Chapter 1: Birth

Gizmo Tinker Burst, Head of R&D for the M.A.S, sat at the head of the table, Behind him stood something covered in a sheet. He Adjusted his glasses and addressed the ponies around the table, Including Twilight Sparkle, Rarity ,Sweetie belle, Applejack and a few other lower ranking officials. “I thank you all taking time from your busy days” He said with a smile. It was a pain to get any ministry mare in a meeting let alone 3 of them. He inhaled before going into the speech he spent days remembering.
“Since the beginning of the war, We have been out classed by zebra spell tech. From little horn to shattered hoof, We have faced numerous losses in losing battles. With the Steel ranger power armor, we have cut the numbers, But I think we can do better” He paused and using his magic, the sheet was pulled away. Showing a suit of power armor, A horn and wings extended from it. “Ladies I give you the Mk.1 Augment Layered Combat Relay Network armor, or A.L.C.R.N. suit, With this was can turn the tides of war in our favor. Using the best technologies from the M.A.S, M.o.P, and the M.W.T. This is the next best this to sending the princesses into battle.”
They stared, Applejack Raised an eyebrow. “How is this better than what my ministry is putting out?” she asked. Gizmo Tinker gave a wide smile. “Well Miss Applejack, With all due respect to you and your ministry, You steel ranger armor are made for earth ponies. The A.L.C.R.N. can be worn by any race, and compensate. A pony in this armor can lift over 300 times his or her weight. They can also use magic, thanks to the Unicorn Magic Augment Array, or the U.M.A.A,for shot, now earth pony or pegasus can use spell only usable by unicorns before. They can fly using the Pegasus flight engine, a gem array and turbines built into the armor can negate its own mass and the mass of a pony wearing it. It has an on board AI made to assess the ponies in running the arguments. Plus an array of healing spells and repair spells, this armor can withstand a megaspell hit head on, and the pony inside can walk away just fine,”
As he finished he was met with stares, “Mr. Tinker Burst…..How did you fund this…..project?” Twilight said a little too calmly. “Well…” Gizmo Tinker said, the smile fading “I funded it myself, and used some favors from friends, Dinky Doo made the U.M.A.A., And SteamPunk helped with the armor base, Nurse Red Cross helped with the healing spells, and I personally coded the spell matrix for the whole thing and coded the AI.”
“Did Red cross or SteamPunks supervisors know of this?” Twilight said. Gizmo shook his head. “I do not know ma’am”
“Did your supervisors know Gizmo?” She said
“No ma’am, Tha-” Gizmo started to say but was cut off by twilight.
“Did you use M.A.S. facilities to build it?”
“Yes ma’am , Bu-”
“Are you aware that you three have breached contract and the broke 4 laws in doing so?”
Rarity opened her mouth to say something but Twilight stood and Stormed out, only stopping, “When I return from Maripony, I expect that armor broken down and your resignation on my desk.” She said before leaving. Gizmo fell to his hind end. Soon the board room empty leaving Gizmo alone. He stared at the armor. Years of R&D down the drain.Gizmo stood up. He opened the armor’s service hatch up, and looked at the array of Cables, In the center was an odd stone suspended in fluid. “Well that didn’t go as planned” He said to the stone, “But we are not done here not by a long shot”
He shut the hatch, and Lifted the armor up in his magic, He had hoped that Twilight wanted a Demo, and had left it at half power. He walked downstairs with it and Put it in his office on power armor hooks, and headed home.

