will. The window bent the moon light to form words on the floor. He had left his workshop, his property, Ignis, all he owned, to her. She couldn’t believe her eyes. To this day, Autumn Leaf holds it dearly and cherishes it deeply. She wishes to continue Ember Spark's work in Ponyville, and to share the beauty of the glass. One of the works she is most fond of is a glass replica of the “Crescent Rose”, a weapon of a cartoon show she likes. She likes how flowing the movements are and spinning the scythe is the same as her twirling her glassblowing rod to get the right shape.
