Sunset shimmer boots up her amusphere. She puts her recently bought game inside the rig, and puts the headset on. The game starts, and she is immediately greeted by a menu. The menu read "Which time period do you want to live in? Other options coming soon", and the options were the Permian, the Triassic, the Jurassic or the Cretaceous periods. Sunset quickly pulled up her friends list menu, and selected five different usernames. There was a dial tone that rang for about 30 seconds, before a familiar voice answered.
"Yo." A rough female voice said.
"Hey Rainbow. You in yet?" Sunset asked.
"Uh, yeah. I was just wait for everyone else to get in." She said. Just as she said that, everyone else joined the call.
"Hello~o." Rarity sang.
"Yello." Applejack said in her southern drawl.
"Hello!" Pinkie pie said enthusiastically.
"Um, H-Hello." Fluttershy said timidly.
"Hey girls, are you all in?" Sunset asked.
"Why yes we are darling." Rarity responded, Followed by everyone else's confirmation.
"good. Do you all see the option for the Jurassic period?" Sunset asked.
"Yeah." Applejack said.
"I think we'll go with that one." Sunset said, hovering her finger over the button.
"Alright darling. Oh, But selecting an option will end the call, so we'll simply have to meet up on the other side." Rarity said. Sunset sighed.
"Alright, i'll talk to you in a bit." Sunset said. The girls all gave their simultaneous goodbyes and ended the call. Sunset pressed the Jurassic period option and another menu popped up. It was a menu displaying all of the species in the game. The models were in a never ending walk cycle, and they were able to be looked at from different angles with a simple rotation of the camera. Sunset flicked through each of the species, trying to find one she liked.
"Brachiosaurus... Nah, too big. Diplodocus... Too slow. Dryosaurus... Too small and fragile. Ah!" She said excitedly. "This one looks good! Allosaurus Fragilis, that's an interesting name. Let's see it's stats here." She clicked the specimen and an information window popped up. "Let's see. Allosaurus Fragilis, a 8.7 meter long carnivore from the Jurassic period. Allosaurus was a fast, agile, and aggressive predator that lived a dangerous life, and more often than not, died young." She read allowed. Sunset smiled at the prospect. Finally, some adventure was entering her life.
She selected the animal in question, and the game loaded her in. At first she was meet by a black screen. Suddenly, some white, glowing text appeared in front of her. It read "You're starting out as an infant, just recently hatched from your egg." the screen then fades into a first person shot from within an underground nest. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake around Sunset and her "Siblings". Suddenly, a big hole in the roof of the nest opens up, and a fully grown Allosaurus comes into view. Another bar of white text appears before Sunset. "This is your mother. She will watch over you for six weeks. After that, her maternal instincts will wear off, and she will view you as food, just like the other Allosaurs'."
Sunset took her first steps out of the nest as her new avatar. her weight displacement being different than a human's, She needed to take a few moments to try and figure out how to stand. She took a few steps toward her mother, but stopped to glance around. She was in an ancient conifer forest, thick with ferns and cycads along the forest floor. She noticed a faint thudding noise coming from the forest. It was fast paced, and growing louder. Out in the distance, Sunset saw a large Allosaurus approaching quickly. As it grew closer, she realised that the other Allosaurus was larger than her mother. Sunset quickly ran into some bushes, where one of her siblings was also hiding, and kept low.
"Don't move and keep quiet. if we stay here, we might not be found." Sunset said quietly to her sibling.
"Sunset? Is that you?" A familiar voice whispered back.
"Dash? Oh thank god, I don't think our mother is going to make it out of this. We'll be on our own, so we should stick together." Sunset said.
"Got it." Dash said quietly. They watched as their mother was knocked to the ground, and the larger Allosaurus shook her by the throat. Her body flailed around violently, trying to break free of the others grasp. With one violent twist, a loud crack came from their mother's neck, and the other Allosaurus let go, and looked dead at Sunset and Dash. "Uh, I think we should run." The other Allosaurus growled at them.
"Yep, run!" Sunset said. They both took off deeper into the forest, and the other Allosaur gave chase. Sunset and Dash dodged and weaved tree branches, roots, and logs to try and slow the other Allosaur down. As they rounded a tree trunk, they encountered yet another large Allosaurus. This one was larger than the last. "Crap baskets." The Allosaurus following them came up from behind, and froze when he saw the larger individual. The larger individual took a deep breath, and roared at the smaller Allosaurus. He completely ignored Sunset and Dash, and drove off their attacker. As the smaller Allosaur ran off, the giant snorted and began to walk off. Sunset caught a glimpse of his left eye as he walked away. He had three large scars passing over the eyelid, almost as if he'd been scratched, yet the eyeball was perfectly intact. The scarred eye locked with Sunset's for a brief moment, but he kept on walking as if they weren't there at all.
"What do we do now?" Dash asked.
"Well, I think we should follow him to learn how to survive... From a distance though." Sunset said.
"Alright, if you say so." Dash said.
