//-------------------------------------------------------// Destinies of past -by Onaya- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// One shot //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Hello, A little author's note here. Okay, before reading this story, I'm not an expert in english (Have only taking english classes for two years) and therefor is this story not with perfect english - sorry Another note is that the names used in this have a few meaning. Ild Skjold: danish words for Fire (Ild) and Shield (Skjold) also the d in both Ild and Skjold something there isn't available to hear so it's said Il Skjol. Bhaal: means magic or death - tho I can't remember what language. Liv: is both a danish name and a word. It does mean Life. It can mean alive as well but are most used for the word Life. *This story have been edited by my friend from 19th May 2016. One shot It was a blizzardy night when a little foal came to the world. Everypony had waited for so long on the little foal to be born. It’s mother - Queen Liv - was an alicorn of life and its father was well respected as a warrior and guard. The round world had been waiting on the little foal because its mother always had been an alicorn herself. Queen Liv was Queen over a northern country there was nothing like Equestria. This northern country was cold and filled with mountains everywhere. There was hardly growing anything else than trees and bushes. Most ponies here were working in the mountains or had something to do with a mountain. There was 9 months of winter and 3 months of spring and fall. In the 3 months Queen Liv had been in charge the Harvest arrived much faster. She could control life and speed it up if she wanted but she only wanted to use her powers for good. She would never use her magic to speed a pony’s life up. She only did that when a pony was out of reach of medical help and couldn’t do anything because they were too sick. If a pony was in pain did she do her best to end their life if said pony accepted this choice and everyone understood that but for now was she going to give life to a new pony. This wasn’t the first time Queen Liv had given birth to a foal. Her son and oldest offspring was known as Prince Bhaal Alicorn of Death. Prince Bhaal wanted to rule the country. He was tired of everypony hating him just because his job was to take life. He was the grim reaper. A pony so feared because no pony wanted to die when they needed to. They just wanted to live. Prince Bhaal hated his job as alicorn and the anger had built up inside him. He had evil inside his heart and with that he was labeled the enemy of the country. A new alicorn would enrage him with the knowledge of having a rival to the throne. This little newborn alicorn was going to die no matter what it would cost him. A loud bang of two doors flying open resounded in the room and in there a sleeping foal, whose mother had recently sung a lullaby for it, woke up and began crying. Her unpredictable alicorn magic made a chaos in the room but at least she never left her crib which made it much easier for Queen Liv to calm the little foal down again but it was still sad. It could feel the fear and the anger. It could feel all the bad things around it. It was scared but Queen Liv sang shortly for it again and it quickly returned to a peaceful slumber. “My Queen! Prince Bhaal is here!” A male unicorn said. This unicorn was the Commander of the royal guard in this country. He was powerful and would stop at nothing to defend his country. Ild Skjold. A light brown unicorn with dark brown mane and tail. He even had a little beard. He was dressed in his armor and stood with a serious expression. Ild Skjold went over to Queen Liv and looked into her eyes. He was a little bit lower than her but she was also an Alicorn. Alicorn often became taller than a standard pony when they had been alicorn from either birth or childhood. Queen Liv looked to her little foal and then back to Ild Skjold. She trusted her guard more than any other pony. He was the only right pony to protect their daughter. She loved him but she also loved Bhaal because she believed he would never truly harm her. At least he got loved by someone. “I’ll use my magic to change my daughter’s life and place it in your hooves. It’s your job to get her to safety. Let never Bhaal get her… okay?” Queen Liv said worried and pointed her horn at her sleeping foal. With a flash the foal no longer had its horn and wings. It was safer this way. She should live as an earthpony hidden away untill the time was right to fight against Prince Bhaal. Liv knew how this night would go. Ild Skjold took the foal up and ran over to the door. He had tears in his eyes as he left his Queen but he would rather listen to her orders than letting them all die to the magic of Bhaal. Bhaal had become evil from the hatred other ponies had shown him. His heart had been broken and couldn’t be fixed again. That's what Ild Skjold heard at least. Ild Skjold ran down the hallways and into a room to remove his armor and put on a foalbelt so he could carry the foal