Midnight's Memoirs

          April 20th

          Wednesday 9:12 AM

Okay, so I’m writing this as mom is giving me the tour of the school and I just have to say, IT’S EVEN BIGGER ON THE INSIDE! Mom showed me the entrance and how it connects to the beach; then she showed me several of the classrooms which seemed to resemble college classrooms that mom has told me about before. Afterwards, she directed me to the cafeteria; the dueling arena; the medical wing; and, get this, the school also has a spa and pools! I’m not sure if this is a school or a learning paradise! But that’s not all, mom just brought me to possibly my favorite room in all of the school: the library. Call me an egghead if you want, but knowledge is power, especially when the knowledge I’m learning will help me advance in my studies.

          Anyway, mom opens a set of doors and what do I see? Words can not even begin to describe it…..it was just beautiful. Am……am I crying? Before me are rows upon rows, shelves upon shelves of wondrous knowledge. The library seems to be endless, well at least for me it is, I’m just a filly after all. I asked mom where all the books came from and it turns out that Princess Celestia donated some from the library in Canterlot as well as several from her and Princess Luna’s old castle. Mom was always curious about what would happen to some of those books, that castle hasn’t been occupied since the banishment of Nightmare Moon.

          So, to top off my amazing tour with mom, she let me pick 5 books from the library. Any 5 that I want! Of course, I’ll have to return them, but still, I now have some fresh study material. Who is the author you might ask? None other than Starswirl The Bearded of course! Well….2 of the five are Starswirl, the other 3 are by A.K. Yearling. Some books called….Daring Do. Not too sure what their about, but the books seem like their jam packed with adventure, after all, Daring is practically my middle name………actually, it’s Allister but don’t tell anypony. Okay? Okay.

Holy sweet merciful Celestia! You’ll never guess who came to visit mom! Can you guess? Of course you can’t, I know the answer though! Princess Celestia. Princess. Celestia. Herself! She came to visit mom and see how she was doing. When she arrived, mom told me to bow my head to show respect, but I already knew that. I once read a book on proper etiquette and manners and ‘how to condone oneself amongst the company of royalty’. I think one thing I didn’t count on were all the guards that came with her, I mean seriously there had to be at least 15 or so guards that followed behind her. I should’ve expected as much though, I mean, she is a Princess after all.

          So after the greetings were done, Princess Celestia and my mom began chatting up together about how each of them has been, ya know, the usual its-been-a-long-time-how-are-you chat kind of chatting. While they were talking about whatever it was they were talking about, I was approached by one of Princess Celestia’s guards who I soon began talking to. He said that his name was Shining Armor and that he was the captain of the Royal Guard. He was really nice, he told me how he has a little sister about my age back home, he says she’s really into books too and that we’re kinda alike. I noticed Shining Armor’s cutie mark and asked him about it.

          Apparently, his special talent has to do with barrier spells. I asked him if he’d be willing to teach me but he said I’m still a bit too young. Shining Armor eventually had to return to the Princess’s side because he was still on duty, I told him I understand. Then mom hit me with a huuuuge surprise, Princess Celestia was going to be staying for dinner! That means I have to make not only enough food for me and mom, but this time for Princess Celestia; Mr. Shining Armor; and all the other Royal Guards. On one hoof, that’s a ton of food, but on the other, I get to show Princess Celestia how good I am with magic. Challenge accepted.

Princess Celestia was surprised when she found out that I was the one who prepared all the food for everypony tonight. She said that I have exceptional magic control for a pony of my age. Then she told me about a school she has in Canterlot for gifted unicorns. I asked mom if I could go, but she said that we can’t move because she’s going to be the school’s principal. Princess Celestia told me that it wasn’t going to be all bad, she said that if I continue on the path I’m on, I’ll be an amazing wizard in no time. I asked her if she would be willing to teach me like she did mom, to which she stated “Perhaps when your older, our fates shall become intertwined”. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m chalking it up to a ‘yes’.

          After dinner, Shining Armor and the rest of the guards thanked me for a delicious dinner and me and mom saw Princess Celestia off back to Canterlot. All and all, I think I made a good first impression, at least I think it was our first meeting. Princess Celestia seemed as though she had met me before, but I don’t remember meeting her. Meh, whatever. Mom said she was proud of me for how I “conducted myself with such wonderful manners”. Today was a good day but…….I’m getting tired. Goodnight.
