Prologue: The Birth of a Pegasus
It was a beautiful day in the big area of Salt Lick City. The usual hum drum of ponies on the streets trotting to work, and taking there young ones to school filled the streets. Above in the apartment, Sentiment Crossing lay in bed peacefully, rubbing her belly which was bulging and she felt the twinges of the new little colt insider her. The feeling made her relaxed. The baby was due any day now. The father, which had left her shortly after the pregnancy and divorced her, had left to Fillydeplhia for something that was not mentioned by him.
She decided to get up and go to the fridge and get something to eat, but as she approached the fridge, a sudden twinge and spasm of pain shot through her body as she fell to the floor. The baby was coming. Without hesitation she called one of her closest midwife pony friends to come over, Emerald Leaf. Within five minutes she arrived and opened the door to find her best friend on the floor breathing hard.
"Alright now Ms. Crossing, easy and gentle breaths, don't stress, easy now." Emerald said.
"It hurts so bad! Gah!" Sentiment Crossing said, more intensely.
"I know sweetie, but just relax and hold this teddy bear here." She slid the teddy bear over and she squeezed it hard.
"Alright now just easy and gentle pushes, don't be too forceful."
The struggling pain kept shooting strong spasms of pain throughout the birth of the baby. Sentiment was in tears.
"Alright, just a couple more pushes now... Almost there."
Sentiment, pushed as hard as she could while trying to control her breathing, which was so rapid at this point it was almost impossible to breathe easily and relaxed.
"Alright there we go, congratulations darling, it's a young Pegasus boy!" Emerald Leaf wrapped the little young baby colt up, who was crying in a warm light blue blanket. She gently passed him to the mother, who was sweating but had a smile upon her face. The baby was a brown color, with gray gradients on his hoofs like socks, and on his snout. His eyes were a rich deep blue cobalt blue, and his mane and tail were, the same blue, with a deep ruby red.
The baby continued to cry as Emerald rushed to get a warm bottle of milk.
"Shh... Shh... it's okay my little Heart Gram. It's okay little one." The mother peacefully said to the little colt who immediately calmed down and fell asleep against her chest. "You are safe my beauty."
Emerald came around and hoofed over the bottle of milk.
"He is a cute little one for sure, and what a beautiful name for him. Heart Gram." Emerald smiled at the little colt sleeping peacefully against his mother's chest.
"Yeah he is...." She yawned and Emerald, made a pillow and blanket and bed appear in the living room and as the mother slept with the child, lifted her up on the bed and wrapped both of them tightly in the blankets.
"Sleep well friend and beautiful little child." And she dimmed the lights and brought out a book and watched over both of them as they slept.