around easily on his chest. After that he put a cloak on to protect him against the cold outside. He put his daughter into the foalbelt and then continued his way out of the room and down of the hallways to the main entrance but it was already too late. Prince Bhaal was there and he was fully dressed in his own armor. He even had ponies behind him. Other alicorns, Not like Celestia and Luna from Canterlot but ones whose parents are unicorn and a Pegasi. Those types of alicorns are not as powerful as the average unicorn but at least they could use magic and fly. Ild Skjold wasn't sure how he could get past those guys but he needed to even if it would mean to fight with his life. As long as he could get the little newborn princess away then everything would be fine. His daughter was the most important thing right now and one day he knew she would discover her alicorn form when she was ready but for now, she did not need to know this. No one needed to know it. “MOVE AWAY!” Ild Skjold yelled loudly and ran directly into the group of alicorns. They all fell before his fire magic. Some moved away because they didn’t want to get burned by the intense fire, but Bhaal had closed the door with his magic leaving Ild Skjold no choice but to fight. Bhaal quickly cast a large black death spell towards Ild Skjold but he blocked it with all the power he had. He was a shield of fire and so was his strong magic. He was going to protect his daughter with all his will and strength. “How could you block my attack?!” Prince Bhaal said frustrated. He thought he just could kill everypony in his way but one pony had actually been able to defend himself. Ild Skjold quickly used his magic to open the door, while Prince Bhaal had trouble seeing due to the fire magic he had stared at for a while. Galloping at full speed to get away and out into the cold blizzard was priority for Ild Skjold. He had to do anything to save his daughter. Prince Bhaal threw a little death spell in confusion and did hit one of Ild Skjold's back hooves. Prince Bhaal was sure from now that Ild Skjold would die in the cold blizzard and with that so would his little sister. Ild Skjold galloped in as fast as he could through the city where everypony was inside in their warm homes. The snow laid thick on the ground and snowy cold winds were constantly blowing at Ild Skjold but it did not stop him from getting away from Bhaal to rescue his daughter. After some time galloping he took a quick break to check on his daughter to make sure she wasn't freezing. Instead of letting himself be warm he used his magic to keep her warm and began galloping again. He didn’t keep track of the time. He just knew it was night and the howling wereponies didn’t help him. They could hurt him if they wanted to. They could kill him. He was so weak and The cold. The spell he focused on to keep his daughter warm made him weaker. He walked very slowly through the snow ready to collapse at any second but it didn’t stop him. His daughter needed him to rescue her. He walked steady on through the thick snow and eventually to a point where he could see a house. He tried to walk faster, but he was done. He was cold and even his magic had begun to go weak. At this rate his daughter would soon freeze to death if he didn’t make it to the house. None of them should die but Ild Skjold couldn’t go on any longer and fell tired down to the ground. The snow stood up in a cloud around them and fell down around. It was cold and he had failed. He couldn’t make it to the house. It was way too cold and he was way too tired. A young werepony maybe about 13 years old, ran through the snow. The darkness transformed him into his wolf-like form which kept him from freezing in these cold temperatures. He stood on the snowy hill, watching Ild Skjold faint in the cold and went down out of curiosity. Normally a werepony would not think of even getting near other ponies. A werepony was dangerous. Everypony said that. But this young werepony wasn’t afraid. He heard a cry from the little foal and knew what he had to do. He walked down and picked her up only to place her front the door of the house and knock on. He could at least get the little foal into a warm house before it would freeze to death. He ran away as fast as he could from the time he had knocked. If the ponies in the house saw him would they would've chased him and called him a monster but he was still curious. The young werepony went back to Ild Skjold and checked wether he was still alive or not. As he found out Ild Skjold still was alive so he began to drag Ild Skjold towards the house as well. It was a young couple who owned the house. A unicorn female and an earth pony male. They looked like hard workers. Most likely miners here in those cold mountains. The werepony watched them taking the little pony in and then went on by getting the big and heavy Ild Skjold into a better place. For the young, and not so big, werepony it was quite hard to get a full grown stallion moved. But for now the little foal was in safety and warmth so at least everything was going to be fine…
