I brought my journal with me outside home today, right now I’m in Tenebris’s cave. He seemed a bit annoyed when I first got here, but he kinda got over it, I think. I’ve been talking with him, well, I’ve been talking more than him, he’s just been listening; even then I’m not sure if he’s doing that. I told him how mom stays busy at the academy and how I can’t visit that often because there’s never a moment when she isn’t working. Even the days when she does come home she usually brings stacks of paperwork with her. Almost all of my lessons are done solely by me with no supervision, no support, I don’t really get the sense of gratification I used to when I master a spell.

I guess Tenebris was listening because he offered me some advice….I think that’s what it was. He said that I should embrace this new life of solidarity that I have found and to just keep training so that I can enroll in Arcane Academy, then, I’ll be able to spend time with mother the way I used to. His words kinda made me feel a bit better, so now I’m going to stand by them. I’m going to work my flank off and then when I get older I’ll enter the academy and show mom how much I’ve learned without her. I’ll show her! From this day forth, I Midnight Allister Star, swear to focus on nothing but improving my magical capacity; which means, I’ll be putting this journal away for a while. A long while. Maybe I’ll hide it and see if my future self can find it.
