OoO

The beat of the music pounded at the back of my head, my hoof tapped to the beat of the music as it blasted out of the gigantic speakers on either side of me. I looked up from my mix table and saw ponies of different backgrounds milling about the main floor of the convention centre. I wasn't super enthusiastic on the idea of performing at a banquet for the Classical Music Ponies of Equestria. I don't think the ponies enjoyed my taste of music, because to most of them I was just background noise for the unrelated conversations they were having.

The one thing I did enjoy was the size of this convention centre, Manehatten really outdid themselves. On the other side of the convention center there was a giant glass wall where everypony came in. The floor of the convention centre was filled with tables with white sheets draped over them. That is where most of the ponies were during my performence, which kinda bummed me out.

The clock struck midnight and the convention was coming to a close. And before I knew it I was outside in the snow. I opened the truck of my car and started loading my equipment into the back. I heard hoofsteps in the snow behind me, it probably is just someone walking by. I continued to pack stuff into the car. The crunching in the snow stopped right behind me and I heard a faint cough. I turned around and found a white mare standing there, her blue mane pulled back into a ponytail that draped over her left shoulder. She had a white dress on and it fluttered in the faint wind of the night. She spoke,

"That was some performence out there."

"Oh! Thanks!" I said as I closed the back of my car.

"I didn't really think anypony would actually like it considering it was a convention for classical music." I continued,

"Well, at least you weren't dragged here by your roommate." she said as she kicked at the snow,

"That was the most boring thing i've ever been to in my life! But luckily you came, if I had to hear one more classic music piece i would have screamed." we both laughed as light snow started falling from the sky,

"So you like EDM?" I asked,

"Totally! Im a performer like you actually." she said,

"Really? Whats your stage name?" she used her magic to remove some objects from her handbag. She fumbled around with them for a bit and turned back to me revealing two beautiful red eyes. No way.

"Wait. Your DJPON3?' I asked intently,

"The one and only." she said rising her chin a bit,

"Oh my gosh! You are like my idol! You got me into music in the first place. This is crazy, I cant believe im actually talking to you." I started pacing around in a fit of excitement. She held a hoof to her mouth and laughed,

"I would love to stay and chat but its pretty cold out here in this dress and if I stay out here any longer my roommate is going to leave me here. It was really nice meeting a fellow musician. See ya!" she started to walk away when a idea popped into my head, it was crazy but worth a shot. I ran after her,

"Hey! Wait up!" I caught up to her and she turned around,

"Yeah? hat is it?" She had already taken off her contacts leaving baby blue eyes in the blood red ones place.

"You want to go grab something to drink tonight? I know its late and your probably busy, but I might as well ask." she thought for a second than spoke.

"Yeah! That would be cool! But first I need to get out of this dress. You know what..." she reached into her handbag and took out a small piece of paper and scribbled something on it, then handed it to me.

"Thats the address to my building. Pick me up around 12:30." She smiled, then turned to walk away, brushing the tip of her tail against my muzzle. I stood there with the paper clasped in my magic. I watched her until she was out of sight than started jumping around like a little mare who just got the best present in the world.

I danced my way back to the car and got in. I pulled out of the parking lot and into the snowy streets of Manehatten.

OoO

I thought about her all the way back to my hotel, her face burned into my mind like the branding on a cow. I couldn't get her out of my head.

I made it back to my room and flopped face first onto the bed, sighed, then rolled onto my back. I pulled out my phone and hovered it in front of my face. The time read 12:15 pm. I turned off the phone and got up. I went over to my laptop sitting on the desk and i looked up her address. The building looked beautiful even from the outside with marble walls and huge reflecting windows. I calculated the time it would take to get there from my hotel, if I were to make it in time i would have to leave like right now.

I got out of my suit and put on just a normal sweatshirt, I hung my purple headphones around my neck and grabbed my keys. I walked into the hallway and down to my car. The drive took a little less time then i thought it would so I made it there with a few minutes to spare. I walked inside and approached the desk. There was a mare sitting there tapping away at her computer, she had red hair and greyish fur. When I got closer she looked up reavealing two red eyes like DJPON3's.

"May I help you sir?" she asked in a chirpy voice,

"Yes, do you know what floor DJPON3 is on? She should be expecting me." the lady looked at me funny then a sudden wave of realization swept over her face.

