Snow Feather, the lesser known Art Restorer of Canterlot

Just Why...

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

My little excursions were put on hold; my mother dropped off some art pieces that some nobles said they were throwing out for whatever reason. I'm sure Princess Luna is aware of Mom's off-the-clock activities to help me out. That all said, I just need to ask WHY?

There are so many pointless paintovers; some are even painted over another piece that was painted over. Restoration is going to be an even bigger pain; maybe if I got some blank canvases and had a pony with experience transferring things with minimal damage from one point to another, but who could I even ask to do it while also keeping quiet about my unique situation; I don't do well with social situations...at all, too much trauma from when I was a little filly just wanting to play outside with the other fillies and colts. Looks like my annoyance is making me write some troubling things. And..."Hey, get out of here, you little; thank the night that I got it out so much faster this time around." That cat with moon symbols on it was back again, and I thankfully managed to keep it away from my diary this time around. My biggest problem is one of the works that was painted over; I would probably try contacting Princess Luna about it, but the nature of the piece mandates contacting Princess Celestia to handle this discreetly first.

Seeing the salacious art of the princesses and Nightmare Moon for a few odd reasons isn't unfamiliar to me, but it's definitely shy of being rare but a bit more than uncommon. But this piece that's covered goes well past that into a realm I really don't want to mention here, or even if I can help it. But this still means I'll be sending a note to Canterlot Castle, and we all know the princesses have both invaded my personal space already...at least they were some level of polite about it. But this thing isn't even tasteful like those; it's just not the kind of thing that can be conversed with in private by a polite company.

Sometimes, I wonder if my natural magic field is worth the hassle it gives me at times. I can tell the authenticity of every art piece I encounter, I can tell it with much greater accuracy than those so-called art appraisers; most of them just take money from rich ponies and the like with more money than sense to tell them what their client wants to hear. And... "Princess Luna, this is a pleasant surprise. Where are your guards?"

"We had them stationed all around your facilities, your state of being trustworthy has been verified for some time now. Now, what prompted you to send a message to us?"

"This way, Princess," said Snow Feather as she led her over to a set of paintings. "These pieces have far too many pieces that were painted over on them, it's a small miracle they are acting as functional as they are; we are going to require an individual with access to an appropriate spell that allows for transferring works of art to new canvases, and a few blank canvases to transfer them over to so they can be examined more thoroughly. Also, my magic has alerted me that some of the pieces painted over have you and your sister as subjects in more scandalous and unflattering positions. I felt it necessary to give you fair warning on the matter."

"Most appreciated, Ms. Snow Feather. We will require your skills and discretion when those pieces are revealed, our sister will converse with us on how to handle such materials and whom we can employ with the necessary skills for both the spellwork and discretion. We will see about returning the transplanted works back to you once the over all layers of each piece are dealt with." Princess Luna picked up all the indicated pieces in her magic, "And we will request your feedback on our investments in you profession."

"The so-called high-quality heating crystal you sent me have a much shorter shelf life the crystals I had been using before you came to be a patron of my work. Next time you wish to contribute materials, I recommend you look into how well they can actually last."

"Yes, it would wise to have all art materials utelized by various artisians; We will see about establishing an appropriate body for making quality tests that seem to have become a bit too relaxed during our sister's reign." Two of the crates of heating crystals that had been sent over to the workshop were added to the collection the midnight alicorn's magic, "your input on such matters is greatly appreciated. Although you may not be happy with such a thing, We are looking into getting you an assistant to help facility some matters. It is our hope you will at least give the m chance."

"I will give them a short trial run, so as to allow all parties get a better picture on how the arrangment is working; it is the least I can do as a show respect to you and the selected canidates."

"It is good to see you have a better sense of genuine decorum than many who claim to be among the elite in our fair Canterlot; perhaps you could even earn yourself a title."

"Most unnecessary, princess. I am merely happy plying craft and seeing my mother in a better situation than she has been previous years."

With that Princess Luna left with the items she gathered in her magic. Note to self, find a way to expedite those wards and see how well they are rated for alicorn level intrusions.

Author's Note

Once again, it's been while; I thought this could be fun chapter but it took me a few days to get things lined up right. Feel free to make use of anything you've seen here.