Later that night, He came back, across his back was a custom magical energy rifle. Gizmo ran into the building, and snuck his way back to his office, he tapped his key card, it denied him. “Fucking Twilight, I hope discord and Luna tagteam your ass” He muttered out loud. He extended his magic into the card reader and door. The door chimed, and swung open. He smiled, His skill and understanding of arcane tech. had gotten him his cutie mark. He walked into the office, He did a quick once around, the A.L.C.R.N. armor was on it’s hooks with ‘scrap’ scrawled on it. Gizmo ran up and used his magic to scrubbed the words off. He walked to the tail end of the armor and pushed a hidden switch, the back opened up. He stepped inside, Sliding his horn in the slot that was there for unicorns, he felt the coolness of the nodes in the helmet, The EFS came to life. “Hello, and welcome to the Augment Layered Combat Relay Network. Software Version 0.0.12.” A filly's voice said, it sounded like a filly who had just got her cutie mark. It didn’t have the odd buzz most AI voices had. It brought a smile to gizmo’s face. “Hello Aura”
“Hi Daddy,....Is there something the matter?” The armor said as Gizmo elevated the Laser rifle into the battle saddle. “What makes you say that”
“You have a raised heart rate and you brain patterns are through the roof, you're doing something wrong, aren't you?” Aura said. Tears filled Gizmo’s eyes and the armor pressed down on him as it fitted to his body.
“I...I can’t stand to lose you...not again...not after I worked so hard to get you back” He said, Memories ran through his head, of the guards who delivered the news to him and his wife that their daughter wasn’t coming home, of the funeral as they lowered what was left of his filly’s twisted body into the ground, of his wife in the hospital after a failed suicide attempt, the feeling of rage at Celestia when she came to his house to personally apologize, the words he used at the sun princess, of the hours of research, of rewriting his wife's memories so she could be happy again. More and more, the memories swirled in his head till a voice brought him back to reality.
“I am not her” The armor said, in a mare’s voice, much older than the one that was before it. “I sorry da-...no Mr. Tinker but no magic can raise the dead, you know this,”
Gizmo straightened, something in him...broke “Either way, I will not have my work and my name tarnished, by that little purple bitch.” He said “Start program: Alicorn’s Flight”
“Understood, starting Null array-”The armor became lighter, almost levitating in it’s own spell array”-Null array online, beginning flight engines-” The wings unfolded, in the center 2 turbines unfolded, A smaller model that was used on skyships,. The turbines spun up with a low whir “Flight engines online….Warning hostiles inbound”
Gizmo brought His Magic energy rifle around to bare 2 guards rounded the corner, the skidded to a stop and brought their rifles around, the opened fire, the bullets glanced off the armor like water on a duck.
“Normal bullet? Covered that, sub-level shield array” Gizmo said, Firing off his rifle, “The light from the magic in my rifle is split using a crystal to reflect a rainbow, a 7 laser rainbow canon, because of the crystal, the gun was meant to interface with a EFS”
One guard jumped around the corner but the laser followed him, both guards were turned to ash as the laser ripped them apart atom by atom “Meaning it can bend light around corners….Set a course for Maripony” He said, almost giggling. The wings whirred louder as the armor lifted off the ground. Gizmo punched it through a wall next to a window. The EFS pointed him east, he zipped off. “ETA. 5 hours” the armor chimed. As Gizmo flew, the sun begin to rise, He used his EFS to navigate....tell 2 unwanted Pegasi started to pursue him. They started to hail him on a radio channel. He stopped mid air and open his radio. “Unidentified power armor, please leave this air space or you will be shot down” a voice said. Gizmo looked around. He thought he was just over a forest, but now he could see the city of cloudsdale. “Ah, Yes...well...you see…..”
He brought His rifle around when his EFS chimed. “Large object approaching at speed of 3430 m/s,” The armor said. Gizmo didn’t turn to see it, he pushed the armor as fast it could go. Suddenly the armor stopped, “THE HELL GET US OUT OF HERE!!” He yelled
“I sorry Gizmo, I can’t do that, I ran an evaluation just now.You are unfit to use this unite” The armor said, EFS flashed ‘Ejection activated’ Gizmo reached into the armor to stop it posses, the hatch opened and the suit convulsed flinging him out “Good bye….father” the suit said before shunting down, Gizmo turned the Pegasi were watch as a large missile passed through the city before hitting something and engulfing it in green fire. A scream left his lungs as the fire engulfed him.