"OH! yes I do but according to the rules of this building I need to ring her up first." she reached over to a landline on the desk and picked it up. She dialed a few numbers and put the phone to her ear, there was a short pause and then she spoke,

"DJPON? Yes, there is a gentleman here who says he's-" she cut off and covered the bottom end of the phone,

"Why are you here?" she wispered to me,

"Im picking her up for dinner." I said,

"And what is your name?" she asked, still covering the phone,

"N- zero- three- zero." she looked at me as if I was crazy than went back to the phone,

" He says his name is N030 and he's here to pick you up for dinner... yes... ok ill send him up." she hung up the phone and turned to me,

"The elevator is over to your left, DJPON is in the suite on the top floor." She turned back to her computer and started typing away,

"Thank you!" I said then I made my way over to the elevator.

I walked in the spaceous elevator and looked at the buttons that lined the wall to the left of the elevator door. The numbers went from 1 to 50 so pushed the 50 button and it turned a hazy yellow and the door to the elevator shut. I felt the elevator start to move up at a pretty fast pace.

When the doors opened I was welcomed by a long hallway that ended with a door. I walked down the hallway and approched the door. I knocked on the door 3 times, stepped back and waited. I heard hoofsteps inside and I heard a lock click and the door opened, I was greeted by a grey mare with black hair and a purple bow tie.

"Oh! Hello, you must be Vinyls friend." she said with a strong British accent,

"Yep, thats me." i said,

"Well come inside and make yourself at home she'll be out in a minute."

I walked into the gigantic condo, there was music parifinalia covering almost all the walls in the room. In the middle of the room was three white couches in front of a gigantic TV. The grey pony spoke again,

"Im Octavia by the way." she held out her hoof and I shook it,

"Im N030, but you can just call me Jordan." we stopped the hoofshake and she motioned to the couches,

"Here take a seat while you wait, do you need something to drink?" she asked walking into the kitchen,

"No ill be fine." I responded still looking at all the stuff that lined the walls.

After about 3 minutes I heard a door down the hallway open and shut and hoofsteps come down the hallway, and a reconizable voice spoke,

"Well it looks like we have the same sense of fashion." I turned around on the couch and saw her standing there. All she was waering was a black hoodie with her blue headphones around her neck.

"Ha Ha! Yeah I guess we do." I said as I stood up,

"Alright where are we off to?" i asked as she stepped further into the room.

"I got a place in mind." she said with a smile. She made her way to the door,

"Shall we go?" she said sarcasticly,

"We shall." I was about to walk out the door when I felt a hoof on my shoulder, I turned to face Octavia.

"Don't let her drink too much, she has a low tolerance." she said with a smile and then pushed me out the door,

"DON'T STAY OUT TOO LATE!!!" she yelled after us than the door slammed shut leaving us in the hallway.

"Well, lets go." I lead the way to my car and we got in. She gave me directions to a place not to far away. The resturant was called "Equestrian Dreams" she said the bar never closes so we can get drinks and stuff. we walked in and took a seat on the bar chairs and ordered some drinks and began to talk.

"So what got you into music?" she asked,

"Well, I've listened to music pretty much my whole life, but my friends brought me to one of your concerts and I thought making music would be fun. In other words you got me into music." I pointed my drink at her then took a sip,

"Wow, thanks cool, I've never really talked to a pony who was inspired by my music before." she picked up her drink and took a sip then continued,

"Did you ever think you were going to make it big?" she asked intently,

"Oh god no, I thought it would be fun to play around with, not something I would make a living off of. My first performence was actually at my high schools prom, I got the crowd really wild and was picked up by an agent who saw a video of that night posted online and boom! hired." I continued,

"How"d you start?" I asked,

"Well, I went to a concert once and one of the artists was a DJ, watching him play was like watching a shining star. It moved me so much that I got my cutie mark," she positioned herself so I had a good view of her cutie mark,

"As soon as I could, I started messing around with music and became really good."

"Have you ever tried to hook up with other DJs like yourself?" I know that question was out of the blue, but it kinda popped into my head,

"Well I used to hand out with Neon Lights a lot, but that never became a relationship, the only relationship I have at the moment is with my roommate Octavia."

