These were the thoughts that plagued the Dragon Lord’s mind as she scanned the skies around her mountain turned throne. Below her, the dragons that were her subjects were busy celebrating together with some ponies as well by enjoying a rather large feast as well as dancing with one another. The celebration was to commemorate Ember’s fifthteenth year of rule as Dragon Lord. It was truly a sight nopony or dragon would expect to see fifteen years ago before Ember became Dragon Lord. But ever since she gained the scepter, the influence from her first true friend caused her to work on changing the ways of the dragons.
Over the years, she worked on improving not only their relations with other races and nations, but also how dragons viewed each other and their lives. No longer was there hateful words or ill spoken wishes towards ponies and other races once considered weak by dragon standards. Their culture became a big influence with the changes Ember began with her rule, later resulting with Dragon Lord Mountain turning into a city for Dragons and other creatures. Over the past years, with the help of the ponies, the mountain and the rocky plane around it was turned into a bustling city. The architectural design was somewhat strange yet fitting for the dragons.
The original mountain that served as a throne with its exterior, was turned into the personal home of the current Dragon Lord on the inside. Spreading around the rocky plain surrounding the main mountain were various other mountains, smaller in size and created with the help of magic from the ponies. All magical mountains were excavated and hallowed to have countless caves to be furnished by their new dragon owners. There were also special pipes created that went deep underground to the dormant lava pool beneath the city, allowing its heat to rise to the insides of the homes above.
That was not the only change that developed over the years. Various areas around the city also had countless kinds of plant life with different little critters running about. These parks were a gift from the Earth Ponies, who miraculously turned parts of the rocky plain into suitable soil for even the most delicate of plant life. These parks were kept flourishing by the team of weather ponies that volunteered to live within the city. Many of those Pegasi had become good friends of Ember’s, mainly due to their connection with one of her other friends known as Rainbow Dash.
She sighed again as she remembered the reason she met that pegasus in the first place, or rather who introduced her. The same dragon that should be at the celebration with her right now…

Ember returned her gaze to the celebrating crowd below, watching as the dragons and ponies alike enjoyed each other’s company in the city square. Her eyes focused on a particular couple, a young drake and mare, holding each other tightly at a table. The mare’s head was nuzzling the crook of the drake’s neck. A more common sight since Ember became Dragon Lord. Such couples were free to publicly show their affection.
However, such affection only worked at making her feel even worse than she had before, reminding her again of a certain missing drake. With a hrumph of annoyance, Ember made her decision. “If he can’t send word of why he’s late, then I’ll make him explain it himself!” As she finished speaking, she raised her scepter. And as she did so, it began to give of a powerful glow before dissipating. As the glow finally ceased, she lowered her scepter to the ground again, a small smile displayed on her face. Now, we wait…

“Yak’s look forward to trading with dragons.” The loud and boisterous voice spoke. “Yak’s love beautiful gems dragons have, and know they will think the same of Yakistanian furs.” As the Yak finished speaking, the drake in front of him gave a deep bow.
“We look forward to receiving true Yakistanian furs, Prince Rutherford.” As the drake stood from his bow, he began to give off a strong shine from his scales.
“Why dragon glowing?” The Yak prince stared curiously at the drake, lost as to why he gave off a bright glow.
As the shocked drake realized what was happening, he bowed again to the Yakistanian prince. “I apologize, Prince Rutherford. It appears my Lord calls for my presence.”
The Yakistanian Prince nodded his head in understanding, waving a hoof to give the drake leave. “Yak’s understand. Have safe journey home ambassador dragon.”
“Thank you, Prince Rutherford, till we meet again.” And with a final bow, the dragon left the throne room and began the long journey back to the dragon lands…

Ember was at a stone desk within her private chambers in Dragon Lord Mountain, diligently writing a message for Princess Celestia. They were coming up on the expiration of their trade agreement, and plans had to be made for its renewment. The celebrations had ended as the moon rose into the sky. Letting out a sigh, Ember returned the gesture by laying her own claws atop his own. “You remember why today is so important, right Spike?” She turned her head and gazed into the emerald eyes that had captured her heart so many years ago.
Spike smiled as Ember looked up to him, remembering why this day was so important to the two of them. “Of course I do, Ember. And you know I’ll never forget.” Lowering his head, he planted a quick kiss on her forehead.
With a smile, she placed her head into the crook of his neck, relishing in the intimate contact of the moment. Letting out a breath, she didn’t know she was holding, Ember realized a weight was lifted from her shoulders she didn’t even know was there. “Sorry for using the Call Of The Dragon Lord on you… I was just really worried about you.”