"Oh yeah! I was meaning to ask you that, where did you and Octavia meet?"

"Well it was at one of her music recitals actually, I had gone to watch because my agent thought it would be "inspiring" then I got to meet her after the show and we really hit it off, and sooner or later became roommates." she took a swig from her drink then continued,

"I heard your staying in a hotel, where do you actually live?" she asked,

"Well I was raised in Cloudsdale, and its were I grew up. I have a house there but I spend so much time in the cities I almost never get around to heading back."

"I've always lived in Manehatten, something about the busy streets and sounds makes me feel at home."

"Yeah, there is something about the cities that is oddly comforting." I listened for a bit and heard distant honking and general city noise, its something you need to get used to before you try it full time.

"Do you have family back in Cloudsdale?" I looked to the bottom of my glass and stayed silent,

"Oh. If you don't want to talk about it it's fine, you don't have to answer."

"No. It's ok, I actually think it would help to get something like this off my chest." I downed the rest of my drink and continued,

"I was 15 at the time, my parents both worked at the cloud factory," I stopped and tried my best to make it through,

"There was an accident one day in the watering room, they were filling a cloud with rainwater and one of the pipes broke. Since the water comes from the ground all the watering rooms are below regular cloud level. The room was quickly filled with rainwater trapping my parents and seven others inside. I was put into foster care with my two brothers who are both younger than me. A nice pegasus couple picked me up and took me to the other side of Cloudsdale, the only problem being I haven't seen my brothers since." At this point tears started trickling down my face and onto the bar counter. I quickly wiped them away and asked for another drink, I was about to down that one but a hoof stopped me from doing so. I looked up and saw her big blue eyes stare into mine,

"Hey, I've never had to comfort a stallion before, please don't be the first." I looked back at her and nodded, setting my glass on the counter.

"How bout I show you something," We left the bar and walked a few blocks down the road, we came to what looked to be a apartment building. We walked inside and got in the elevator but before we got off she covered my eyes,

"What are you doing?" I asked,

"Well I want it to be a surprize, I only take a few ponies here and- just keep your eyes closed!" I heard the door to the elevator open and she lead me out by my hoof. We walked a way down a carpeted hallway. She stopped and I heard a door open, I was immedelty hit with a blast of cold air from the winter night. We walked on snow for a bit then stopped.

"Alright we're here! You can open your eyes." I opened my eyes and the first thing I realized was that we were somewhere up high, I walked to the edge of the building and looked over the snow covered city still glowing in the early morning, the view was amazing, you could see everything from here. It was even more amazing because everything was covered in snow.

"Isn't this cool!" she yelled closing her eyes and tilting her head to the sky, letting the cold breeze run through her silky blue hair. She opened her eyes and looked over to me staring at her. I quickly looked away and I heard her laugh,

"So? Are you looking at the view or are you looking at me?"

"Well, a little of both." Her fur was reflecting the light of the moon, she was radiating with beauty. She jumped onto the edge and sat down and hung her hind legs over the side. She motioned me to come over,

"Come on! Don't tell me your afraid of heights."

"Not at all." I walked over and sat on the edge right next to her, close enough to be kept warm by each others body heat. She sighed and spoke,

"This was a good night." We turned and faced each other and I spoke,

"Well, I can make it better." I leaned in closer and kissed her, everything around me exploded as I melted into her warmth, her lips were like pillows even in the cold night. I pulled away after a good few seconds and opened my eyes, we locked gazes for a few moments.

"So, did that make the night better?" she smiled and laughed,

"Maybe we can make it a little better." she grabbed my muzzle and pulled me in for another kiss.

OoO

We made it back to her apartment building at about 3 am. We pulled up and I walked her to the front entrence and we turned to face each other.

"Sorry I got you home so late."

"Nah, it's ok I've been out later, besides the night is still young." she said with a smile,

"It was a really fun night," she pulled out piece of paper and handed to me,

"Maybe we can do it again." She pulled me in for another kiss, this one was a lot more passionate,

"And one other thing, call me Vinyl." she turned and trotted into the building leaving me in the cold. I looked down at the piece of paper and smiled. Maybe playing at that convention wasn't such a bad thing.
